To not vote Labour because of their abhorrent views on the female sex?

Starmer cannot represent women, he can’t even define us. Questioning a trans person is a hate crime, but misogyny is not. Sorry Labour, you’ve lost my vote. Have they lost anyone else’s??

‘On trans ideology, the vast majority of voters, and certainly a majority of traditional Labour voters from working class backgrounds, tend to cast a sceptical eye on the tenets of an ideological movement that asserts that biological men must be accepted as women – and be offered similar rights and access to women’s spaces and sports as women – simply by asserting their new status’

Transgender ideology has created the biggest medical scandal of our generation

Vulnerable young people who transitioned before they were ready are paying a high price for this disastrous project

I am a lifelong Labour voter.

They have lost me too over this.

AIstolemylunch · 05/02/2024 19:02

I'm the same, could never vote Tory and now can't vote Labour, or LD or Green who are even worse about the trans BS. I'm planning not to vote at the GA, something I never thought I'd say and not arrived at that lightly. I think they all need a kick up the arse and historic low vote return out might help with that.

Is that a quote from Starmer? He didn't ask me...

Cancelledcurio · 05/02/2024 19:04

Yep I know but this has all been happening under the Tories as well. Plus women ( particularly black women and poor women) dying at an alarming rate in childbirth , plus a horrendous rate of child poverty, plus a completely fucked NHS,plus a horrific cost of living crisis which the Tories have basked in, plus many women being sexually assaulted on NHS care, plus the practically decriminalisation of rape and sexual assault, plus the shocking numbers of girls sexually assaulted at school. I hate the Tories. Labour are completely rubbish as well and make me cringe but I will vote for them if they can improve those maternal mortality figures alone . I hate gender ideology. But women shouldn't be dying in childbirth because they are poor or because of the colour of their skin.

LSTMS30555 · 05/02/2024 19:14

I won't vote labour or Lib Dem's for this reason and so obviously I'll be voting conservatives anything else is a wasted vote.
But than I haven't voted labour since the cover up of Rotherham child sexual abuse of 1400 children.

BobbyBiscuits · 05/02/2024 19:15

You are unlikely to get a positive story about Labour from the Telegraph.
Do more research about you local labour group, do they represent what you want for where you live? I would say do not vote Tory. Other than that I guess it's about who seems to resonate with you. I come from a very heavy labour area and will probably vote for them as always. We have a lot of feminists in our local labour group who are not fully pro a lot of things about trans-women.
The issue I worry about is how many people will be unable to vote because they have no photo ID? This applies to a lot of people in my area and beyond.

HermioneWeasley · 05/02/2024 19:17

I’m a floating voter and will not vote Labour due to this issue. They cannot be trusted with women’s rights and once those are lost, they’re lost forever.

Cancelledcurio · 05/02/2024 19:18

@BobbyBiscuits yes same in my area and not everyone has /can afford a passport/driver's license, so it's imperative they are kept informed about postal votes. Bloody shameful so it is - it's trying snatch votes off the poorest.

Never ever voted Labour in my life anyhow.. don't ever intend to.. especially now.

NashvilleQueen · 05/02/2024 19:24

We need to get the Tories out because our public services can't sustain another four years of this government. And it is at such a critical stage that even though I feel Labour have lost their way on trans issues I have to vote for whoever will get rid of the Tories.

I know that I won't feel I've made a point of principle if I wake up the day after an election and Sunak or Truss or Badenoch are in charge. It so happens that in my constituency I have to vote Lib Dem as Labour have no chance but they're just as bad on this issue so it's not ideal either.

SilkyMoonfaceSaucepanMan · 05/02/2024 18:44

It’s why I won’t vote for them.

Yeah, course it is.

PrawnDumplings · 05/02/2024 19:29

If you don't vote the tories out, then you might as well be voting Tory & saying you don't give a fuck about schools, the NHS, people who don't earn the highest salaries.... there is more than one topic of importance.

PrawnDumplings · 05/02/2024 19:30

GreyCarpet · 05/02/2024 18:56

I'm not sure why so many people are jumping on Tories are no friend to women. The OP hasn't said she will vote Tory. Just that she can't vote for Labour.

I won't vote Tory either.

But I can't vote Labour.

That's the problem.

Then you're not voting the Tories out. This is what they are counting on.

UtredSonOfUtred · 05/02/2024 19:30

It’s why I won’t vote for them, but who on Earth DO I vote for?!?!

ilovesooty · 05/02/2024 19:30

Do as you please. I doubt if most people are interested in who you won't vote for.

PrawnDumplings · 05/02/2024 19:30

OlympicProcrastinator · 05/02/2024 18:58

Labour supporter my entire adult life. Never have and never will vote Tory.

But they have lost me on this issue. The other party doesn’t want my vote. So I’ll just sit in and drink wine and cake on GE day.

Fuck em all 🍷

It doesn't work like that.

They're not getting my vote.

I might spoil my ballot.

0MammaBear0 · 05/02/2024 18:58

All politicians are crooks, maybe if people stopped giving them votes and attention they'd sort themselves out..

Yeah. That's going to happen 🙄

Yorkshirelass04 · 05/02/2024 19:31

Sorry I think we need to put this issue aside and vote Labour.

They are the only party likely to beat the Tories.

We have to do it.

Me too. This will be the first time I haven't voted in a general election but my conscience just won't allow me to vote Tory or Labour (and no point in voting Lib Dem obvs).

No I agree.

Definition of women is important but so is the overall welfare of the whole population which obviously the Tories don't give a shit about. And they are corrupt.

It's an EASY decision to vote Labour.
