How do you feel about women that don't wear make-up -thread 2

Just wondering what your true JUDGY thoughts are? I don't wear makeup often I'm in my mid forties. How am I perceived? Lazy? Frumpy? Not caring? Boring? Can't be bothered to make an effort for others ? Or self confident enough not to ' need' it, regardless of how attractive you view yourself ?

Rarely notice and don’t give it any thought.

I can’t see anyone being nasty.

Perhaps you should read the thread a little less selectively.

I feel sorry for those who wear makeup everyday and feel like they don’t have enough confidence to go without isn’t particularly nice, is it?

Perhaps you should read the thread defensively.
Clearly there are some women wearing make up because they want to.cover up or downplay something they perceive as a flaw.

And that justifies unpleasantness and judgement?

I respect them. I only wear make-up because I don't have the confidence to go without it. And although I only wear light make-up, I still feel a strange relief when I take it off - a bit like when I take my jewellery off.

I know a woman who was super-feminine, always dolled up to the nines, seemed incredibly confident. In her late thirties, she got into body-building and left her husband for a woman. I haven't seen her wear a skirt, high heels, make-up or jewellery (except for her nose piercing) for about six years. She seems so happy now. There's something refreshing about seeing someone who used to be so concerned about looking glamorous just being comfortable in her own skin.

I love that! I feel the same way about Pamela Anderson, she looks so much happier (and also IMO more beautiful) with her barefaced look than she ever did in her 'bimbo' era.

How is saying that they feel sorry for someone lacking confidence, being nasty or judgy?
Isn't confidence what makes everyone feel happier?

I'm sure some are wearing make up to express themselves or for fun too. People do understand how you present is multi faceted.

ChickalettasGiblets · 08/06/2025 19:03

I don’t care, I equally don’t care if they do! Each to their own I say.

I like wearing it, it makes me feel dressed up at work or if I’m going out. The heavy look with lashes etc isn’t my vibe but if they like how they look then so what. I have friends who never wear make up, how I feel about them isn’t influenced by what their face looks like

Livpool · 08/06/2025 19:06

I couldn’t care less!

Make up is the only way I can really express myself in an ‘arty’ way so I love it but I don’t care what other women do

Panterusblackish · 08/06/2025 19:09

I refuse to spend any more time and money than men have to on their appearance. So I'm clean, no make up. Short nails.

I used to put it on for special occasions but won't even do that now.

Very freeing.

Good grief, that’s a whole lot of judgement! Butch lesbian, or religious, or super feminist!? How about she’s ok with looking like herself and doesn’t see the point in painting on a mask? If people don’t like how I look, they’re not going to like me any better if I paint my face, are they?

Very weird. Obviously nothing wrong with being any of those, but very odd to think there's no other reason to eschew makeup...🙄

AliasGrace47 · 04/09/2025 22:12

Sorry, zombie thread!

Auburngal · 04/09/2025 22:16

I don’t wear makeup as:

  1. my eye condition makes it difficult for eye make up to sit, it flakes and irritates my eyes. Not wasting anymore makeup
  2. Have very sensitive skin
Member869894 · 04/09/2025 22:20

Im 59 and have stopped wearing it during the week. It's absolutely liberating. I also love that when I do put on makeup people notice

blubberball · 04/09/2025 22:42

I couldn't give a flying fuck. But maybe because I can't be arsed with make up. On the days I do wear it, it's either a special occasion or I just felt like it

NuovaPilbeam · 04/09/2025 22:43

I don't notice it. I wear very little myself

NuovaPilbeam · 04/09/2025 22:44

Oh and it is fabulously liberating stopping bothering

My skin has never looked better!!

NuovaPilbeam · 04/09/2025 22:48

If she has skin issues that would look better with make up like pigmentation, dark circles, sallow skin (basically how I look without make up) then I would wonder if she is ill, depressed or doesn't know how to apply make up (because that's my situation) because I know she would look better with some

Everyone's view of what looks "better" is different.

Coffeetime25 · 05/09/2025 05:46

dnt own any make up could never see the point of it and it is also expensive if people wanna judge fine I don't need to spend 20 mins or so doing makeup so I can go get a pint of milk it works both ways we judge those who do wear make up and we judge those who don't
