AIBU to find lasagna massively overrated.

Ready meal lasagna is point blank rank.
Using jars of sauce makes an alright lasagna but nothing to hype about.
Making it from scratch is by far the tastiest option, but it is just so much effort to make a tomato based sauce while simultaneously making a cheese sauce and then layering to then have to wait for it to cook in the oven!
I’ve never actually had lasagna from a restaurant as it could be very nice but there’s always something that I fancy more.

What is everyone else’s unpopular food opinions?

What, ever? What do you do with them then?

Cauliflower cheese has absolutely no business on a roast.

Cheese also has no place on or near baked beans.

Outside of these specific scenarios cheese is always welcome.

Meat is boring, vegetables are much more interesting flavours.

Totally with you on beer @BarelyLiterate but I never thought of that as a particularly unpopular opinion!

Any dish can be improved by adding cheese or chocolate.

I agree with you on the lasagna. But it is tasty when it's done from scratch. Sometimes my friends cook it from scratch for a week day dinner after work (in a school) and I think "how do you have the time??"

Mine are how were milk and eggs ever considered to be suitable food. Both are gross for human consumption when you think about what they are.

Pineapple on pizza is definitely the one.

Chips are overrated

Curry is disgusting. Burns the mouth and makes the house stink.

Mint chocolate ice cream is revolting. It’s basically tooth paste ice cream.
Chocolate orange is revolting.
Only savoury toppings should go on toast. Jam or Nutella etc on toast is just disturbing.

@duh my choux pastry isn't soggy, it's light and crispy.

Sausage rolls - dry or greasy and full of fatty sausage meat, usually not even good sausage meat.

Fish and chips. Greasy and usually quite tasteless.

@ImNotARegularMumImACoolMum you're doing lasagne all wrong. First you make a massive vat of bol and have bolognaise and then a day or two later you make a massive vat of bechamel.

Layer into three lasagne dishes, one in the oven; two in the freezer.

It is a waste of time to make one lasagne, I quite agree.

We call this chunky chicken serve with savoury rice and peas and buttered white bread. It's caravan food

Brioche buns have no business being part of a burger.

Salted caramel is revolting.

As are those Lotus Biscoffi things or whatever they are called.

Cucumber is grim.

My unpopular opinion is cinnamon and apple taste awful together. I like them separately (hot suagary cinnamon doughnuts are yum for instance), but cinnamon popping up in every apple pie, apple crumble etc just ruins it.

Pesto is vile, and makes everything taste like swamp.

Mushrooms are beautiful.

Regardless of the whole tomato sauce/ ragu, Béchamel/ cheese sauce debate, it doesn’t change my point that it is a massive faff to make from scratch!!!

Just to confirm, I don’t actually dislike lasagna, I just feel it is overrated and can’t stand the process of making it.

I agree about Nutella.

Peanut Butter?
Marmalade?

Bananas make me heave.
Sourdough bread is overrated.
Brioche needs to make it's mind up if it's bread or cake
Goats cheese tastes like goats smell.

Pizza is a waste of a meal - boring and unsatisfying.

Sushi....come on no one really likes it they just pretend.

The only pizza worth eating is a Dominos.

Prawns make me heave. Prawn cocktail especially. Dead invertebrates floating around in whatever that muck is ... 🤮
