Confronted man at drive through?

So I wanted a coffee and decided to drive now to McDonald’s. Did my order and I’m waiting behind another car who is taking ages.

Car comes up behind me and starts loudly revving his engine at me and then holds his horn down after waiting maybe 3 minutes. The car in front of me is around the bend so not visible to him but you’d think common sense would have told him that.

He then gets out of his car and storms by and looks around the corner and obviously sees the car, waits a few seconds and walks back. Had my window down anyway so I asked him - why did you feel the need to beep at me, it’s pretty obvious I’m waiting to move too. And his response was - calm down and he stormed back to his car and made a big show of each time I moved to the next window that he was as close as possible behind me.

Probably a none event and I’m not confrontational at all but how aggressive he was to me for literally doing nothing really annoyed me.

Was I being unreasonable to have said anything or should I have let it go?

‘Innocently walking past’. Grin

How is that different from: walking past?

Because that person is 20% better than us slobs who sit in our car getting … fast food or in my case a coffee - but maybe that wouldn’t be classed as coffee either and maybe just swill.

That is why they can innocently walk by … maybe whilst eating an almond.

I had someone like that at the petrol station
2 pumps, I hadn't pulled forward to the first one
He put down his window to mansplain to me about how I should always pull forward to the first pump and gave me an earful for not doing so and how I should "learn in future" (I'm 40, not a new driver!)

I did try to reply but couldn't get a word in
Paid for my fuel, he revved up behind me and pulled to the first pump, the car behind him moved up too so he couldn't reverse

Obviously missed the sign on it that said out of order. He had to go back round and queue again

When he dies, no one will give a shit about him.

Wow, get help

Same thing happened to a poster a couple of pages back

Although I think the worst was breaking down on a retail park after work
I couldn't move my car, and was standing by the side of the road in ambulance uniform with hazards on, on the phone to breakdown

I got called everything from a cunt to a stupid bitch because I was partially blocking half a lane (on a retail park, not the road) and beeped at. Nobody stopped to ask if they could help

PawsisShady · 26/02/2024 22:15

@corporategirlie I just read that as I was catching up with the thread! People are so impatient, there's nearly always a reason why people do that (no diesel or something)

The sheer laziness of queueing up in a car for mediocre at best food and all the associated pollution. I have to walk past one and all the cars have ridiculously bright headlights at eye level. So it's also blinding when you're trying to innocently walk past.

Oh god yes.
Before I was completely housebound I sometimes fancied a shitty burger and was far too lazy to park up in the disabled bay, get into my wheelchair and go queue up.
Drive thru all the way hashtag idle bitch as the kids say. Or used to a decade ago when they did the hashtag thing.

My husband is even more lazy as he takes our severely autistic and violent son through the drive through cos he can't be arsed to wrestle him to the ground if he tries to attack someone.

The lazy fuck family the locals call us.

😂😂

And you know what, piss taking aside, if someone was just feeling like they couldn't be arsed for absolutely no reason other than they couldn't be arsed, that's fine too. There's no moral value added in parking up and walking in versus queueing in your car and having it passed through a window at you

mynewname25 · 26/02/2024 22:31

As he walked back to his car I'd have smirked and said 'bet you feel like a right twat now eh? ' 😁

AffIt · 25/02/2024 21:21

The combination of fast food and high blood pressure will get him in the end. Worry not, OP.

😂

Id want to say something, but probably wouldn't as worried he'd snap and try to damage my car or get to mw. These types do give me a laugh in traffic though when they're desperately changing lanes over and over and then I end up catching up with them at rhe next set of lights.

That’s awful!! I would have asked if you were OK!

People don’t seem to give people the benefit of the doubt. To question the situation as to maybe just maybe there is a reason for what is happening. Always quick to jump and act like the smartypants. I get this a lot at work. When they hear the explanation they then try do a 180 and make a joke out of it. Well my face says it all at that point.

bradpittsbathwater · 27/02/2024 13:20

There seems to be a larger proportion of angry middle aged men than younger men. Often taking their frustrations out on women as they're too scared to confront another man.

opentoadvice88 · 27/02/2024 13:22

Urgh imagine living with such a pig

BardRelic · 27/02/2024 13:28

Well there was a car upside down in a hedge on a road local to me this morning. It will have been driven by an angry twat in a hurry. There's no reason to end up like that otherwise. I don't believe in karma, but actions have consequences.

And for anyone who says 'oh but maybe...' No, they'll just have been speeding and will have overestimated their skill levels, that's all.

OhamIreally · 27/02/2024 17:51

Recently there were roadworks near me with traffic lights controlling the single lane. I stopped on red and as the lights turned green the bloke in the BMW behind me starts beeping and throwing his arms around. There was a whole stream of traffic coming towards me who had clearly gone through red from the other direction. So yes, it may have been my right of way but there was literally no way to drive forward without crashing into oncoming cars. When the lights turned red he was still beeping at me to go through. I possibly could have done so but I'm in a borough with a huge amount of cameras so didn't particularly want to risk an £80 fine.
When I got through he tailgated me (it's a 20mph borough dickhead - see also previous re cameras). As soon as I could I pulled over so that he could speed past me engine revving.
I drive a small car more typically associated with women drivers and the aggression I face I'm sure is escalated because of that. I drive it because it's less polluting. I also drive with my doors locked and never wind down my window.

So she should just stay inside and not use a drive through? What am I reading here??

hopscotcher · 29/02/2024 06:12

I think you were perfectly within your rights here - sounds like he was weirdly rude and you just calmly pointed something out.

IAmAnIdiot123 · 29/02/2024 06:16

I wouldn't have said anything because I am more nervous these days about other people's reactions. I would have been fucking pissed off though and I don't think yabu.

shearwater2 · 29/02/2024 06:24

I would have done exactly the same as you, OP. He hated his pointless aggression being called out. At least he knows he has been clocked and doesn't get away with it. These guys are particularly stupid too as I like a lot of people have front and rear cameras.

What a pathetic response to having your arse handed to you.

If you want to brag that you don’t eat fast food, do it but don’t gave a go at disabled people using a service they find convenient.

chiwwy · 26/02/2024 19:10

Yes, we get it, every aggressive man is just having a shit day, it’s just one snapshot into his life, he didn’t mean it, women need to be kinder to men.

Go sell this crap to someone else, no one here’s buying it.

Hear hear

GlossyPaper · 29/02/2024 07:35

I challenge these types but I really shouldn’t. I tried to rein it in when the kids were little but I am now in my fifties so it’s even harder.

I can only hope they meet the exact same idiot that they are being one day and can destroy each other.
