Carole & Michael Middleton orchestrated children's future from birth?

Blueballoons1 · 16/03/2024 12:52

Aibu to think the Middleton's very single handedly claimed the social ladder seamlessly? All three children are wildly rich & accepted in the highest echleons of society. Aibu to think that was no accident but carefully mapped out from birth?

But it was a local private prep not one of the very elitists like Lambrook or Thomas's where Kate's children go.

I remember reading that their school fees were paid by trust funds set up by their paternal grandparents. So I guess you can blame them if you feel the need 🤷‍♀️

owlsinthedaylight · 16/03/2024 14:48

My parents tried to engineer for me to marry into the RF. The right schools, hobbies, charities, social circles, friends, introductions etc.

They had Andrew in mind. Thank god that didn’t work out!

Bollindger · 16/03/2024 14:48

This is so funny.
Children get a good education, meet some good friends, by chance one ends up married to a Prince.
The parents are not poor, so that helps.
The family then move into a different circle, and meet an even richer class of men.

All this means is that it is still possible to move upwards in the UK.

But hey if you need believe in wicked parents.. .feel free.

tigger1001 · 16/03/2024 14:58

I would hate to be in that family. And would really question any who aspire for their child to marry into it.

Money isn't everything.

TotalDramarama24 · 16/03/2024 14:59

Maybe it did cross all of their minds. I do find it strange that parents would spend all of that money on a wonderful education only to want both of their daughters to choose matrimony as a career choice.

I really hope that was in jest 🤣🤣🤣

I don't think their parents are wicked! Quite the opposite!

If it was that simple we'd all be doing it.

Nope. Deadly serious!

cuckyplunt · 16/03/2024 15:02

Why would anybody want to expose their children to this kind of shit, it’s beyond me.

LolaSmiles · 16/03/2024 15:08

No parents can ensure their children marry into royalty and no amount of money makes a child turn into a likeable adult. The Middletons had enough money to facilitate a lifestyle most of us could only dream of. The children were always likely to meet and marry someone similar.

FWIW what I find fascinating on Mumsnet is how often people seem to think it's wrong for parents to want their children to be well educated, well rounded people who can get on with people. There's always a hint of "don't get ideas above your station" about it.

Everythinggreen · 16/03/2024 15:13

When one sibling gets into certain higher circles, it's quite reasonable that the others can too. Plus doesn't necessarily take parents social engineering to become part of upper class circles. Vogue Williams and Pippa Middleton are SILs and have access to similar circles. I don't think Vogue's mother engineered anything from over in ROI

Fitzbillie · 16/03/2024 15:17

Testina · 16/03/2024 13:44

If you took each child’s cohort at school, do you think any of them didn’t marry wealthy? 😆

LOL you will find that there are far more OMs who are firmly middle class teachers, doctors, web designers, lawyers, civil servants, software engineers, vets, journalists, vicars than princesses or politicians (or politicians’ wives). Quite a lot of bankers though… 😂

I've just finished the Crown & Carole really was portrayed as the brains begin the operation.

It's fictional drama! I doubt very much if there's any truth in it at all 🙄

ungarden · 16/03/2024 15:18

I think it’s likely they like many other parents aspired to have well educated children who would be successful and it worked out. They might even have encouraged the choice of unis . Who cares?

Riverlee · 16/03/2024 15:20

Wasn’t William dating someone else when that catwalk happened? Also, even if you do send them to the ‘right’ university, doesn’t mean they will meet and marry.

ToBeOrNotToBee · 16/03/2024 15:22

As strange as this may seem, parents do generally want their children to be successful. With the money and opportunities available that the Middletons had, would you not do the same. I would.

dottiedodah · 16/03/2024 15:24

Even if she did "orchestrate" Kates choice of Uni ,how on earth would she be able to "match" them? Point is most pupils at Private Schools are wealthy ,and would be unlikely to marry a dustman! I think this constant debating of Carole Middleton, as some sort of Mrs Bennet is insulting to her and way off the mark .She ran a successful business and worked hard .

Caroparo52 · 16/03/2024 15:26

Vitriolinsanity · 16/03/2024 13:41

I've sent my son to private school specifically so he can marry Princess Charlotte.

😉🤣

I don't think the Middleton boy is wildly rich is he? He had a couple of failed businesses. No idea what he is doing now

I think Vogue's marriage is a mutually beneficial arrangement between them, and certainly a lucrative career move on her part after her first marriage/contract did not work out.

tittybumbum · 16/03/2024 15:31

I've had a quick Google. After James's 2nd business failed he has been hosting shoots at his brother in laws estate. He struggles with serious mental health issues.

Perhaps all of Carol's pushing didn't land well for him.

If a bunch of posh nobs with names like Scratcher and Badger had called me 'Doors to Manual', I'd have been doing better things with my time than trying to dive into bed with one of them, even if he was a future monarch. What a disparaging nickname to give someone, dripping in class contempt and worthy of a kick in the knackers, frankly. KM was in the right place at the right time, is pretty malleable as an individual which is very important (see also Diana) and if any of the current rumours are true, is now paying a heavy price, as did her MIL.
