Maybe I'm overacting but I don't think I am. The other day I was at a cafe with my friend (31F) and I was pouting my lips when she looked at me and said 'that reminds me' and started applying chapstick. I was a bit confused by this but then I realised what she meant and I was very angry. But then yesterday we went out again and I can't remember the conversation but I stuck my teeth out in a funny way and she looked me up and down and said in a smug voice 'I need to book my dentist appointment' and she set a reminder in her calendar. Am I overreacting or is this not on? And how do I approach it without sounding paranoid?

I unsent my old message and sent a new one and she's read it right away but hasn't responded.

Are you 12?!

Ffs she is clearly joking. Why are you pulling faces at her? What reaction were you looking for?

Where's the part of the message where, in the interests of transparency, you told her that 88% of voters on Mumsnet think you're a nutter?

😬

What is she supposed to say to that? That’s quite an accusatory message op.

Hiddenvoice · 03/03/2024 18:07

I really don’t want to be nasty but I think you’re majorly overthinking this and based on your message to her, are probably going to lose a friendship.

You pouted, she remembered she needed lip balm.
You showed your teeth and she remembered she needed an appointment. I think you’re jumping the gun assuming that she’s thinking something nasty about you. However, your comments on your being better looking are nasty towards your friend.
I don’t know why you sent the message and what you hope to achieve, other than an argument.

Also she probably read your previous message on Lock Screen and has seen your new message and is choosing to ignore the ridiculousness of it all!

alltoomuchrightnow · 03/03/2024 18:08

This is BIZARRE
Are you the new Sharon? (if you ever read old threads) just for sheer oddness?

MississippiAF · 03/03/2024 18:09

Actually hope the DM picks this one up

If you sent me that I wouldn’t want to continue any friendship. You seem very immature.

Come on, even the DM would struggle to make sense of this one.

Namechange666 · 03/03/2024 18:10

That whatsapp msg is hilarious.

God you're hardwork. 🤣🤣🤣

Oh dear. I may be wrong but with this sort of communication I imagine your relationships are peppered with arguments and conflict.

So first I have tourettes and now I must be a l*sbian. Seriously does nobody here make jokes with their friends?

The word lesbian is not offensive, rude or anything else which may cause people to use an asterisk. To use an asterisk could be offensive to lesbians (and other people).

CatkinToadflax · 03/03/2024 18:13

I once had a spot on my face. It was, on that occasion, the only spot on my face. It was also the largest spot anyone has ever seen, anywhere. I could feel the bastard pulsating. It was brightest red and so enormous that it deserved its own passport and postal address.

One of my colleagues glanced at me and said “I must just cover my spots up!”. I knew instantly that she’d noticed my facial Belisha beacon but it was easier to shrug it off. She didn’t mean anything unkind. I’m sure that was the same with your facial expressions OP.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 03/03/2024 18:13

Jealous of you? That's the take you're going with? Oky doke.

Sadza · 03/03/2024 18:13

Are you 12?

LittleGreenDragons · 03/03/2024 18:14

Please tell me you didn't really send that! Blush

arethereanyleftatall · 03/03/2024 18:14

Oh my goodness that message!!!!

I am 💯 confident your friend isn't jealous of you, I'm afraid op.

Saying things like that to anyone doesn't mark you out as superior btw, rather the complete opposite.

kitsuneghost · 03/03/2024 18:15

What does the Chapstick thing mean?

Marcipex · 03/03/2024 18:17

It would be more fun to take this further.
Pick your nose, scratch your bum, see what she comes up with.

BirthdayRainbow · 03/03/2024 18:17

How sad you think getting lip filler is a positive thing.

DoesNotPlayWellWithIdiots · 03/03/2024 18:17

Place marking for friend's response 😬

I wouldn't be surprised if she told you to F** [sic] OFF 😂😂😂

nimski · 03/03/2024 18:18

I hope she tells you to f* off. That's an appalling message.

AmazingAspirations · 03/03/2024 18:20

This is a strange thread! I wish I could have seen it happen live.
