Carole & Michael Middleton orchestrated children's future from birth?

Blueballoons1 · 16/03/2024 12:52

Aibu to think the Middleton's very single handedly claimed the social ladder seamlessly? All three children are wildly rich & accepted in the highest echleons of society. Aibu to think that was no accident but carefully mapped out from birth?

Imagine giving birth to a daughter and saying ' right, she's going to marry the future king '.
Why Kate and not Pippa anyway? Wasn't she worthy or something?
Sorry Pippa, we've already earmarked your sister for the king, you'll have to make do with someone else, don't worry though, we'll make sure he's wealthy.

Maybe they had Harry earkmarked for Pippa but Chelsea got in the way🤔

I've sent my son to private school specifically so he can marry Princess Charlotte.

🤣

I've just finished the Crown & Carole really was portrayed as the brains begin the operation.

You do know that "The Crown" is not a documentary? It's littered with factual inaccuracies.

Toottooot · 16/03/2024 13:45

I wonder fa’s gan ti be spoken about like this fan wee George gets married. I wonder if his future wife’s ma is already carefully plotting.

Blueballoons1 · 16/03/2024 13:45

@Vitriolinsanity can he confirm where her mother is please 😁😁🤔

Have you met many private school Mums, OP?

Rewis · 16/03/2024 13:49

Rich people send their kids to posh schools with other rich/high sociert people. And those end up marryng each other and parents encouraging it. I doubt that's too rare in those circles 😁

Seashor · 16/03/2024 13:56

But don’t we all do that to some degree? I’ve made sure that my children can ski, sail, surf, horse ride and wake board to at least a competent level.
For fun but also to fit in socially. Sounds snobby I know but I want them to have as many life chances as they can. Private school too, which makes a huge difference.

Yes @Seashor that is exactly it. It widens their social circles & experiences. The Middleton's knew what they were doing all those years back but I think to achieve this now is nearly impossible due to the cost of living crisis.

Well, he obviously hasn't met her yet. BUT I am keeping a close eye out for GCSE and A level choices, which he will obviously pass so he gets the exact same points for their mutual Uni. He's a good looking kid, plays tennis, rides and rows so it's a given Charlotte will fall for him isn't it?

I'll give you all a thumbs up from the Abby.

bellsbuss · 16/03/2024 14:04

@Seashor I totally agree with you , I love that my children can do all those things and have a confidence that I didn't have until I was in my thirties.

Given the fact their dc were at boarding schools providing all those activities the Middletons didn't need to add to this!
And 'widening' their social circles would have necessitated sending thie kids to the local youth club to mix with lesser mortals. They already had access to the rich and famous 🤦‍♀️

I feel there is no way that parents could mange this level of social claiming these days even if the determination was there. Personally I find it really fascinating.

It happens all the time, you only hear about it because it reached one member of the royal family. Regardless, she went to St Andrews Prep and then Marlborough, one of the most expensive independents in the country. Her father’s family had connections with the aristocracy – he also went to public school.

This is not social climbing. Is any of this really surprising to you?

Freakinfraser · 16/03/2024 14:10

lol if they could do that they’d be friggen geniuses. As a parent I can say that’s a ludicrous idea 😂

Who knew going to those schools would bag you a prince, Christ someone better have a word with all the thousands of other kids who went and tell them they failed to meet their potential 😂

Myotheripodisayoto · 16/03/2024 14:11

I can't think why on earth anyone would set out to want their DC to marry into the RF.

Bloody awful gene pool! My DC are similar age to the royal children and good lord i hope they don't. I'd like my DC to marry intelligent professionals with STEM degrees.

They went to a local primary school in Berkshire St Andrews, it wasn't private. I would imagine all those activities were well established before Downe House & Marlborough so they would have been doing a fair amount of carting about..

You keep saying “it would cost a lot of money now” as though term fees for Marlborough College and the like were non existent 20+ years. The Middleton parents became wealthy and invested in their children enormously, so they would move in those circles. I don’t believe marrying William etc was planned by Carole, I do believe both were very aspirational for their children. Which is normal.

None of them were ever going to marry a state school attendee. A lesser private school attendee at an absolute push.

Blueballoons1 · 16/03/2024 14:18

I agree with that. Kate's ex boyfriend Rupert Finch is now a very well thought of high flying lawyer married to Lady Natasha Rufus Iassacs. Kate was always going to marry very well.

I know a few people their age and younger who went to prestigious private boarding schools. Some end up inter marrying similar levels and some don’t. One woman married a trust fund kid man she met whilst living an alternative lifestyle in Brighton, but she’s not private school just good school rich father. You can’t force your kids to marry who you want.

MojoMoon · 16/03/2024 14:22

The people sending their children to Marlborough College are not the sort of people who really notice a cost of living crisis. At worst, they will now just own two homes, London and country, rather than a place in Tuscany as well.

Elite boarding schools remain full of very rich people. They are still sailing, horse riding, skiing etc. The Alps were not empty of British tourists this year. The Pony Club and Beaufort Hunt are not closing due to lack of members.

The rich are getting richer.
Rich people almost always marry other rich people, this concentrating wealth further.
The gap between the rich and middle income is widening as well as between rich and poor.
That's what should be bothering you, not whether Carole somehow schemed Kate into a royal marriage.

St Andrews is very much a private preparatory school. If this is your level of knowledge, no wonder you think this was all engineered from birth.

You are clearly not old enough to remember all the harrumphing over Catherine's middle class new moneyed parents. How they earned it etc.
