My husband still thinks everything is because of Covid

Sorry, I didn't know how to word the title.

His attitude is making me want a divorce. Ever since Covid he's adopted views which I completely disagree with and I think he's verging on conspiracy theory.

I just mentioned to him this evening that Chris Hoy has cancer.

Instantly he said "that's because of the Covid vaccine."

WHAT???

I'm actually so angry because he genuinely believes he's right and I'm wrong.

Everything that goes wrong is because of the vaccine.

Wwyd in this situation?

I thought you were saying you didn’t agree with the lockdowns, but apparently you do so we seem to be on the same page here. I willingly locked down each time and would do so again.

Hahaha. Again, irony! So you know where to get FACTS do you!? Since when has a conspiracy theorist ever provided convincing evidence? They NEVER do. Yet, repeated studies, not just one, back up what I was saving.

I’ve never ever read a convincing piece of evidence from a conspiracy theorist, and in fact getting any evidence AT ALL is vanishingly rare, 99.9% of the time if we ask for evidence we get, ‘’Do your own research!’’

The burden of proof lies with the people who make the claims. You couldn’t critically evaluate ‘’evidence’’ if your life depended on it 😂 Your beliefs are proof of that.

My Dad had a brain aneurysm, which ruptured two days after his first vaccine, now I could blame that , or the fact that he was old, had high bp and high family incidence of this indicating a inherited propensity for a rupture.(congenital malformation of a blood vessel in the brain)
Being rational we have dismissed the vaccine as a cause of death. Many would add two and two and imake ten

My ex was (& still is) like this, he is very ‘blame’ natured. He’s obsessed with it. We split 2 years ago & he still sends me messages & videos to ‘show’ me everything is related to the vaccine.

I honestly think if you’re highly strung & like to apportion blame generally in life, you might go this way.

looking back before I ended it, the videos on full blast, the ‘you have to watch ex pharma scientist professor’ you need to open your eyes etc it just absolutely ground me down. Then he moved onto new world order, MSM poisoning us, Andrew rats/Russell brand… it was relentless. But confirmation that I’m better off.

I don’t think anyone is angry except perhaps you? Nor proven to have been wrong except perhaps you?

The lockdowns worked, the vaccines work…we’ve been able to largely return to normal because of these measures.

This thread is a 'great' example of how people can no longer disagree on matters of fact or opinion without resorting to hurling personal criticisms.

It is a shame, and unhelpful, that so much discourse results in insulting eachother these days.

I used the caps lock on two words for emphasis, and now your drivel is boring me so I’m not even going to bother reading the rest of your comment as we are going round in circles, as always with conspiracy theorists.

It’s a losing battle, you can’t argue with stupid people who can’t be convinced by anything that challenges their deeply entrenched beliefs. Good night.

No. The majority weren’t ‘flat earthers’. Most people knew the earth was round. This idea that people thought you would fall off the edge if you sailed to far is nonsense.

OP, I suggest you tell him this is a clear case of the Dunning-Kruger effect.

No one has contacted Covid from the vaccine.

The vaccine doesn’t stop you catching it, it stops it being so bad. I’ve had Covid 3 times. Once before I was vaccinated and twice afterwards. The one when I was unvaccinated was so much worse.

This is awful but also typical. Conspiracy theorists of one theory start subscribing to lots of other unsubstantiated theories.

There is a typical believer and it is to do with mental health/lack of control/narcissism. A need to believe they know more/better than the next person. It helps make up for other anger or resentment. Conspiracy theorists don’t tend to be happy and successful types.

Nonsense. How could you possibly know that it was much worse the first time because you hadn't had the vaccine at that point?

I've also had covid 3 times, the first time was much much worse than the second and third. And I haven't had a single vaccine. It was down to my body having the antibodies ready to fight the infection again.

This is so interesting, thank you. The reason we split was his need to be ‘top dog’ and in his words ‘put on a pedestal’ along with other grumpy behaviour, which just didn’t work for me once we had a child. He also is prone to anxiety & very highly strung.

Makes perfect sense!

Why do people blame the vaccine but not the original Virus? No one knows what they were trying to create in that lab and the lying about it for so long was not helpful.

owlsinthedaylight · 16/02/2024 23:13

@Woman355 I think, unintentionally, your thread has perfectly illustrated the problem that you are currently living with.

It must be utterly exhausting. I don’t know how you are managing.

Does he recognise there is a problem? Does he see that something has changed? Or is he oblivious?

Has something happened that might have triggered his behaviour?

@MadeOfAllWork

"The vaccine doesn’t stop you catching it, it stops it being so bad. I’ve had Covid 3 times. Once before I was vaccinated and twice afterwards. The one when I was unvaccinated was so much worse."

++++

I absolutely agree with you that the vaccine doesn't stop you catching or spreading Covid it simply stops the reaction being so bad.

That said at the time the majority believed that the vaccine did indeed stop you catching it and did indeed stop you spreading it. The whole campaign and societal pressure that those refusing the vaccine were endangering us all. Anyone questioning the vaccine's ability to stop you catching it or spreading it was labelled an anti vaxxer conspiracy theorist or with a low intelligence.

Further more I have no doubt that the as a novel virus the first time you contracted Covid your bodily reaction was worse than the second or third time.

Genuine question, do you think this was due to having had the vaccine by bout two and three or by having developed natural antibodies by bout two and three?
