My husband still thinks everything is because of Covid

Sorry, I didn't know how to word the title.

His attitude is making me want a divorce. Ever since Covid he's adopted views which I completely disagree with and I think he's verging on conspiracy theory.

I just mentioned to him this evening that Chris Hoy has cancer.

Instantly he said "that's because of the Covid vaccine."

WHAT???

I'm actually so angry because he genuinely believes he's right and I'm wrong.

Everything that goes wrong is because of the vaccine.

Wwyd in this situation?

@Charlotte989 Here you go, and there’s plenty of literature on it as well. I’m not talking gibberish whatsoever. It just shows how easily manipulated you all are as you can’t decipher fact from fiction, and you don’t like people pointing that out because obviously it dents your egos.

@Charlotte989 the state of the NHS is because of chronic underfunding by the Tories

It's just a difference of opinion surely? I mean you obviously got on when you married, so why would someone saying they don't agree on one thing make you want to divorce them. Is there more to this?

I don't agree with everything my OH says, but I wouldn't fall out over one difference of opinion.

It's not just a difference of opinion though. It's believing in unproven and dangerous conspiracy theories and having them shape your world view. And then inflicting that on your partner too.

@Charlotte989 you seem to be taking this very personally. Is there a reason behind your anger and upset?

I can think some of the rules didn’t make sense without believing the whole virus was nonsense and the vaccines cause every ill and it was all set up to kill us or whatever else utter nonsense conspiracy theorists are thick enough to believe 🤣 it was a brand new virus that no one understood how best to deal with and our government was incompetent with Boris and co at the helm.

You think it’s the reverse despite loads of proof to the contary that says conspiracy theorists lack intellect? Oh yeah, silly me, you can’t be convinced by evidence as that’s all part of the conspiracy 😂

There’s plenty of other links if you want them? The point being is that no matter what I post, nothing will convince you because you don’t want to believe it, of course you don’t want to believe anything that goes against your beliefs or anything that dents your ego and makes you feel stupid. I could post study after study and you will dismiss it and twist it to fit your existing beliefs, that’s the whole thing about people with your mindset. The irony, as I said, is lost

I would. If we were in a position again where there was a new, unknown, seemingly highly contagious and deadly virus whose transmission mode was unknown - I would lockdown again whilst scientists around the world worked on some answers and to limit the number of people needing urgent healthcare.

It was a sensible thing to do and would be again.

TheRealMamaLlama · 16/02/2024 22:35

I was thinking of writing a similar post OP. My dh is currently on about disconnecting us from the Internet and only using cash to pay for things from now on. No thought for the fact my business is completely run online 🙄

Solidarity 🤘🏼

I don’t know because my husband is the same.

Sad about Chris Hoy this is the first I’ve heard

Yes, sadly.

I read the article, was diagnosed last year and wanted to keep it private but apparently his ‘hand was forced’. If that’s accurate it’s a terrible thing to do to someone.

Different opinions half of my friends didn't get vaccine others did. We still lost a family member from covid and no response there health problems and she had had all the vaccines also

ALongHardWinter · 16/02/2024 22:39

So annoying. I have a friend who insists on blaming the death of 2 people he knew on the fact that they'd had the covid vaccine.
