Annoyed by random man incidents

Yes it’s not much in the scheme of things but I’m becoming increasingly annoyed by men in public (I’m sure women do these things too but 90% of the time it’s men in my experience).

Only today I was paying at the self service in Tesco, had the baby (in pram) and 4 year old with me. 6 checkouts, every other checkout was free. The second I tapped my card this man barged between me and the checkout I had used and started scanning his shopping, leaving me flustered as I gathered up my shopping and tried to pack it away while moving the pram and my other child away. The way it happened he’d clearly been waiting to do it, although why I have no idea.

Second occasion we were stood in another shop, a very big tall man comes round the corner of the aisle and rather than wait the split second for me to pull DD towards me so he could pass (was already doing this) he barged past her and almost knocked her over shouting ‘SORRY, SORRY’.

Gah. Yes it all sounds a bit petty written out but I’ve got PMT and have had a few of these incidences lately and am fed up.

The world has gone mad!

I drove round a carpark looking for a space, when I saw one I had to reverse a bit to maneuver in, the male driver behind started beeping his horn like I'd smashed his car up!! Id only put my reverse lights on and hadnt even started to reverse as i had to wait for him to move!! Why was he so close to begin with? Dickhead!

Woman driver decided to play stupid games with not letting me in the line of traffic from a feeder lane, she nearly caused a collision with her car and the one in front of her and was sat laughing in her car! Very strange!!

Another woman driver decided her car was too precious to have any other car near hers and threw an absolute shit fit when I reversed out of my space, nowhere near touching her car, but she deemed the foot of space I had left was already too close!! God I wish I had a fry pan for her face as she tried to scream at me and then try to open my car door!! Batshit crazy!!

Since covid, there has been a huge decline in civility towards others! It's really depressing!!

Ugh.
A Facebook memory of my mine popped up yesterday.
Random man as I was browsing books in a charity shop.. had to ask me why I was wearing wedge shoes 'seeing as you are tall'.. His girlfriend, he told me, was my height, and only wore flats.. far too self conscious to consider anything else.
I wasn't v polite to him

I’m a tall woman, and that winds men up no end as well. They insist I must be a 6foot7 Harlem Globetrotter because I’m taller than them. When I state I’m 5’10 they say, ‘no way because I’m 6 foot and you’re taller than me’ 😂

I'm the same height as you and have men saying exactly the same thing to me!
'Oh you must be over 6 foot.'
'No, I'm 5 foot 10.'
'But I'm 6 foot.'
'Oh really?' 🤔🤣

I’m short and I still get this! I worked with a man who was 5ft 5 but insisted he was 5ft 11 and so I, at 5ft 4, must be 5ft 10. He’s not the only one either!

I can only imagine the carnage you’re leaving in your wake, are you also wearing a cone of shame a la a recently operated on dog? Even the BFG managed not to stand on Sophie.

😂😂😂

Judellie · 19/02/2024 18:39

I parked in a 'drive forward' supermarket car park space, far away from the entrance, not near anything at all, not even the clothing bins.
Of course, when I got back with a trolley full of stuff, a man had parked right up behind me so that I couldn't get in to open the boot!
Not sure what was wrong with the fifty or so spaces all around that were completely empty.

Did you ask him how tall you should be? 😂

alltoomuchrightnow · 19/02/2024 18:44

IAm, he wouldn't let it lie, I wanted to slap him! I pointed out I wasn't trying to look taller (I don't need to, at 5ft 10) but merely loved the shoes.. I often wear absolute skyscapers too.. or did at the time...
Naughty me for taking up sooo much space...

MyopicBunny · 19/02/2024 18:46

I honestly wish I was a lesbian. My life would have been happier.

Userxyd · 19/02/2024 18:52

Some bloke in a van wound his window down today to yell at me that I was going the wrong way up a one way street- he was wrong, the one way bit was the next road along. He drove off before I could correct him. Furious!!!

Fannyfiggs · 19/02/2024 18:52

I'd now be living on that checkout. No fucking way would I have moved faster than a dead slug to let him finish scanning his shopping. Prick!!

I had one particularly memorable instance when I was walking down a wide path and a male runner was running towards me and starting yelling at me to move. I did not and he smacked straight into my chest. Unfortunately for him I'm built like a brick shithouse and he practically bounced off and had to step off the path while I carried on my way Grin

😅😅😅👍👍👍

Mamathebest · 19/02/2024 19:04

OMG yes have had such bad experiences recently. I’m heavily pregnant and have had 2 recent experiences of men being really aggressive. I walked over to a self checkout. Plenty of available ones. A man actually pushed me aside to get to the same one. And said “I got here first”.

I gave him a piece of my mind and from the look on his face, he did not expect that at all! I think some just feel they need to exert their dominance and genuinely shocked when I give it back to them. He left upset and embarrassed. I won’t repeat what was said.

i am a very small woman who wears a hijab. Some men genuinely think I’ll meekly comply.

I had one going mad behind me on a slip road. I'm not a slow driver, but the slip road is uphill and I was in third gear in a 1.2 polo. I can't go any faster!
He was mouthing and gesturing at me, we hit the motorway at 60mph, I moved up to 70 and he carried on at 60 behind me
So what was the fucking point?!

This reminds me of a male driver who did similar gestures to me a few weeks ago. I’d been last in the queue (in the 2nd lane) at the roundabout which turned left onto the highway and only just made it through as the lights were turning amber after me. I hadn’t had a chance to pick up much speed as I’d only just turned onto the highway, when a car came flying up my rear who had clearly sped through the red light as he wasn't in the lane behind me when I turned left. He proceeded in beeping and raging at me as he came right up my backside. I couldn’t just move across to the slow lane out his way as there were 2 huge lorries in it so he had to wait for me to accelerate in order to overtake whilst having a fit the entire time. Idiot.

Someone mentioned on here recently how you never seem to get men who are 5 foot 11 on online dating profiles.

Roiesin57 · 19/02/2024 19:24

After reading all of these experiences I'm starting to get angry for yiu all & hating men!

Moonlightdust · 19/02/2024 19:24

And whilst I’m at it - I have noticed on 3 occasions in the past year when I have taken my DD10 along with one of her gymnastic friends to McDonald’s as a treat, on each separate occasion a male (all around around 50 years of age) have commented on the girls ie “So is it dance or cheerleading?” or after a local competition “I’ve noticed a few of these girls today wearing those tracksuits - what is it they do?” and more oddly after replying “Gymnastics” this one guy proceeded in asking “Oh whereabouts is the club then?”
On two of the occasions, despite there being plenty of free tables these men came and sat right beside the girls. One kept regularly glancing at them so I fiercely glared back and made the girls move over seats.

This isn’t a sexist anti-men rant but genuine incidents involving male members of the public. It’s funny how it’s never a female to comment or bat an eyelid to my daughter or her friends.

Maybe you were below his field of vision? I'm 6'1” and sometimes find myself bumping into short people (e.g. 5 foot).

Do you trample on small dogs too?😂

This has happened to me many times. Not sure if they are totally unaware of themselves, entitled or just plain ignorant.

Men are angry because women are dumping and divorcing their sorry asses. If they improved themselves they wouldn't get dumped, but they seem to believe that women are happy putting up with their disgusting and annoying habits so are caught off guard when they realise we live in the modern world and can divorce/dump them 😂

....

absolutely. My poor grandma, her husband used to keep his salary and drink it off. She built a house, raised animals and made food from scratch, and worked full time and raised a son all on her own. All the man had to say was: Be glad, woman, that a man still lives with you.

he was 15 years older and perhaps sexually impotent also. Oh my goodness

TheFiestyFeminist · 19/02/2024 19:45

There have always been awful men. Years ago I beeped an idiot for overtaking me unsafely in a residential street crowded with parked cars. He stopped in the middle of the road, blocking me, and came back to my car. No sir, I won't open the door or wind the window down. He was gesticulating angrily.

I reached into my handbag, got out my phone and pressed 9 three times. I showed him, and hovered my finger over the green call button. He got in his car and drove off sharpish.

I wish it had been a smart phone, so I could have taken photos of his face and number plate too.

Prelapsarianhag · 19/02/2024 19:46

I could see this male runner through the park railings clearly intending to barge me as he came round the corner. The railings were set into a stone wall beneath which was my dog, which he could not see. He charged round that corner straight into my German Shepherd - what a fright he got.

SplendidUtterly · 19/02/2024 20:00

Like some other ladies have mentioned already i only get the "barge" from men shorter than me (another tall one here).

I'm starting to see a pattern forming🙄
