My husband still thinks everything is because of Covid

Sorry, I didn't know how to word the title.

His attitude is making me want a divorce. Ever since Covid he's adopted views which I completely disagree with and I think he's verging on conspiracy theory.

I just mentioned to him this evening that Chris Hoy has cancer.

Instantly he said "that's because of the Covid vaccine."

WHAT???

I'm actually so angry because he genuinely believes he's right and I'm wrong.

Everything that goes wrong is because of the vaccine.

Wwyd in this situation?

No one got Covid from the vaccine @Charlotte989 and stop hogging the thread, you’re being incredibly unhelpful

Op this would drive me up the wall. I’d find it incredibly unattractive too. Does he have other redeeming features. Marriage counselling worth a try?

Maybe it’s cos of the vaccine 😂

Flamme · 16/02/2024 23:32

I'm reminded of the people who were convinced during the pandemic that the whole thing was a government plot to kill us all off. I never heard one of them explain why the government would want to bugger the economy and kill us off, despite numerous requests.

I wonder how those people now reconcile the fact that most of us are still alive with their theories? Do they think it was an incompetent government plot or something?

Er 22:54 and I quote:

@Charlotte989 Well given over 95% of people in the Uk have contracted covid from a vaccine which needs to be repeated multiple times

You - quite clearly stating that people contracted covid from the vaccine. Who’s posting crap now?

@hot2trotter

Nonsense. How could you possibly know that it was much worse the first time because you hadn't had the vaccine at that point?

I've also had covid 3 times, the first time was much much worse than the second and third. And I haven't had a single vaccine. It was down to my body having the antibodies ready to fight the infection again.

So - a vaccine induces the body to create antibodies without the need of going through the infection itself. When you then meet the infection itself, the body knows how to deal with it. That is why second and third infections - or infections after vaccination - are not as severe as first infections. You are correct, but so is the other poster.

MamaAlwaysknowsbest · 16/02/2024 19:18

I don't blame anything on covid nor the vaccine itself. Never taken the vaccine, nor will take it on, so everybody who thinks certain ways, can think what they want. We still live in a free speech country. Stop mocking the poor conspiracy theorists

Actually this country is not a country of free speech. Hate speech is not allowed. You can get into trouble for saying certain things and too fucking right.

OP I feel for you. It’s not just a difference of opinion. It’s going to make it so you just don’t have any respect for him.

Lots of relationships have suffered because of this utter shit, people become radicalised and you lose them. I think there is help out there, I read an article about a man who went down this rabbit hole but has managed to come to his senses, he now works trying to educate people about these issues.

As for the previous poster saying not every opinion is equal, you’re right, I think it’s the ultimate arrogance not to listen to experts. It shows a total lack of self awareness to not realise the limitations of your knowledge.

Do you have the link to that article please?

niadainud · 17/02/2024 00:41

Meowandthen · 16/02/2024 20:54

That is not due to a vaccine. Surely you can see the difference?

She literally said - twice - it was nothing to do with the vaccine.

Arbor · 17/02/2024 01:07

@niadainud

She literally said - twice - it was nothing to do with the vaccine.

But then, awkwardly, she wrote: "Technically I was right as people contracted covid from the time of the vaccine so "from" doesn't mean literally, it could refer to a timescale".

I would ask him when he qualified as a medical professional. Also, ask if he can provide any peer-reviewed studies that support his theory, and if not why not?

The "peer review" meme again! Haven't you heard of the replication crisis? Most research is junk.

WandaWonder · 17/02/2024 01:24

There is a lot of threads on here people still using covid as an excuse on here

Srgchh · 16/02/2024 22:43

I thought you were saying you didn’t agree with the lockdowns, but apparently you do so we seem to be on the same page here. I willingly locked down each time and would do so again.

I say: Never Again.

Oh, okay. Isn't that what peer review is for?

NotQuiteNorma · 17/02/2024 04:10

It's strange because a lot of people still think their children got autism from a vaccine.

Oh, okay. Isn't that what peer review is for?

Look up the replication crisis. It challenges the reliability of scientific findings, as many studies (perhaps most) now fail to be replicated by other researchers. This calls into question the trustworthiness of scientific methods and findings, and highlights issues like publication bias and oversimplified models of complex phenomena.

Perfect28 · 17/02/2024 08:29

Yeah I couldn't be married to a conspiracy theorist, shows a distinct lack of critical thinking.
