Trypophobia is mine, but it think its a common one. Its a fear or aversion to small holes, clusters or bumps. 😫 Just typing that made me cringe.

Mine too. I'd actually never heard of it before until I started experiencing it and looked it up. When I tell people, I'm not so sure it's that common as I always get a weird look.

Spiral staircases. They absolutely freak me out. I'm not too bad if they're open (though I reallydont like them), but any type of church or castle that has an enclosed spiral staircase is a complete no-go for me. I can't breathe, I get shaky, my vision goes wonky. I just have to get away from them!

I also have a really visceral reaction to stickers or sellotape. The sound of it peeling makes me heave, and if it touches me, I will absolutely lose my shit. If someone has a sticker on that's peeling at the edges, I feel physically sick.

I've never met anyone else with either.

I can't cope with spiral staircases. I feel such panic if I have to go up and down them.

Dd2 cannot stand stickers. At primary school she used to get visibly anxious if she was given a sticker for good work. She'd take them off immediately. She's got a few on her wardrobe but she feels ill at the thought of peeling them off.

You are not alone!

Aroundthewaygirl · 10/03/2024 22:59

Cigarette butts and ashes.

i avoid stepping on or eating around them. 🤮

Blacknailer · 10/03/2024 23:07

Waxworks. It's the uncanny valley thing I think. They aren't alive and they aren't dead but they look real.
I'm not scared of the ones of celebrities and I'm not scared of shop mannikins.
Also mummies I cannot look at. Skeletons are fine.

Wilxie84 · 10/03/2024 23:11

Used teabags & tea, especially milky tea! It makes me gag 🤢. Also, moths! Evil, horrid things!

Ivesaidenough · 10/03/2024 23:14

Aroundthewaygirl same here.

Agii · 10/03/2024 23:14

Close up coral video, clusters, microscope views. Water weeds

Wilxie84 · 10/03/2024 23:15

Also The Snowman film fills me with dread & Oliver in the 1968 version, I just can't stand to watch him!

I have this too ! It’s got better as I have got older.

The thought of crumbs dust down the side or back of public seats, especially train seats. I can't lean back on a train journey. I perch on the front of the seat.

jpclarke · 10/03/2024 23:20

Walking on a bridge, terrified the bridge will collapse.
Looking at milk in a glass
Public toilets, I can't stand opening the doors that 100's of people have potentially touched, or touching the flusher or the taps to wash my hands. I obviously do but public toilets really bother me.

AllICanDoIsTry · 10/03/2024 23:21

Touching fish, absolutely fucking terrified of it.

Believe its from my parents shoving my hand in the fish ponds at garden centres as a kid

Trickofthetrade · 10/03/2024 23:27

Cleaning tomato ketchup off someone else's plate. Or even my own. Grim . Especially if it's mixed with egg .

Blackcats7 · 10/03/2024 23:31

Jacob Rees Mogg.
Although maybe that’s not weird.
His pretentious drawl makes me want to tear my skin off. I can’t listen to him at all. He gives me the creeps.

Not weird at all.
He's genuinely the worst.
Like a characture.

His kids also have the worst most pretentious names I've ever heard of in my life. Ridiculous.

Dogsdogsandcats · 10/03/2024 23:38

Not sure if this fits the bill but I have toilet anxiety. A fear for needing the loo and not being anyone near one. I have overactive bladder OAB. The OAB/anxiety is getting worse as I age. I can barely go on a long car journey with friends - none of whom are aware of my issues - or participate in days out. Currently looking for an excuse to get out of a night out with friends where I'll have to potentially sit in the middle of a row of seats at an event. If I need to the loo then then whole row will have to get up for me.

Imagine having to shag him?!
No, mustn’t picture that or I will vomit.

Bakewellpuddingandcustard · 10/03/2024 23:41

Houses with two or more sets of staircases to the same floor. Seeing these on Rightmove makes my stomach flip with anxiety.

Three story houses are fine btw.

Jemmy78 · 10/03/2024 23:47

Heads on legs. A dog or toddler coming up to you and putting their head on your legs. It makes me xant to faint.

ChangeAgain2 · 10/03/2024 23:49

I'm scared of people wearing stilts. I'm also scared of masks.

I have a fairly strong stomach, but some years ago my DP introduced me to a series of short horror films which I can't for the life of me remember the name of.

One of them featured a weird dinner party and on the menu was a cheese partly produced by introducing maggots into it.

I had to stop watching and reached for a full 15 minutes. DP was baffled and so was I to be fair. Never had such a visceral reaction to anything in my life. Tried to describe it to a friend and just talking about it made me heave again.

I just googled to make sure it's a real thing and am feeling queasy just writing it down.

Weirdest thing ever.

Oh god fuck moths. Just absolutely, completely & utterly fuck moths.

Worms. Especially after rainfall. They make me gag for some reason. I try to avoid looking at them.

Oh me too!!! Even reading your post has make me bork!!

Probably not weird but I have a massive phobia of having my blood pressure taken. So much so, I have no idea what it is.

TeaPleaseX · 10/03/2024 23:56

@DistressedDamson Omg. I've never met anyone else with the same phobia.
Not sure if you are the same but I'm really bad with black toilet seats. I cannot use a toilet with a black seat. Even the thought of using a toilet with a black seat frightens me.

blackpear · 10/03/2024 23:57

Viaducts. Victorian train stations.
