Posters you still think about

Proof I probably spend too much time on here but does anyone else have posters they still think about every now and again?

Mine is the Australian poster whose son was in the abusive relationship and her many threads about helping him get out of the relationship and realizing she was toxic.

Can’t find the threads at all now but I hope her and her son are still doing well!

Does anyone else have stand out posters or threads that stick in their minds?

Does anyone know how purple is? Her poor son ended up with an abusive gf when he was quite young. I can't remember her full surname but it was only in the last year or two.

The poster who lived in France and separated from her controlling husband but had to continue to co-parent their two teenage children with him - haven’t heard from her for a while.

That might be me? If so, all good, divorce finally through after 5 years and have met a lovely kind man. Kids are doing well. I updated my thread relatively recently.

If it's not me, I'm now mortified 😂🤣😭😬🙀

Pollyandherdollies and chopinandchampagne

She posted loads. Went trekking around Asia with two under fives, doddle. Couldn’t find childcare just get a nanny, even if on minimum wage job.
Was years ago.

@fiveyearsleft for me. Kept me sane on her lovely insomnia thread when I was slowly losing my mind owing to menopause inability to sleep. There was another lovely lady on there too who left an abusive relationship and set up a new home with the bare bones of stuff. She was inspirational too.

Five years turned up on another thread recently, helping people to get perspective on life in her inimitable, humorous and self deferential way. She's fab and I just wish I could wave a wand to make her well again and grant her many many more years.

Me too! I often think of her and wonder how she is doing.

HoneyWogan · 10/03/2024 19:16

I often wonder how Twittlebee is doing now. I remember her epic saga about the neighbours who had fenced off her inherited land, in an attempt to steal it from her; but I know she then had some very sad personal circumstances and the stolen land obviously very much took a back seat in her worries. I do hope she has found happiness or at least comfort now.

On a lighter note, I'd love to know what happened with the PTA fundraising night where OP had won a laptop and somebody (one of the organisers or their family member?) came up with excuse after excuse, having stolen her prize. I think that one got deleted in the end - possibly for being outing.

Also Antique Ram Castrator and, as PP recalled above, the family scratchcard argument.

Hairyfairy01 · 10/03/2024 13:48

Many, many years ago where the OP's husband suddenly left taking literally everything he owned with him, including some chutney if I remember right! Then she found out she was pregnant and had a boy called Adam I believe. She posted afterwards for a while but I would love to know how she is now. She had a great style of writing.

This is exactly the poster I still think of!

slightly less sentimental… the poster who made an owl noise at her colleague when arguing about Yogurt will live rent free in my head forever.
I need to hear more about this, please! (I mean, that might be all there is to it, but yoghurt? And owl noise(s)?)

that post also lives rent free in my head :D

To have laughed at her Slimming World advice? | Mumsnet

Woman at work has been doing Slimming World. She’s obsessed with it and goes on about it constantly armed with her books and Muller Lights at every me...

Tiffany, Valhalla, Usual suspect I always got on well with , there were others but I forget their names. Cupcakes I think I had a row with once, good times 😆

I was thinking of the lady called Pamela the other day who posted throughout her illness and up to her death. And of her husband and son.

Pamela who died of cancer so suddenly ☹️

HoneyWogan · 10/03/2024 19:19

And the horrendous abusive husband who forced OP to sit at the dining table and eat paper, as 'punishment' for some perceived disrespect/answering back that she'd shown to him.

His parents were visiting them and his mother was obviously under her son's cosh as well, as she urged OP to go ahead and eat the paper, to avoid him getting any worse. Vile creature - I do hope he got what was coming to him.

RockyRogue1001 · 10/03/2024 19:19

I miss JesusInACabbageVan.

She got pissed off at mnhq and de-regged.
This site is the poorer without her

NewMoonontuesday · 10/03/2024 18:54

Mine was think she was called ‘ Artandco
and she lived a one bedroom massive flat in zone 1. And her life was perfect.
Bet was made up.

It was made up , she was spectacularly outed by a zombie thread where she posted about having no children
I don't remember the details but it was completely different from the life she said she had
Ironically it was a pretty boring thread and half the posters were replying to the Original and half were discussing the outing

Herdinggoats · 10/03/2024 13:19

The one whose brother was living with a woman and she wouldn’t get rid of her dog. He’d given her an ultimatum and she’d told him to leave. The OP wanted to convince the woman to keep him.

I remember that!

Almost overwhelmingly we said "Keep the dog!"

HumanRightsAreHumanRights · 10/03/2024 19:23

There was a lady not so long ago, maybe last year, who posted about her child at a special school having a birthday party and inviting the other special needs children from their class.
I think none of them had ever been invited to a birthday party before.

I think of them from time to time, but couldn't find the post again so can't remember her name.

I hope all the kids had a fabulous party and that they are doing well.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 10/03/2024 19:25

I've been here since 2006 under different names.

I remember a male poster - his name had 'Dad' in it I think. His wife had died suddenly while she was loading the dishwasher. He had the most wonderful, dark sense of humour and just used to write about his life and trying to bring up his son alone. Then after a couple of years he met a woman who had an autistic son and they got together. I think he stopped posting then. But I always thought what a lovely man he seemed to be.

The posters on the SN board ( I think there was only one in those days) were an absolute life line to me when DS2 was first diagnosed. I learnt more from them than any professionals. I've forgotten most of their user names but still come across many of them on FB.

RockyRogue1001 · 10/03/2024 19:25

ChrisHuw · 10/03/2024 17:59

There was a poster who sticks in my mind because she gave me such wise and kind advice years ago. I think she was called something like Pictish.

I also remember the Jenny wren poster. So sad.

I used to like her too.

There's a poster now called something like Pictoosh and I often wonder if it's the same person

Oh I’m so glad to hear that, I was in awe of your patience with the whole situation! I’ll try to find your update 🙂

StillProcrastinating · 10/03/2024 19:27

Biscuits and Bandages. Her threads were heartbreaking yet she seemed so together.

and Zombie.

LookItsMeAgain · 10/03/2024 19:29

@Helfs - I was just thinking of that family too quite recently and hoped that both the psycho girlfriend got whatever help she clearly needed and that the OP on that thread and her son and the rest of the family were able to recover from the terrible situation that they managed to extricate themselves from.

I also think about the poster who had a really intrusive MiL and there was a whole situation surrounding a swimsuit for the OP's daughter on that one. I don't remember who that was but I think she and her husband separated, might even have divorced and I hope that they are doing well now.

Hakunatomato · 10/03/2024 19:30

EggyAllenPoe. She had a little boy who became ill with leukaemia, if I remember rightly. He went downhill so quickly, within weeks he had died.he died art the beginning of March. I remember because it is my birthday on the 7th March. I planted some flowers in his memory in my garden. I think of her little boy every year when the flowers come up.

I often think about CatthiefKeith when I read some posts on here. She was just so funny. She’d have made light work of some of the batshit nonsense on here. And some of the stuff that used to happen to her was just hilarious. I remember one about camping out in the garden or something and her sister had locked the door and wouldn’t let her back in? It was hilarious at the time. Bless her.

The poster who foststered a baby who was born addicted. She sadly died several years later.

I want to know about the poster who had a sail attached to her house by her neighbour, innocuous post really but want to find out if she had it resolved (sail/Sun shade, hooked onto he house)

Yes - I wondered how that ended.

Also @Twittlebee who had a wood stolen,
