@LittleCharlotte i think in the past 5-10 years TRAs have moved on to say that identifying as something means you literally are it, and gender is not sex so physical transformations are not required because being a man/woman is totally uncoupled from being male or female - it's all about your feelings.

So a lot of people may have agreed with you but that is now seen as transphobic.

"Socially transitioning" is a thing and is more akin to what you call "identifying".

Totally get you @LittleCharlotte it's a lot to take in and tbh I genuinely could not believe that I knew people who were fully on board, I questioned it at the time (TW now meaning any self-id as whatever a woman is now supposed to be) and just got told how transphobic it was not to accept every person who self IDs as that identity, for all purposes, at all times.
Including if you are only attracted to one sex or only want to be in a space with one sex at any time... the gender feelings override this.
