Respect biological women’s spaces or be sued, that kind of thing?

Do you have to shoehorn your opinion about trans people into every subject you talk about?

Cosmosforbreakfast · 22/02/2024 11:51

OP, I would love to see all these companies allowing men into women's toilets/changing rooms to be sued. Forcing menopausal women to share facilities with men is not just sex discrimination, it's age discrimination too.

But this is your issue not mine. My issue is and always has been about women’s rights. Not trans this or trans that as some people like to twist it.

That article is about employers failing to make adjustments for the menopause might be sued for sexual or disability discrimination. It is nothing to do with women’s spaces.

but the point is that it’s potential sex discrimination because only women experience menopause and women are a sex not an identity

This. It’s beyond tedious.

Lion400 · 22/02/2024 12:05

To clarify. I was not suggesting menopause and women’s spaces are linked (any more than anything else related to women and women’s rights), I understand the article.

I was saying if we (or ‘they’) can do this so clearly, wrt menopause, can we do it for the foundational issue of biological women and women’s rights?

For you perhaps. For a lot of women, it is not tedious. It is important. It is vital, it is life changing.

You never posting about anything else isn’t important, vital or life changing.

meowie · 22/02/2024 12:11

Convince the great hero and saviour of GC women everywhere, Kemi Badenoch, first to make it illegal to discriminate against people going through the menopause. At present she doesn't think it's an issue Hmm

Not to do with me. Peculiar that you see it that way.

Blinkers still firmly in place, I see. FWR is >>> that way.

Meanwhile there are so, so, so many other issues affecting women to discuss.

🙈 women’s rights are the foundation to all other issues. Without them the rest is indeed pointless. Like building a house on sand.

How very dare a woman have an opinion on a woman's matter. Outrageous eh?

Igmum · 22/02/2024 12:26

Spot on on women's rights @Lion400 and they are also the first to go under the bus for any and every reason from average pay to toilets women's rights are disposable

I don't really have an issue perse with you sharing your opinion about trans rights, I don't think we agree but you can have your opinions whatever but your post is about menopause and discrimination rights so quite frankly has nothing to do with trans women and women's spaces, you just shoehorned the subject in. Like talk about women's spaces in conversations about women's spaces.

It's quite frankly boring and unhelpful to need to talk about trans rights every single time women talk about any women's issue. Can women not talk about the menopause without needing to talk about trans women? There are a lot of pressing women's rights issues that are important that deserve discussion with out someone having to make the conversation focussed around 1% of the population experiencing gender dysphoria existing.

Universalsnail · 22/02/2024 12:43

I have to say for a group of people who insist that people with penises shouldn't be the centre of women's rights issues you seem to really like making penis havers experiencing gender dysphoria centre of all discussion about women's rights issues despite them being a tiny minority 😬

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 22/02/2024 12:50

Not sure what that news item about menopause has to do with the "women with penises nonsense".

I'm interested to see the article, though, and no I don't think it's fantastic, I think it's awful. Menopause is not a "disability". And compelling employers to make special dispensations for menopausal women could well mean they'll be discriminated against when seeking employment.

Cazpar · 22/02/2024 12:52

"Oh heavens, my post is nothing to do with trans people at all, why on earth would you ever think such a thing"

You're so bloody transparent I could use you as a window.

I have just come out of lurking to say I agree with you wholeheartedly.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 22/02/2024 13:06

I'd say the posters who keep coming on to say the OP is tedious, that there are more important issues facing woman etc etc etc are more tedious.

The erasure of women, language surrounding this and the subtle dismantling of safeguarding amongst many other things which trans ideology brings is pretty important to a lot of women. If you don't like it move on to another post.

I'm not sure it's going to benefit menopausal women either, for the reasons you've given.
