I’ve inherited a very good knife and a little bit of money and I’ve used the knife today and it’s so sharp it’s life changing. It’s been a joy to chop everything and it’s made me wonder what I’m missing out on. What’s the thing you have that’s expensive but worth every penny?

Anyone have recommendations for an ever sharp paring knife. I just cannot sharpen knives!! Havre a great chopping one but no makers mark and no idea where it came from

Victorinox and they’re super cheap too, about £4 each and they have brightly coloured handles so it can be seen/found easily. I have one that’s over 20 years old, serrated and never been sharpened.

I HATE ironing so have always bought all singing & dancing steam generator irons.
My current one has just gone wrong again (DH mended it about 3 months ago). I have just ordered a new one for nearly £400 😱
I justify it to myself that the current one lasted over 9 years.

I hate it too...why waste your money on expensive irons? Just send the ironing out. Love picking up my ironing and just putting it away.

@SiobhanSharpe - Point taken, but I prefer that on the table than an old jam jar.

Other receptacles are also available to make French dressing.

It’s not in the spirit of the thread, is it? 🤷🏼‍♀️

My version of this luxury is picking clothes that don't require ironing. I used to be paid to iron, and while I don't mind doing it, it's lovely to be able to choose not to. I do appreciate that some jobs have a smarter dress code than ours do... And I do it if the occasion warrants it. But not as a regular chore.

Not lots of money, but my new extra wide ironing board I’m loving!

My main ironing task is bedding ( I know, I know, but I love freshly ironed bedding)

@Whatistherightanswer I would say also a big American fridge freezer with cold water and ice maker as I love drinks with ice and use it all the time. We also have air conditioning units for when we have hot days/nights. One in each bedroom. When we have those steamy airless days we put them on in the afternoon and then go up for a siesta. The bliss of a lie down in a cool room is absolutely wonderful and they’re worth their weight in gold! On our fabulous Vi-Spring bed obviously. Blissfully comfortable.

Not very expensive but if you make your own salad dressing, I recommend using one of these…

I have a similar IKEA one, love it.

Kitchen-wise, I also have an excellent microplane that brings me joy.
