Men with long fingernails....

Omg just yuck ! Why? It gives me the ick... currently sat on a train next to a very pleasant man by all accounts and then I see his long fingernails ...think like 3mm or so long. Why ?? Is it just me that really gets out off by it ? Cut your nails short ! I can't even explain it....
I'm not talking about guitar players where there's a function or similar. Normal men (this one is definitely going into an office job). Tell me what also icks you ??

Oh and don't get me started on woman that have phones on loud speaker holding it by their ears as if the sounds comes out of the underside of the phone 😆

I don’t even like “neat” nails on my DH - if he has even a hint of white nail end I ask him to get them bitten - well manicured / long nails give me the ick

I'm the same. I can't explain why but I find it absolutely disgusting.

While I don't find it particularly attractive all the absolutely revolting, gross, ick, makes me queasy comments are over the top.

I don't understand why long nails on men are gross but okay on women? I don't like either! Short, clean, bare nails for everyone is the way to go!

I'd argue they're not okay on women either. Totally impractical. But maybe that's the kind of life they lead.

I find long nails on men utterly revolting, regardless of the reason. It seems to indicate neglect of personal hygiene to me (rightly or wrongly). I have mostly noticed it on elderly men with dementia etc - used to see it on nursing home visits - poor buggers obviously couldn't attend to it themselves and no-one else was helping them enough.

I was introduced to a man once who was a midwife and he had one, really long finger nail that didn't look very clean 🤢

If he had been assigned to me when I was pregnant, I genuinely think I couldn't have let him examine me, it was disgusting 🤮

I find that quite attractive, although the mails are a bit long.

Grim ! Son had a friend at primary school with long nails …really strange ! Am not a fan of long finger nails generally.

I mean men can do what they like with their fingernails BUT it gives me the ick too. If I came across a totally gorgeous man and he had long nails I just couldn't go there. See also horrid feet.

So what? He's a random stranger. Pretty sure he wasn't going to offer to shag you anyway, so what does it matter what you think of his fingernails? He's not there to look nice for you.

Fine to have a personal preference for short nails, but it's weird to get so worked about long nails (or any style choice) on a complete stranger. Ultimately, I'm sure there are things about you that would also give some people 'the ick' too.

I'm also interested at how many people think long nails are 'unhygienic' and can't imagine 'how you keep them clean'. They're no more difficult to keep clean than short nails.

I've varied my nail length a lot over the years and if anything, I'd say that it's easier to clean underneath long nails than short ones.

I know of 2 women who don’t wash their hands enough as ‘it ruins their manicure’. Revolting & a disease promoter.

A friend of mine has longer nails. He lost all feeling in his finger tips due to a medical condition and has to use the nails for gripping things. It does still make me feel a bit queasy though!

He does keep them very clean and neat btw.

Midwives used to keep one long nail so they could swipe and release a tongue tie in newborns, or so I’ve read.

My DH is a guitarist and will periodically grow the nails on his right hand long. I absolutely hate it - it gives me the serious ick even though I know why he does it.

I saw something the other day about children with long nails collecting dirt and probable issues with 'potty residue' 😬Tbh, long nails on anyone look gross and if they're dirty then they're gag-inducing.

I've recently seen photos of women with false nails that have a good bit of the underneath nail showing and that's gross too.
