Men with long fingernails....

Omg just yuck ! Why? It gives me the ick... currently sat on a train next to a very pleasant man by all accounts and then I see his long fingernails ...think like 3mm or so long. Why ?? Is it just me that really gets out off by it ? Cut your nails short ! I can't even explain it....
I'm not talking about guitar players where there's a function or similar. Normal men (this one is definitely going into an office job). Tell me what also icks you ??

Oh and don't get me started on woman that have phones on loud speaker holding it by their ears as if the sounds comes out of the underside of the phone 😆

I agree with the sentiment, but is it not possible for someone to both have an office job and play guitar?!

My husband plays classical guitar. He needs long fingernails on one hand.

Long nails make me feel a little bit ill whichever sex they are on. Especially the ultra long fake nails that you often see. Horrible. 😬

Ugh long fingernails are so disgusting and even worse if they aren't clean (don't even get me started on long toenails and that's on men and women. ugh. might vomit on my keyboard even thinking about them)

But 3mm long is basically not freshly trimmed. I think cutting nails almost everyday is a lot to ask and nails not ending at the exact fingertip is not an ick to me.

I like to keep my index finger nail on each hand slightly longer.What else am I going to pick my nose with? (Yes, I am a man)

Nails don't grow fast enough to warrant cutting them every day.

It certainly is !! But I've seen a few guitarists have manicures and the nails are longer and a particular shape..let's just say this wasn't and still had the angular cuts in them from 4 weeks agos trim lol .And as I said guitarist etc. that's a perfectly good reason as it serves a purpose. But it it doesn't serve a purpose like a hobby or job...why do some men not trim them ? They looked clean yes thankfully !

I'd love to hear from men!! If every single nail is longer on your hands and you do not have a hobby or career necessitating the need for long nails... why do you keep them long? Do you know how many women are put off by them ? Do u even care?

Quite agree, and even worse are nails which are different lengths and or chipped or broken As for dirty nails that's plain 🤮

One (more actually) of my male colleagues did, they were in a band together. There's a difference between long and manky.

Not the point but there are certain cultures where the women at least grow longer than usual toe nails and paint them and wear sparkly sandals to show them off - its not for me but it does seem to suit them somehow and this somehow doesn't make me feel queezy . I suppose long nails makes me icky as it doesn't seem masculine... oh god I'm probably opening a can of worms but on straight men I imagine an accompanying wet fish handshake etc....

YANBU. My ex had long fingernails. Filthy as well, didn't even have an overly dirty job. I shudder now looking back. I was young and stupid.

@Noangelbuthavingfun you've just reminded me that I saw a woman with a French manicure on her toenails recently and it made me feel a bit weird.

I wonder where it comes from? I really don't like long nails at all. Maybe I had a bad experience as a young child?!

A lot of my male friends and family really hate long nails on women too.

Swings and roundabouts. I think it's because we know they cannot be cleaned underneath throughout the day properly.

Long fingernails are not nice, but I don't agree everyone should have to cut into the pink bit. I have to keep a little bit of white otherwise it's so sore! My nails still stop before the end of my fingers, but perhaps I am gross too!

My uncle used to keep one little finger nail long to clean out his ears! It was the 1960s but that's no excuse.

Always thought it was musicians- they need them to pluck. However use a bloody plectrum.

Can’t stand it. Not a huge fan of them on women either, unless kept meticulously clean.

No this is fine ! To clarify it's when it hangs over the edge of the finger !usually at the 3 to 5 mm mark

They give me the ick if they aren't properly cared for... but I'd be fine with it if they were clean and polished and looked neat etc.
