To think this is a vote winner (though not election clincher) from Sunak?

Thought this was an impressive and clear response to the question, from Rishi. I suppose Labour will likely win by a landslide, because many people don’t care enough about women’s rights. Because I do care very much about women’s rights, I may vote Conservative for the first time ever (cue outrage for Lion). Will I regret it? Possibly. But I’d regret voting for Labour (aka women’s rights removers), even more.

Imagine voting Tory on a single issue after 14 long years of this corrupt shambles.

This.

Wrecked the country and then vote for them on something they aren't even good on anyway. Sounds like a die in the wool Tory looking for anyway possible to continue voting Tory. Sad really

Lion400 · 13/02/2024 11:30

Either people don’t read all of the information in front of them, or they do read it but comprehension is not a strong point.

Of course there are many other issues affecting women and children. However without the foundation of clearly defining biological sex, and the implications of that, we are left in a morass of shit.

Since time began the oppression of women has been based on sex, and sex alone. We are in a perilous position now where that oppression is about to be made even easier.

In my original post I stated ‘cue outrage’, wasn’t wrong.

Care about women’s rights but want to vote for a party that didn’t let misogyny become a hate crime. A party that has increased the cost of living which impacts women more at home and in the labour market. A party that has made childcare costs increase which affects who? Oh yeah mostly women.

What about the party that refused to make menopause a protected characteristic in the equality act? Or a party that has consistently voted against abortion rights.

Just say you don’t like trans people instead of saying you’re voting for a party because you care about women’s rights.

So by the same token, care about women's rights but vote for a party which introduced this shit show with the GRA, is not doubling down on that and is openly harassing their own MPs if they speak up against that hatred?

What's next, a 3 word slogan to really clinch it.

Oh god no, they've definitely got worse the last 14 years but when you look at how much worse things are in blatantly misogynistic societies, it makes me fear how much worse things csn get if we let the proudly anti women labour party in. Sadly lib dem and green are equal MRAs.

If you acknowledge that things have got so much worse for women over the last 14 years of Tory rule, why on earth would you put your faith in them as the guardians of women's rights? Can't you see that it's just empty rhetoric?

Is it the triumph of hope over experience, or what? I think all this shit about how much worse it could be under Labour is just fearmongering. It's already shit under the Tories. What exactly do you think is going to change when Labour gets in?

cardibach · 13/02/2024 11:48

Lion400 · 12/02/2024 23:55

Sorry I thought I’d been clear. To put it bluntly. They don’t think women can have penises.

Edited

And they use the knowledge of who doesn’t have one so they know who to disadvantage, exploit and assault. Oh, and not protect in law either. Again. How does that help and why are they better for you? (Other than saying - but not meaning or caring about - one sentence you want to hear).

ChunkyTofu · 13/02/2024 11:50

There aren't many people I dislike more than a Tory prime minister, which makes it very hard to watch him speaking clear sense in that clip.
Not sure I could vote that way ever though. But I also won't be voting Labour they have completely lost my vote.

I've never said they're the guardians of women's rights?

OneTC · 13/02/2024 11:53

KTheGrey · 13/02/2024 10:55

Right wing media was willing to report on the conflict between women's rights and unreasonable demands from trans women (medical and intimate care, sports etc.) Left wing media wasn't. You seldom agree or disagree with anybody on everything, so the argument about sources is effectively an ad hominem.

Labour have not shown themselves as friends to women on this issue.

We just went into recession and are 5% poorer than we would be had we stayed in the EU, so winning the next election is a poisoned chalice. I would quite like to vote for The Party of Women because she's clear on what she wants, and I am clear I want that too. I don't expect to agree with KJK on many many issues, but I have to vote for a party which I agree with on my biology. The alternative is dystopian.

I thought they failed to get the party registered?

‘And they use the knowledge of who doesn’t have one so they know who to disadvantage, exploit and assault. Oh, and not protect in law either’

Please explain this a bit more. Exploit? Assault? Who is exploiting who? Who is assaulting who? What form of exploitation? What form of assault?

literalviolence · 13/02/2024 11:56

I think labour will double down on the awful GRA and the word woman will become meaningless. I think I will have no right to single sex health care and some women will not have healthcare as a result, I think sexual assault rates will rise and the meaningless stats will obscure the true picture. I think open misogyny will become more mainstream and antiquated views about women's character (largely which reduce our power) will have an even greater resurgence. I think life expectancy of children who are told that if they breach gender norms will reduce and increasing amounts of the NHS budge will be spent on fixing something which doesn't have to be a problem if we don't make it one. I think societies. most vulnerable will suffer more.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 13/02/2024 11:57

Well you would not be the first person taken in by Tory bullshit and expecting them to stick to what they say they will do. I despair that after 13 years anyone thinks this shower is out to do anything but self aggrandizement and kick backs from their mates as they merrily carve up public infrastructure.

cardibach · 13/02/2024 11:58

Moonmelodies · 13/02/2024 07:29

When you eventually do get them done, have a look what Labour have done to the NHS in Wales.

There’s always one. There are reasons outwith the control of the Labour Welsh Government. Plus lots of it works very well (and better than my friends in England experience).

CormorantStrikesBack · 13/02/2024 12:01

I care about women’s rights but I care about vulnerable peoples rights more. So I’d never vote Tory.

It was Labour under Blair who started ‘carving up’ or privatising the NHS.

While you’re all arguing over which steaming pile of shit to choose, I’m wondering why we only have a choice of piles of shit to choose from and not a choice that isn’t a pile of shit.

Why are we in a position where all of the political parties are pushing misogynistic policies and selling women’s rights down the river?

How have we got here and why are we standing for it?

The answer to your question is FPTP elections.
We desperately need proper PR. Nobody is offering it though.

GB News. Give me strength.

So you’re voting for a party whose members gerrymandered rather than let a bill criminalising upskirting go through, thinking they’re passionate about women’s rights? If you’re falling for the kind of stuff GB News pedal then you’re behind help. Still, loads of GB News/culture wars protagonists out there with you, you may just get what you want.

Women and children are always disproportionately affected by the Conservative policies, but don’t let that stop you.

I don't think you know what gerrymandered means...

It was Labour under Blair who started ‘carving up’ or privatising the NHS.

Bollocks - it was Thatcher’s internal market. 1989 to be precise. I was no fan of New Labour continuing Tory “reforms” but it’s completely untrue to say Blair invented privatisation in the NHS.

MissingMoominMamma · 13/02/2024 12:11

Are they putting the money in at school age to support children who are questioning their identity?

No, they’re underfunding education and MH services, in the same way they’re underfunding the NHS.

It’s all bullshit.

WeAreWarriorsWeAreWarriors · 13/02/2024 12:14

ghostyslovesheets · 12/02/2024 23:15

However we know with certainty that Labour will make it worse for women. Biological men will be allowed in to domestic violence shelters, rape crises centres, women’s prisons, women’s and girls changing rooms, girls toilets, women’s sport. And more

but that is a fight that we are ALREADY having under the Tories - and will continue to fight under the next government - it's not going away. The Tories have been in power for 14 years - where is the legislation if they are so pro women? Can't see them rushing to stop men playing in women's sport or access women only services - just making crass remarks to score points

Exactly this.
