AIBU to find lasagna massively overrated.

Ready meal lasagna is point blank rank.
Using jars of sauce makes an alright lasagna but nothing to hype about.
Making it from scratch is by far the tastiest option, but it is just so much effort to make a tomato based sauce while simultaneously making a cheese sauce and then layering to then have to wait for it to cook in the oven!
I’ve never actually had lasagna from a restaurant as it could be very nice but there’s always something that I fancy more.

What is everyone else’s unpopular food opinions?

Pickles and chutneys are revolting.

Peanut butter smells so abhorrent it makes me heave at 10 paces. I have never been able to bring myself to taste it, even the thought of it makes me retch.

Avocados, olives, mushrooms, artichokes and nuts are all horrible.

Also sriracha is vastly overrated and tastes chemical and synthetic. Much better tasting and authentic hot sauces out there.

Honey … awful

Sausage, chips, peas, ketchup?

Never had those together or seen them together. Definitely wouldn’t put them together myself.

Chicken should be a lot more expensive than it is. It shouldn't be the default option for 90% of supermarket and takeaway sandwiches. All the fried chicken shops should be shut down.

Respect the chicken! Eat less, buy better, cook more!

I hate cheese.
I don't like any cold food, including sandwiches.

Salad cream is way too sweet.

Ginger is good in savoury dishes but gingernuts and ginger cake are horrible.
Cinnamon is good in savoury dishes but will ruin an apple pie.
Nutmeg makes everything taste like cheap sausagemeat.

I'll eat literally anything and enjoy it. I am really struggling to think of something I find revolting! This will keep me awake tonight!!

OK... there are unpopular views. and there are ILLEGAL views.

Pepper on anything ruins the flavour and just makes it hot. Heat =/= flavour.

Mayonnaise is foul, sweet flavours don't belong with savoury.

Salad cream is nice. Mayonnaise is disgusting.

Pepper on almost everything really enhances flavour.

I made a cheese soufflé for dinner last night and had a slight accident while adding cayenne to the sauce. Managed to scrape some of it out, but still a lot more remained than I usually put in. And it was delicious.

Beetroot tastes like worm. This is not a good thing.

Majority of condiments are gross: mayonnaise, salad cream, ketchup, brown sauce.

Beg to differ. Costa's ginger muffins are divine.

Bacon smells like pigs. Gone right off it.

As for the food I like, I have always enjoyed school dinners and hospital food. Love stodgy macaroni cheese and lukewarm apple crumble and custard (ideally with the skin on).

A home-made fatball makes for a tasty late evening snack.

I wish I hadn't read this. I used to like beetroot but this has put me right off.

Hummus is vile.
BBQ sauce should not be used apart from on food going on the bbq where it will be burnt off.
Ketchup is the devil's work

Nutella has a horrendous aftertaste. I can only describe it as artificial. I’ve had chocolate and hazelnut together and it does not taste like Nutella.

Lasagne is really easy to make and tastes best with cheese sauce not bechamel.

Salt improves caramel. It's just claggy without salt.

You can't shove a load of random stuff (lentils, mushrooms, baked beans, sweetcorn etc) in a cottage pie, chilli con carne or bolognaise and still call it cottage pie or bolognaise.

Finally, someone with sense! Watching people eat ketchup makes me gag 🤢
