AIBU to find lasagna massively overrated.

Ready meal lasagna is point blank rank.
Using jars of sauce makes an alright lasagna but nothing to hype about.
Making it from scratch is by far the tastiest option, but it is just so much effort to make a tomato based sauce while simultaneously making a cheese sauce and then layering to then have to wait for it to cook in the oven!
I’ve never actually had lasagna from a restaurant as it could be very nice but there’s always something that I fancy more.

What is everyone else’s unpopular food opinions?

Baked beans are disgusting and should be banned.

This!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ditto mashed potato.
99 percent of chocolate is revolting.

Peas smell horrible!

Spam sandwiches are divine. (I actually use off brand spam)

Absolute sacrilege! Almost as weird as people who don't like chocolate!

Turkey is awful, dry tasteless stuff. I have never had one at Christmas, or any other time, and I never will. Sod ‘tradition’.

🍺 is much better than 🍷. It’s tastier, it has more variation in styles & types, good stuff doesn’t cost a fortune and you can drink more of it.

Instant coffee is undrinkable muck. All of it. Even the heavily marketed ‘posh’ stuff.

Choux pastry is disgusting- why do people want to eat soggy pastry!

Home made stock is crap. It tastes like greasy water.
Homemade pasta sauce us overrated. I'd take a decent shop bought over both.

Cheese and eggs, in all forms, are horrible as food.

They only work when combined with other ingredients to make something better.

Also this béchamel sauce makes lasagne absolutely amazing - Restaurant quality. It's £2 and the only place I've found it is M&S.

Celery should be banned.

Pate on pizza is awesome (I once queued the acceptability of putting pate on pizza with an Italian relative when I had no cured meat and he said it was fine so there 😜)

Posh burgers and chips in restaurants.

They always fall apart into a sloppy mess and the chips are always too chunky and dry. You can't beat fishnchip shop chips, ever.

Chopped up chicken livers in the lasagne ragu is a must (Delia)

Add nutmeg, NOT cheese to the bechamel sauce!

Cream added to savoury dishes = delicious

Cream added to sweet dishes = over rich and over indulgent

Olives are over-rated (and rank!)

Don't get me started on the devil's own herb....coriander....vom 🤢🤮 it is abhorrent and a disgrace to all herbs. Parsley is equally as horrible too.

Cheese and butter are delicious. Melted cheese and melted butter smell like sick.

A message to my foody husband -

Guanciale is predominantly fat and revolting.

Caramel is better than salted caramel.
Kombucha and kale are a con and noone really likes them.
Plain steamed veggies are a nice addition to any meal.

Champagne is not a pleasant drink.

I like lasagna but all that layering is a waste of time - meat sauce and pasta with the bechamel chucked on top tastes just he same!

I really hate truffle

Choux pastry is crisp. If what you’re eating is soggy, it has probably been frozen and defrosted.

Maltesers are boring AF and vastly overrated.

I like absolutely everything on this thread apart from the tinned chicken and haggis

Salted caramel is vile 🤮 Take me back to the days when you could only get normal caramel. Don't even get a choice in most places now, it's salted caramel or nothing 😡

Vegan meals are usually disappointing. It takes extra time, effort and skill to make a palatable vegan meal.

I will eat everything, but I won’t have celery grace my lips.
