My husband still thinks everything is because of Covid

Sorry, I didn't know how to word the title.

His attitude is making me want a divorce. Ever since Covid he's adopted views which I completely disagree with and I think he's verging on conspiracy theory.

I just mentioned to him this evening that Chris Hoy has cancer.

Instantly he said "that's because of the Covid vaccine."

WHAT???

I'm actually so angry because he genuinely believes he's right and I'm wrong.

Everything that goes wrong is because of the vaccine.

Wwyd in this situation?

@MamaAlwaysknowsbest

The poster wants opinions , not to be shut down

The OP was asking opinions on how she should handle her husband who has been taken over by conspiracy theories in respect of the Covid vaccine . She wasn't asking for opinions on his views.

Not one person is shutting the OP down . Most are agreeing that living with someone like this would be very difficult .

It's interesting the one conspiracy theorist on here struggles with reading comprehension

I noticed that too.

It's just a difference of opinion surely? I mean you obviously got on when you married, so why would someone saying they don't agree on one thing make you want to divorce them. Is there more to this?

I don't agree with everything my OH says, but I wouldn't fall out over one difference of opinion.

That is not a difference of opinion. The husband is a foil hat wearing fuckwit.

MamaAlwaysknowsbest · 16/02/2024 20:54

Not a conspiracy theorist, no worries
however, I do not do adult vaccines if this what the opinion is based upon

++++

To be fair to your DH whilst Covid vaccines had bugger all to do with cancer rates, the lockdowns did discourage people going to the doctors meaning that many cancers were not detected or diagnosed until late stage. Equally some cancer patients had their cancer treatments delayed because of Covid as well.

As a result deaths from cancer have increased as a result of the Covid measures. But to be clear this has nothing to do with the vaccine.

That is not due to a vaccine. Surely you can see the difference?

Eh? Your comments are somewhat incoherent. Are you suggesting that you don’t get vaccines??? If so, that screams conspiracy nutter.

edit for annoying autocorrect

Hmmm. I wouldn’t be with anyone who has this ‘difference of opinion’

But his opinion is clearly ludicrous and based on conspiracies.

MamaAlwaysknowsbest · 16/02/2024 20:59

no worries, mama always best.

Trulyme · 16/02/2024 20:59

I know quite a few people like your DH and it’s worrying.

I think some people really struggled with the fact that there was something that was out of their/the government’s control and it really scared them and so now they live in constant fear.

The only way they can cope with that fear is to find something to blame.

I honestly couldn’t be with someone who was so stupid and I would need a very frank discussion with him and explain that if he carries on you will have to rethink the relationship.

bringmorewashing · 16/02/2024 19:15

Sympathy OP. I have a family member who blames everything on Covid vaccines and has now gone down a rabbit hole of other conspiracies. At this point, they can hardly go five minutes over a cup of tea without wedging vaccines, Russia or Trump into any random conversation! Thankfully I can reduce contact. If DH did this I wouldn't be able to stand it.

Are we related? 😂

I’ve got to the point with my relative that I’m amazed anyone died at all before the vaccine.

I reduce contact. If it was my DH I think I’d seriously consider divorce.

MamaAlwaysknowsbest · 16/02/2024 21:06

so people ridiculing the poster's husband of being stupid and she should divorce him? What a lovely bunch of people hey

ShiveringMeTimbers · 16/02/2024 21:09

I have a friend who does this, except instead of Covid it’s ‘trauma’.

‘X has just found out they have cancer’

’Had they experienced trauma?’

’X has an autoimmune disease’

‘I bet it was triggered by trauma’

‘I don’t understand why X is being such a twat’

’Maybe because of trauma?’

Arghhhh

PeopleAreWeird · 16/02/2024 21:10

Lots of people like this around now

Someone in the crowd of a football game collapses, Everyone says ‘ Was the vaccine that caused it ‘

‘Someone diagnosed with a blood clot , everyone says
‘Vaccine thats done it’

Its SOOO boring !!!!

ShyPinkHelper · 16/02/2024 21:13

Cough on 'im.

YoureALizardHarry11 · 16/02/2024 21:20

Study after study shows that conspiracy theorists, by and large, lack intelligence and are under educated with no analytical skills. That also plays out in real life as I’ve never met one I thought was remotely intelligent. You can tell by the way they type/talk as well as the way they repeat the same sound bites with no originality. Give it a rest. Yes, it would annoy me and I’d divorce 😂

😂😂😂 It’s true, believing them gives people a false sense of knowledge and intelligence about things they struggle to understand, it allows them to feel superior and in control because they lack the actual skills to decipher information. Being out of control is scary, so clinging on to them fills that void, although in the end it doesn’t really help. It’s maladaptive.

Thementalloadisreal · 16/02/2024 19:04

I have a few people in my life who think everything was caused by vaccines.

The maddest one at the moment is “everyone has coughs and colds at the moment, probably because of the Covid vaccine”.. um no, it’s much more likely to be because of Covid! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Honestly if my husband started with this shit I wouldn’t be able to take him seriously anymore.

Yes, exactly this. How can you trust or value the judgement of someone who spouts this sort of nonsense?

‘’Sheep’’. I think the irony is lost on you considering conspiracy theorists never demonstrate an original thought as you have just proven 😂

My ex best friend was like this. She completely alienated me and we haven't spoken for two years now. We were friends for 37 🙁
