Posters you still think about

Proof I probably spend too much time on here but does anyone else have posters they still think about every now and again?

Mine is the Australian poster whose son was in the abusive relationship and her many threads about helping him get out of the relationship and realizing she was toxic.

Can’t find the threads at all now but I hope her and her son are still doing well!

Does anyone else have stand out posters or threads that stick in their minds?

A poster who was ill and having problems with her music teaching neighbour - Psiaspops
Although many others have stayed with me too

TidyDancer · 10/03/2024 14:00

I remember a poster called TheLastOfTheNappies (I think that's right) who posted a thread titled something like 'help me have a good relationship with my MIL or DH and I will divorce'. Turned out that the MIL was utterly dominating and batshit crazy and the DH was a two faced enabler. OP had changed her DD's name several months after the birth and MIL refused to accept it. OP found out that MIL and DH were throwing a first birthday party for the DD using the original name and were neither inviting nor informing the OP. She stopped posting on the thread after a while and I haven't seen her on her for years but I do still think of her every time these types of threads come up. The DD would be maybe 14 now.

PleaseenterausernameX · 10/03/2024 14:01

I always enjoyed usualsuspects posts

Was she banned? So many witty posters hounded off MN. It's a rather dull place now and I do wonder why I stick around.

SemperOmnibusFacultas · 10/03/2024 14:01

The poster who foststered a baby who was born addicted. She sadly died several years later.

I want to know about the poster who had a sail attached to her house by her neighbour, innocuous post really but want to find out if she had it resolved (sail/Sun shade, hooked onto he house)

ADoggyDogWorld · 10/03/2024 14:02

Dittany. A poster on the Feminist boards. I learnt a lot from her.

ilovesooty · 10/03/2024 14:03

There was a thread on this quite recently. It descended into an old poster love in and some of them miraculously reappeared to exchange air kisses.

Most of them are probably here under name changes anyway.

Sourisblanche · 10/03/2024 14:03

BitofFun and TwitterQueen. I was thinking about them the other dayFlowers

urrrgh46 · 10/03/2024 14:08

I think about @bloodywhitecat who forstered babies and her husband died of cancer. And of course Pamela and a poster who'd been diagnosed with some kind of lymphoma at the beginning of lockdown.

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 10/03/2024 14:09

Fluffydressinggown. I always think of her doing her colouring in and what she went through.

BeGentleCrab · 10/03/2024 14:09

The poster who was clearly very, very mentally unwell with extreme health anxiety.

It was always about her DC, that she'd taken them on a playdate or something and later found out there were cases of chicken pox at the school the playdate went to so now her DC was going to die and she was picking out what clothes she wanted them to be buried in.

She'd name change all the time but was so recognisable and her threads often got heated because people became so frustrated with her.

Me too. I hope she knows how her words on a screen changed people.

Someone who was dumped by text and told not to respond. The ex was a total arsehole. She concentrated on living her best life and he came crawling back! Much satisfaction in telling him where to go.

Jux · 10/03/2024 14:12

Hairyfairy01 · 10/03/2024 13:48

Many, many years ago where the OP's husband suddenly left taking literally everything he owned with him, including some chutney if I remember right! Then she found out she was pregnant and had a boy called Adam I believe. She posted afterwards for a while but I would love to know how she is now. She had a great style of writing.

Yes! He even took the vanilla sugar!!!!!

whiteroseredrose · 10/03/2024 14:14

I think Oddsocks or similar name going round on the night bus as she was homeless.

Another poster who posted Obese with skinny arms and legs who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer I think. I wonder how she got on.

Flin · 10/03/2024 14:15

I remember the chutney man too. He ran off with OW. Last I remember seeing was that the OP and her DS were doing really well. I hope that’s still the case. She was brilliant, the way she handled things.

Was that RunningIn The Rain? So inspirational!

Who was the poster ages ago who wrote many eloquent posts about the challenges of caring for a disabled child, living on a very low income? She was invited to 10 Downing Street, to meet David Cameron I think?
Is she still around, or did the high profile of it all get a bit too much for her?
Still think of her

Was that Riven? I do think of her whenever one of these posts pops up.

That was TwitterQueen- sadly she passed away. I still remember the “obese with thin arms and legs thread” because it was the most salient lesson ever in “RTFT”. She’d started the thread, a few people had flagged it might be OC and she’d gone to the doctor and been diagnosed. Then some idiot who obviously hadn’t read the updates posted something along the lines of “stop making excuses. Calories in. Calories out”. Honestly if I’d done that I’d have fired myself into the sun in shame.

zippitydoda · 10/03/2024 14:22

FV45 was in a domestic abuse situation and planning to leave.

MinnieCauldwell · 10/03/2024 14:25

The Australian mum with the son in a controlling relationship.

The lady who married a guy from NZ and moved there, had a child and the sepzrated but she couldn't come back, trapped in the middle of nowhere with no job, money or support, i often think of her, she had guven up everything.

Langclegg from the Feminist board, banned for stating actual truth and bilovical facts. We all miss her and kearned so much from her posts.

TheFancyPoet · 10/03/2024 14:26

how long do you have to be on here to remember all the names and the stories attached to them? wow

Datafan55 · 10/03/2024 14:27

shellyleppard · 10/03/2024 13:54

The man whose neighbour's were building a canopy at the bottom of his garden.....it kept me gripped for weeks!!!! Also the lady with the bowel prolapse??? Not seen anything from her for a while. Note to self remember to write down the names ,🥺

The first was some great writing.
The second... Is she the one who kept getting banned? Or - oh no - was that one who hadnt had a poo for weeks... Yes, I think so.

TedWilson · 10/03/2024 14:30

There was one where a woman had moved house and all weird things were happening and it was like the new village didn't want her there. It got removed after 900+ posts. I do wonder what happened.
