Grandmother killed by 2 XL bullies whilst apparently separating fighting bully pups.

Longer jail sentences, minimum of 5 years for owners of dogs that kill people for not controlling them.

I’m so over this now. There are many more years to come of these vile dogs especially as some are mere puppies now. How many more deaths? Enough is enough - round the fuckers up and humanely destroy them, each and every one.

Dontkillspiders · 05/02/2024 21:51

Mum and dad dog were in the house with the puppies. Lady hit the puppies with a broom, dogs attacked her.
Absolute tragic but let's not act like they attacked out of nowhere.

Everyone says their "dogs are gentle never attacked anyone" to disminish blame ...people know when their dogs are aggressive or have shown aggression.

When it's a xl bully or suspected, it's headline news, several fear mongering threads to encourage harassment against good owners...

that poor sausage dog which was thrown around by a German shepard type, sure none of you made a thread on that Or even heard of it? Have a Google caught on cctv.

Please don't ever own an animal with that attitude.
Yuk embarrassing

elledee412 · 05/02/2024 17:03

This is unhinged. You’d have all Golden Retrivers, Labs, Shepherds, Setters, most Spaniels, and almost every other family dog put to sleep? All of those breeds - and plenty more perfectly safe breeds - are bigger than a toddler.

Anyone who agrees with banning breeds is unhinged don't you understand that?

It DOES NOT WORK attacks happen
It's backyard breeders/unlicensed dogs which are the issue and shitty owners who laugh when their dog chases a cat/fox/squirrel

SomeCatFromJapan · 05/02/2024 21:57

What's "yuk, embarrassing" is the straw-clutching excuses for yet another death courtesy of these things. It's apparently never the fault of the dog, something always provoked them. Apparently they're easily provoked seeing as other breeds manage not to fly off the handle and kill whatever person is in front of them on a regular basis.

I agree that in an ideal world they would all be euthanised. Aside from the human deaths it will save many other dogs a horrible death or severe injury.

Ravensky · 05/02/2024 22:10

I think we can guess what type of dog don'tkillspiders owns, not that they'd admit it 😂

Sturnidae · 05/02/2024 22:15

Re those commenting on the people around hearing screaming and doing nowt: you've clearly never been to Jaywick. If you have any sense, you keep yourself to yourself and hope for the best. People living there don't trust the police at all. There has been outreach work done over the years, but Jaywick residents are let down time and time again by everybody in any semblance of power.

Emotionalsupportviper · 05/02/2024 22:19

oakleaffy · 05/02/2024 21:33

Yup.
One of these galumphed away from it's owner towards me and my dog and another I was walking for a friend {for free}.
I got my two on leads and got behind a gate, the XL's owner was screaming at it.

It crashed through the side of the gate and didn't know which of my two dogs to go for first {Probably this saved them}
They were terrified, pulling back hard on their leads to get away...so I released them.

My dog stayed close, the XL owner was worse than useless.

It had mine cornered in an angle of the field..

I grabbed at it's collar and it dragged me onto my coccyx immediately.. I got up and it was still trying to get my dog who was mercifully more agile, then the mutt lunged.. it's head was massive, as wide as my dog was long.

I grabbed the brute's collar with both hands and did not let go.

It dragged me down a flight of steps cut into the hillside, and I was bumping around on it's back, nose inches from it's murky body.

Then it stopped running...I think my weight {9.5 stones} cut it's airway a little dragging on the collar.

The owner appeared afraid of the dog.

I would not let go til owner had it on a lead.

This was before the lethal attacks on humans..

However, my little dog was unharmed.

The damage to my tendons and back I'm still dealing with. {Hospital treatment}

I was lucky it was ''Just'' dog aggressive, not {at that time} human aggressive.

The Dog warden collected my friend's dog who had bolted in terror.

A kindly street sweeper had caught the dog {I'd reported her missing at once}

My body was bruised all over.

Dog warden said had I not released the dogs, they'd have been likely not here now.

I'm used to horses...and I assure you, a Shire is easier to handle, as is a TB colt.

The low centre of gravity and sheer muscle mass of these XL's makes them ''Unstoppable''

The nightmares and fear I have had since {fear of my little dog being hurt} have really been bad.

Goodness knows the terror those attacked must have felt.

They are NOT pets.

Dog warden didn't charge me for return of friend's dog.. he was very understanding and kind.
He dropped her off at our house, which spared the kennelling fee.

Friend had years ago her children attacked by an *** Bull Terrier {redacted for confidentiality} that overturned the baby buggy, so she was very traumatised all over again.

{That dog was owned by a previously ''banned'' person {dog fighting}}

That;s horrendous!

You had more courage than I think I would, grabbing the collar (at least it had a collar - many don't). It could have turned on you in a heartbeat.

Dutch1e · 05/02/2024 22:45

oakleaffy · 05/02/2024 20:34

Do they?
The owner of this one imported him.

There aren't very many Dobes around these days, compared to the 1990's - but they are an active breed.

To give up on ones so young speaks volumes about the owners and how they clearly haven't researched the breed before buying one or their suitability to care for such a dog.
They are an athletic dog that need mental and physical 'work'.

''Ooh...he's getting strong and destructive and challenging!'' {Surprised Picachu face} let's take him to the Dog's Home..

Too many people get dogs that aren't capable of caring for properly in terms of exercise and training.

I couldn't agree more.

The only 'rough' breed I've ever known was a Rottweiler owned by a friend of mine. She is so dedicated to the well-being and careful training of her dogs that I once saw her dog twist in mid-air and drop like a stone when leaping to catch a ball, simply because my friend said "Down."

And the only time she (the dog, a female) showed any aggression around children was when she nipped the back of a toddler's coat to pull them away from a high open window.

The thousands of hours it took to achieve that kind of relationship (on top of the 5 years it took to feel comfortable with the right breeder before buying the puppy) was a huge eye-opener for me on how much work it really takes to be a good dog owner.

I'll never have that kind of dedication so I will never own any breed of dog. The standard should always be that high.

GaroTheMushroom · 05/02/2024 09:52

They will, it’s all over my local Facebook page people defending them and it being the owner not the breed and “little dogs are just as bad and bite just as much” maybe but I know which one I would rather take the chance with.

Yup. Got bitten by a Parson's Jack Russell, (twice) which is why I'm now scared of dogs. Bloody hurt like hell, but there was no lasting injury except a small scar on my hand. Big dogs however terrify me.

Saying that I saw someone walking what I think was an XL bully the other day. It was muzzled and on a lead. The owners could see I was scared and kept their dog away from me. Wish more owners were like that! Unlike the woman who let her dog jump up at me a few weeks prior.

Bishopsgirl · 05/02/2024 23:46

@oakleaffy You are a hero saving those two dogs like that. I like to think I would have been the same if my (late) lab had ever been in this position. I loved him so very much I would have fought to the death for him. I was only once in a similar position, two guard dogs (Alsations/German Shepherds?) escaped from a local builders back yard, just as I was walking past with my young son and my lab. They blocked our way and I could see they were ready to attack, probably waiting for my dog to look at them the wrong way or something! I put myself in front of my son and dog and started to slip my foot out of my trainer as it was the only "weapon" I could think of to use. I intended to whack them on the nose if they'd attacked, it probably wouldn't have stopped them but it was all I could think of. I've never felt so scared in my life. Suddenly, there was a high pitched whistle and they turned, like robots, and ran back to the builders house. They were obviously extremely well trained to react like that but I dread to think what would have happened if the builder hadn't called them back.

For a start what is a dad in the dog world. Also she didn't hit a box full of whelps. She tried to break up a fight between 5 month old pits the size of Labradors. What did you expect her to do? Gently manoeuvre them with her bare hands? Or rip one another to shreds? Second option would have been the best

Interview with Ashley Warren. He says he didn't know bully dogs were aggressive and now wants the entire breed 'wiped out'.

He now wants the 'Type' wiped out... But he was happy to believe that everyone saying they were vicious were lying, in the face of terrible tragedies.

These dogs are indeed monsters.

There will be more human deaths at the maws of these beasts.

The father in the video is now like the others who have lost a loved one who turn against this Type of fighting mutt.

This is another tragedy waiting to happen 9 XL bullies in a house with young children.

Troll banned

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 06/02/2024 07:08

I actually think they’ve gone the wrong way with banning breeds too! I was working for a month as a temp PA to the Spads in Defra (I don’t mention this here generally as not relevant really) when the banning dogs issue came up. Basically the banning dogs is agreed because there’s not the time, energy etc to look into other more costly interventions and legislation which need to happen and which takes time. And they’re worried about the general election. Therese Coffey who resigned just after I left (but this was expected) was nice and well meaning but with a tough job generally on her hands:

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 06/02/2024 07:15

Adding to the dog aggression stories. My family had an Afghan hound and Labrador when I was a child and a teenager. In the wider family were mostly German shepherds (long haired) Doberman (both probably guard and family dogs as the families lived in London) and smaller breeds, sort of toy dogs.

With my Labrador as a teenager there used to be an aggressive man walking a Rottweiler who did attack the Labrador once or twice. My parents as I recall tried to speak to the man and might’ve threatened police but in the end we just avoided him. The Rottweiler was probably lovely just with the wrong owner. Locally, I think before covid a woman’s dog was savaged and killed by a much larger dog, can’t recall if it was an aggressive type or not. So many people though have dogs and don’t bother to find out much about them, want them as status symbols or toys. This needs to change.

Emotionalsupportviper · 05/02/2024 20:00

Absolutely agree!

We've had four and they are the sweetest natured dogs you could imagine.

However after the last we decided not to get another because of the reaction of other people to them. Plus, if you are a staffie owner and there is a fight, it is automatically your dog which is the "aggressor" even if the other dog attacked yours and is larger and stronger. We got pig sick of people saying "Those dogs want putting down!" without any cause or provocation.

Weird that, type in "Staffordshire terrier attacks people" and up comes a whole list of recent attacks by these dogs inc on children.

Did same with German Short haired Pointer and guess what? none.

As i said, look what they were breed for and they still have pretty much the same physical characteristics as ones breed 200 years ago.

Plus they have been used for dog fighting up to the present day, wonder why.

Yes, my first thought was that he wants to avoid jail.

oakleaffy · 06/02/2024 07:46

''He’s trying to avoid going to prison and thinks speaking out in favour of the law is his best hope.''

That was my feeling too, hearing him blathering on.
He seemed more intent on what people

''Thought of him''
Than of an innocent woman slaughtered by his Pit-beasts.

Such turn-coatery

''We was waiting til they was older to get them exempted and neutered''

Sure you were, buddy.

So say the female dog getting pregnant was a ''Mistake''.

Responsible owners don't keep an entire male and female together..cuz, you know, biology...

Responsible owners also get a dog that has been mated a ''Morning after ''injection to stop pregnancy - or do a spay abort.

But he wanted to make money from these beasts- wonder where the 'Puppies' are now.
