Sorry if this is on the wrong thread but i'm not sure where to put it

Nearly 2yrs ago i had surgery to remove a sarcoma (no treatment afterwards as not needed). My 6 month scan was clear and i had another scan 4wks ago to check if it had come back. The hospital have rang today and told me they had booked me in next Friday to see a member of the surgery team. I am abaolutely terrified and beside myself with worry. I am a single parent to a very young child who has no contact with dad due to domestic abuse. I barely have any family/friend support. If the cancer is back i really don't know what i will do. I feel physically ill

What wonderful news this is, sending you all the positivity and healing possible

Nanaof1 · 05/05/2024 07:53

I have been thinking of you and hoping your surgery went well. Sorry you had a complication, but it does sound like your surgeon and his staff were caring and alert.

Continue to heal and will still be sending healing thoughts your way.

I am in so much pain 😢 i've barely slept all night. The drain in my side i've come home with is hurting really bad and its hard to get comfy on a normal bed. At this point i don't feel like i will ever recover

You will. It's rubbish now but it will get better.

PaintInColour · 05/05/2024 08:59

Well done for getting through the operation OP.

Who is supporting you? These ops really do take their toll. Am so glad the surgery was a success though. Do call the hospital again if things get too difficult. Thinking of you xx

ooooohnoooooo · 05/05/2024 09:05

The first few days after surgery are brutal.

I hope you have someone looking after you. Don't expect too much of yourself. This is one of the hardest bits. Day by day you will improve and then before you know it , this will all be behind you.

Little by little, rest, eat little and often, whatever you fancy. Soup is good. Drink lots. The water feeds your bone marrow which grows the white blood cells to fight infection and red blood cells to take blood to heal you. It's one of the most vital things to aid recovery.

You're through the worst. Everything gets better from here Flowers

poetryandwine · 05/05/2024 09:48

You will recover! But if the pain around the drain is unmanageable please call NHS Direct and ask for a doctor to call you back about this.

I am sorry to bring this up but it is important: I know someone who had a kidney op and this pain was the first sign of a post op infection. It wasn’t caught quickly and she was back in hospital for a week. Everything is probably okay, but please get a medical opinion. 🩷🩷

Bless you, OP. You will get through this, can you make yourself more comfortable with pillows by your side? As PPs have said, you will soon be through this and feeling more like yourself.

Banrion · 06/05/2024 23:48

I'm so happy to hear that the surgery was a success. Can you get some better pain relief?

noctilucentcloud · 07/05/2024 18:52

I hope your pain's better today OP

STST · 07/05/2024 20:24

How’re you doing @Lostmymind11

Thinking of you, hope pain has eased and you are feeling a bit better. Surgery is a true shock to the body - rest up as much as you can.

Lostmymind11 · 08/05/2024 09:40

I ended up back in hospital yesterday to see my surgeon who removed my drain. I feel 100% better today than i have the past few days and no longer in extreme pain
