To not vote Labour because of their abhorrent views on the female sex?

Lion400 · 05/02/2024 18:43

Starmer cannot represent women, he can’t even define us. Questioning a trans person is a hate crime, but misogyny is not. Sorry Labour, you’ve lost my vote. Have they lost anyone else’s??

‘On trans ideology, the vast majority of voters, and certainly a majority of traditional Labour voters from working class backgrounds, tend to cast a sceptical eye on the tenets of an ideological movement that asserts that biological men must be accepted as women – and be offered similar rights and access to women’s spaces and sports as women – simply by asserting their new status’

Transgender ideology has created the biggest medical scandal of our generation

Vulnerable young people who transitioned before they were ready are paying a high price for this disastrous project

Oh dear, is there a need to distract from Sunak's Trading Places bet with Piers Morgan?

EasternStandard · 05/02/2024 20:08

OP, you're being very silly.

That's nice dear.

That’s telling you op. Good level of condescension there

CaribouCarafe · 05/02/2024 20:09

Who are you planning to vote for instead, OP?

BIossomtoes · 05/02/2024 20:09

Cazpar · 05/02/2024 18:46

Why are you posting an article from August last year in order to dredge up and rehash a topic that's been done to death, reanimated and done to death again ad infinitum on here?

Edited

And from The Torygraph of all things. Anyone who believes anything that right wing rag prints about Labour policy is very gullible indeed.

ExtraOnions · 05/02/2024 20:10

I don’t vote based on one topic, I vote for the party who I think, in a rounded way, will benefit myself and my community.

What a disgusting thing to say. Those men are lower than the belly of a snake.

I’m loving these threads this week. What you mean is: ‘The Tories have literally stolen the magic money tree and used it to buy their friends yachts and then danced and had a canapé or two on people’s graves, is it ok if I still vote for them because the media keep on telling me to?’

Sorry, just thought I’d put it into simpler language. HTH.

No wonder they are so complacent.

BobbyBiscuits · 05/02/2024 20:01

@pointythings Soz, can't find who said those stats but I got this from the ONS website- (it did not mention changing rooms or bathrooms)

Location-For the years ending March 2017 and March 2020 combined, the most common location for rape or assault by penetration to occur was in the victim’s home (37%), followed by the perpetrator’s home (26%). The assault had taken place in a park, other open public space, car park or on the street for 9% of victims.

Bless.

‘A naked grown man in the same space as kids and women changing for eg. Swimming. The significant majority of sexual assaults happen in unisex toilets / changing rooms’

I thought it was obvious I was referring to unisex as opposed to single sex changing rooms, given that was the context.

But you knew that.

I'm clinging to the hope that Starmer does a massive uturn on this issue. Looks very unlikely though. If he doesn't, I will not vote Labour. This is too important.

NashvilleQueen · 05/02/2024 20:16

What I think I know is that you're shilling for the Tories tbh.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 05/02/2024 20:18

@Fluffyowl00 this x a million 👏👏👏

No, what happened is that you made a claim without any context and were called on it, and now you're rowing back. You could easily have added 'comprising x% of total recorded sexual assaults in the UK', you could have added 'out of a total of y recorded leisure centre attendances'. But you didn't, you went for the sensationalist Daily Mail style headline instead.

Bless.

AdamRyan · 05/02/2024 20:21

What I'm finding interesting is the poll gradually getting closer the longer its up. Usually they are pretty static by p5

BIossomtoes · 05/02/2024 20:22

Clearly not. You should really say what you mean rather than expecting us all to be clairvoyant.

Don’t think for a moment that the Tories give 2 hoots about women’s rights. The rampant misogyny of the right will never go away.

I’ll take my chances with Labour. At least they have some respect for humanity.

This a thousand times!

Atethehalloweenchocs · 05/02/2024 20:23

None of the parties are any different on this matter.

sausagepastapot · 05/02/2024 20:25

I'm voting Tory. I can't vote Labour, or any others that believe women have penises.

Never ever ever.

Westfacing · 05/02/2024 20:27

I’m as annoyed with Labour and Starmer as the next woman, but who else can we vote for?

May be as a distraction from Sunak's abhorrent interview with Piers Morgan?

But women's rights (from GC feminists' perspectives) have already been eroded under Tory rule. So what is continuing with Tory rule going to actually achieve?

miniaturepixieonacid · 05/02/2024 20:30

I think YABU.
I'm a Lib Dem member so will be voting for them in a tory heavy area where LDs come second. But LDs are worse than Labour on the trans issue so I have the same problem as you.

That one issue won't stop me voting for them though. Compared to everything else it's minor. I don't believe TWAW but I have met one TW in my entire life. I compare that to the countless people I've met who have had to use foodbanks or clothing banks. Who have had benefits stopped or messed up. Who have had operations cancelled, waited months for essential treatments or waited hours for ambulances. Who faithfully followed ridiculous Covid guidelines for loved ones' funerals, weddings or hospital stays while MPs partied. Whose children have no qualified teacher, no SEND support or are stuck in hideously underfunded and underresourced classrooms. And then I know I could do far worse than vote Lib Dem - despite them being idiots over the trans thing.

Noicant · 05/02/2024 20:31

I think womens rights are a good a reason as any to be a single issue voter. Once rights are rolled back they will be impossible to re-instate.

If the community actually gave a fuck about women then people would have said “whats that rapist doing trying to get into a womans prison, out you get bob”., “whats the bloke doing on that rugby pitch on a womans team, he’ll do someone an injury, off you fuck Dave”. It would never have got to this point if women were actually considered to be people.

Women have to advocate for themselves, it’s been the history of women across cultures, countries and time.

I don’t think the yelling “oi you dirty tory” works on anyone btw. You can’t shame someone into voting how you want. People have to believe you are better than the other people. If you have to use guilt and shame instead of actual policies and arguments there is something wrong. Labour supporters do this every election and managed to lose most elections. I’ve voted Labour plenty of times but dear god do I despair at some of it’s supporters.

TheSpruce · 05/02/2024 20:32

@ExtraOnions that's far too intelligent a take for this site!

Honestly I think many didn’t know what the hell was going on. There has been new guidance on transwomen in womens prisons, the tavistock was closed down, new guidance is being issued to schools etc. What are Labour going to do?
