Scarlet Blake has been found guilty of murder. He also tortured and killed a cat.

He is not a woman.

This shouldn't be reported as a woman's crime.

I understand this is an issue that is very close to your hearts, I understand that many of you find the fact that this meatbag is alowed the privalidge of identifing as a Women Galling to say the least but swamping the police with complaints about the issue isnt the way.
Its a matter for Parliament uou should be lobbying your MPs, Not over streched police officers who most probably agree with you but cant say it. Form a collective and speak to your MPs.

Glad you're here to mansplain how to do feminism to us. Thanks.

The PCC is not the actual police HTH.

It’s so helpful @ArabellaScott Let’s face it, we aren’t used to these kinds of issues, campaigning and stuff, and we are all feeling quite emotional about it. I mean, it’s heard to think straight over the upset. And my baby needs feeding so that’s distracting too.

I'm so busy being kind and polite and ladylike that I've no time to think about how to do feminism at all. So helpful to have a man come along to tell me.

Is that what you believe Im doing?
Or do your inherant predudices prevent you from listening to a point of veiw other than that of your own. Was what I said realy worthy of such a terse reply and an overt display of stereotyping. 🙄

Froodwithatowel · 01/03/2024 17:11

Man is arrogant, superior and patronising to women, and attempts to teach grandmother to suck eggs.

Women fail to respond in a suitably grateful manner.

Man is Offended and scolds. Since the issue is obviously that there's something wrong with the women. (#theservicehumansarerevolting)

Plus ca bloody change. Gawd all this misogyny is tedious, is there a way to put this decade on fast forward?

Yes. You sounded incredibly patronising, and as you don't seem to be aware of the function of the PCC, that made it even more worthy of a "terse" response.

Yes but its not missconduct is it, its a procedual issue that would have to be corrected with new legisation, I am on your side!

pickledandpuzzled · 01/03/2024 17:39

Right, but you told a group of people who are active and organising they were doing it wrong.
You assumed that they are not lobbying MPs. You assumed their complaints are landing on the desk of some overworked front desk sergeant who has to ease knee deep through papers to address real crime.

pickledandpuzzled · 01/03/2024 17:43

You suggested as it was ‘close to our hearts’ we hadn’t engaged our brains.

What is the role of the PCC, in your opinion? Ours is usually a politician. It’s generally where residents raise issues of policing, outside the force. I’d say it’s exactly the right place.

Don't be silly! No woman could possibly do more than one kind of political action. If one tried her womb would fall out or dry up or something. Please listen to the beer man.

pickledandpuzzled · 01/03/2024 17:45

Quick hint- you could say ‘I’ve written to my mp about it, I got their contact details here. It’s another avenue of complaint.’

Instead you told us what to do. Suggested what we were doing was wrong and wasting police time.

I’m sorry to go on at length but you seem to have missed the cause of everyone’s irritation.

The Government has already said that males committing crimes should be recorded as male people.

This is this force choosing not to do this. The PCC can deal with the complaints, I am sure.

I assumed nothing the only that you are making an assumption based on me being a man excludes me from being uncomfortable with what has transpired.
And further to that after 40 years of interacting with the police upto the rank of Comander I would be naive enough to believe a desk sergeant would be processeing a complaint of this magnitude. Then to top it off when I explain my position sombody else is that up them selves to say that my objection to being labeled as a obvious mysogenist is perceved as Scolding the little women,
Im going to leave you with this one
A trans child was brutaly murderd by two other children a male and female where found guilty and jailed for life for Briannas murder throughout the trial Brianna was referd to as her. I dont know but did you object to Briannas chosen Pro noun in that instance or was it to much of a prickly issue to pick up ? As I said earlier an incredibly difficult issue .

pickledandpuzzled · 01/03/2024 19:09

Where did I say you can’t be uncomfortable with it because you are a man?
Of course you can. You can absolutely agree with us- and still be patronising.

I responded to your tone. Your answer has been to attempt to bolster your position by referencing your 40yrs interacting with the police, including the commander.

I didn’t call you a misogynist. I would say you are steeped in unconscious bias. You are assuming your relative experience and wisdom is greater than that of other people on this board. Based on what, out of interest?

As for Brianna- it’s been pointed out that when the victim is trans that’s front and centre in the coverage. When the perpetrator, it’s muted. Most people here are very concerned about the transing if children. It’s wrong on many levels. We wouldn’t distress Brianna’s friends and family by making an issue of it though.

This is really highlighting the absurdities of this utter nonsense. The crime is recorded as committed by a female yet this 'female' is housed in the male prison. So definitely not a female yet news media cannot bring themselves to report that Scarlet is in fact a man. What a time to be alive.

Not to mention that as soon as people start saying silly things like 'there is a female in that male prison' and 'how many female prisoners are in this male prison' - you are instantly going to push the naive, captured, sentimental and uniformed to say 'poor woman, get her in a women's prison!'.

They are men. Who belong in the male estate. And this confunding of reality has to stop now, because it's gone way past any sensible limits.

lifeturnsonadime · 01/03/2024 12:56

Little Charlotte, I know the thread has moved on but how can women tell if a trans woman has 'transitioned' or not when it comes to including them in women's single sex spaces?

Most don't have any surgery, indeed as others have stated, it's transphobic to suggest they should apparently.

So isn't it easier to keep spaces single sex and keep all trans women out?

Edited

You can't and I've never said you can. I've also never said spaces shouldn't be single sex.

I've already written to my MP on this issue as well.

The insanity of "she's a woman but she has to be incarcerated with males because... reasons" is startling.
I've been wondering how one should word an foi request on the matter? How many women are incarcerated in the male prison estate, would seem easy enough to answer, but, with the deliberate obfuscation around who counts as a woman (but doesn't sometimes, even though she is one you bigots!) it's hard to know if any answer would be worth anything.
I'm waiting for a member of Sir Kier's shadow cabinet to come and explain Schrödinger's trans woman for me.

Froodwithatowel · 02/03/2024 08:25

Not to mention a judge asked the prison service how many males with GRCs were in the female prison system and they said they didn't know.

It's just boggling incompetence.

ChimChimeny · 02/03/2024 08:45

I got a response to my BBC complaint, anyone else get the same?

Thank you for writing in - we note your concerns about our reporting of Scarlet Blake’s conviction.

Scarlet Blake was tried as a woman and the pronoun ‘she’ was used throughout.

BBC reporting in this area follows the publicly available BBC News style guide. It says: “We generally use the term and pronoun preferred by the person in question, unless there are editorial reasons not to do so.” In this case, we considered it editorially appropriate to include the fact that Blake is a transgender woman and did so across our output. We accept that should have been included in the report on the News at One on 26 February.
