Posters you still think about

Proof I probably spend too much time on here but does anyone else have posters they still think about every now and again?

Mine is the Australian poster whose son was in the abusive relationship and her many threads about helping him get out of the relationship and realizing she was toxic.

Can’t find the threads at all now but I hope her and her son are still doing well!

Does anyone else have stand out posters or threads that stick in their minds?

CoatsProtectionLeague or something similar.

I remember she suddenly stopped posting so no idea if things worked out for her and her dc.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/03/2024 18:45

There was a lady who was in an unhappy marriage & her step children were nasty to her, she had saved enough money to buy her own house and her husband didn’t know about it.
She had all the paperwork sent to her work address. Just wondering if she managed to leave for work and never return to her marital home like she planned to.

If its the one I'm thinking of (about 3 or 4 years ago) she was a troll, found out by a failed name change. Very annoying as she wasted a lot of people's time.

Greydogs123 · 10/03/2024 18:46

The poster who cared for a baby born addicted to drugs. The descriptions of the poor baby’s suffering and the strength of the poster were very moving.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo and TwitterQueen. Both have now died. I think about them a lot.

I got to know Twitter Queen and she was such a decent, down to earth person who never complained or expressed any self-pity. I really liked her snd was very sorry she died.

I was just this morning thinking about a poster and hoping she was having a wonderful Mother’s Day.

She posted a couple of years ago at Christmas about visiting Santa. She had three older teenager children - one with severe SEN. She said that she was just going to take that one to see Santa as they still believed, but her other two insisted they came as well as it’s what they did as a family. That really got to me.

Poster - if you see this I hope you’re having a wonderful Mother’s Day!

slightly less sentimental… the poster who made an owl noise at her colleague when arguing about Yogurt will live rent free in my head forever.

I need to hear more about this, please! (I mean, that might be all there is to it, but yoghurt? And owl noise(s)?)

CryptoFascist · 10/03/2024 18:54

Things that stick in my head:

Poster who shouted "willy willy willy" at a man in the street during an argument.

Poster who had several long threads about her grandson who was being overfed, she eventually became a family fosterer for him.

Poster who would name change all the time but was really recognisable - would post about her DP and his obsession with going to Glastonbury, she was also the t-rex in the supermarket and winey wall poster.

A sad thread about a young woman who was made to sleep on the windowsill and had a young baby with her much older DP who was horribly abusive, I think she left him in the end.

NewMoonontuesday · 10/03/2024 18:54

Mine was think she was called ‘ Artandco
and she lived a one bedroom massive flat in zone 1. And her life was perfect.
Bet was made up.

wizzler · 10/03/2024 18:54

I remember Rivens threads : life was so tough for her and as I recall it just kept getting harder as policies changed

Expatinscotland, I remember praying for her Dd

Blondeshavemorefun was someone who was always on the same threads as me about 10- 12 years ago and I always thought I would get on with

I think it was Tinydancer who had the bridezills thread that had us all howling

Cloverforever · 10/03/2024 18:55

Misdee with Pink Peter? will always stick in my mind,. Does anybody kno2 how they are?

And the heartbreakingtoddler? Maud who died whilst her mum was in hospital and her dh had to break the news to her - and the subsequent mile for Maud.

ooooohnoooooo · 10/03/2024 18:55

@fiveyearsleft for me. Kept me sane on her lovely insomnia thread when I was slowly losing my mind owing to menopause inability to sleep. There was another lovely lady on there too who left an abusive relationship and set up a new home with the bare bones of stuff. She was inspirational too.

Five years turned up on another thread recently, helping people to get perspective on life in her inimitable, humorous and self deferential way. She's fab and I just wish I could wave a wand to make her well again and grant her many many more years.

That was deleted because it pretty obviously made up as nothing added up, she was supposed to completeing on easter friday etc and when pointed this out by many posters she changged the date etc.

I remembered more, there was a namechange failed and she had split from the DH already. It was a begging thread as she claimed to leave without anything.

@Rowgtfc72 expatinscotland had the daughter who died of leukaemia 12 years ago now.

I meet up with her for lunch a couple of times a year. She and her family are well, though Aillidh will always be a gap in their lives.

I often think of Expat, our DD were the same age and you could hear the absolute devastation (understandably) in all her threads. Thank you for the update Flowers

Rattenbury · 10/03/2024 18:59

Lollipop7 - a wonderful, witty lady who left an abusive partner with her DCs in tow - her thread was so inspiring. she updated a while later to say they were all thriving. I do hope she's still doing well years later

@TheCatOnMorrisseysHead I think about the same poster and wonder what happened and I hope she is having a fabulous life with her twins. Her name definitely had “rose” in it.

I had read this was a troll. Or it could have been the Ophelia poster. They were around at the same time iirc.

willWillSmithsmith · 10/03/2024 19:00

TheFancyPoet · 10/03/2024 14:26

how long do you have to be on here to remember all the names and the stories attached to them? wow

I know, it’s amazing. I must admit I don’t look at posters names even the ones I follow.

Wherewhatnow · 10/03/2024 19:02

Scaredmary. She was in an horrifically abusive and controlling relationship and her husband couldn't even suppress his abuse in public. She was about to leave the next day but she only had a matter of minutes. I thought of her constantly that week, I hope it worked out well and that she and her children are now safe.

HRHElizabeth · 10/03/2024 19:03

The poster who lost her son Alex in early adulthood.
I do hope she’s ok, especially today x

lanesra01 · 10/03/2024 19:04

Was Mexican house thief real because it is the
most bizarre things ive ever read and I think about it a lot…

JonVoightBaddyWhoGrowls · 10/03/2024 14:48

A poster a few years ago. Married, no dc. Her h was clearly controlling and abusive. He had totally isolat€d her - from her family, she worked for him so no financial independence etc. he even dictated when she went to bed, what she ate etc. over many threads and name changes she came to realise. Her first escape attempt was to sign up for teacher training. She did it secretly at first but he nixed it and manage to convince her she would be terrible at it. Then a bit later she was poised to leave. Even found a flat. And then she went silent and I never came across her again. I think about her A LOT.

there’s a similar situation happening currently with a poster and I think it’s why I find myself ridiculously invested. I feel like the other one might never have got away and maybe this woman might.

ps I am pretty sure Laqueen is still her. Different name.

I remember this poster well. So sad - I hope they eventually got away.

Chopinandchampagne (or similar name) still posts and updates every now and then (Lobster Boy, estranged daughter in Ireland). I don't think anything much has changed unfortunately.

Very glad not to have to read any more thoughtless and insensitive posts from Bluntness!!

HesterRoon · 10/03/2024 19:07

I remember Bitoffun and how lovely she was and how much people thought of her.

A fairly recent one where she got a drunken text from a male friend who wished she was with him on a trip abroad. She had a thing for him but thought he was out of her league and it wouldn’t work-different backgrounds. She was encouraged to message back she wished she were there too and lo and behold, she was meeting him at the airport. Would love to know how that turned out.

SpttyMaldoon · 10/03/2024 19:07

I remember some for he ones mentioned here,
especially the Australian woman.

the ones I remember and hate is those where the poster says ‘it’s 3am and my husband was supposed to be home by 7, this is very out of character’ and we never hear from them again.

x2boys · 10/03/2024 19:09

ilovesooty · 10/03/2024 14:03

There was a thread on this quite recently. It descended into an old poster love in and some of them miraculously reappeared to exchange air kisses.

Most of them are probably here under name changes anyway.

It's always the same names that come up..

That one i think was genuine. It was just one post in a very long thread from a long term poster.
