Thankfully it's not up to you.

I actually don’t follow either of them but saw this thread and looked up his social media.

He has explained the name choice and it makes sense to me… from your post I thought he’d named the child the same name as the daughter who passed… but he hasn’t.
All his family have names which start with A, and diamond and cain are his family names.

looks like too many people are reading into this.

Thanks for clarifying

They are pretty different names

So you know her well enough that she needs you to be raging on her behalf. How do you know he didn't discuss it with her in advance. Maybe she's perfectly happy with it

I thought from the OP that he'd given the baby the same first name. So he's used his daughters middle name for the new baby's middle name - personally I don't see anything wrong with it. She was his daughter too

No I don't know her atall hence the reason my post said AIBU to be raging for a stranger.

The baby's name with his new girlfriend is the same name as his baby who died, that he had with a different woman.
That just goes to show how silly his new girlfriend is, because you would not do it would you, how disrespectful and immature

No it isn’t.

They’re nothing alike. You’re being absurd.

Clutterbugsmum · 19/01/2024 06:23

You are being Unreasonable.

They are two different names who happen to start the same letter, and lots of family have the same middle name which is given to all the children.

Passingthethyme · 19/01/2024 06:25

LiquidGold315 · 19/01/2024 05:25

Calm down OP. It's not the same name.
Both have names starting with 'A' as does he. Yes, the middle name is the same but he's explained it's a family name and a sweet tribute to the daughter he lost.

Omg. If this is all it is, get a grip OP. Drama over nothing! It's just a letter, and I agree a sweet tribute

ElevenSeven · 19/01/2024 06:26

Aliyas
Azaylia

Totally different names IMO

So your 'rage' might be completely unfounded. Who knows maybe she sees it as him honouring their daughter & is perfectly happy that he's done it

romdowa · 19/01/2024 06:29

Ginger89 · 19/01/2024 05:57

the story wouldn't be different if it was the other way round I'd be just as shocked. not disputing her passing hurt him I couldn't even begin to imagine loosing my child but to go on and father another child with a different woman then use a very simelar name as his daughter with saf doesn't sit right, as if she wasnt hurting enough!

But he's hurting too. Grief hits people differently. The first names are also totally different just begin with a. You're being ridiculous quite frankly

OldBeyondMyYears · 19/01/2024 06:32

You are being ridiculous.

Spencer0220 · 19/01/2024 06:32

RowanMayfair · 19/01/2024 05:30

What? It's the middle name only not the first name? Don't be ridiculous, this is a very normal thing for people to do. I know two people who sadly lost older children and gave their names to subsequent children as middle names. I know another family who named their second child a very similar first name to their first who died. He's not done anything wrong that I can see.

This.

Two of my nephews share the same middle name out of respect for an uncle who died. One shares name of a grandfather and one another great relative further back.

It's tradition in BIL's family to reuse the the same few middle names. Therefore I don't question.

My niece breaks the trend. My sister insisted our mother's name was used.

cuckyplunt · 19/01/2024 06:36

You know nothing about anything to do with this, what a stupid thread!

HollyKnight · 19/01/2024 06:39

I had to go Google to see wtf this is about. You are being ridiculous. The first names are not a bit similar! Unless it was reverse then you could maybe argue there is a similarity.

Aliyas
Ailyaza

But it's still not.

Queijo · 19/01/2024 06:40

I see the mumsnet nasties are out in full force. Don’t you ever have a day off?

If someone basically named their new baby after my dead child I would 100% find that very fucking odd. Anyone saying otherwise (the name is not similar??? Are you hard of reading??) with the very annoying faux ignorance must have absolutely zero empathy.

catelynjane · 19/01/2024 06:40

Those two names are absolutely nothing alike.

SuperDopper · 19/01/2024 06:40

What are you on? They do not have the same name.

They do, however, have the same middle name, which is completely normal.

seafronty · 19/01/2024 06:42

My next aibu. "Who the fuck are any of these people?"

Explain how it is similar? Other than both starting with an A.

His daughter was called Azaylia.

His son is called Aliyas.

Do explain how they have the same name? They do not even sound similar, save for starting with A.

There is one letter difference in the entire name? How can you not see how it is similar?

catelynjane · 19/01/2024 06:48

The similarity ends there - they don't sound anything like each other and even written down they look different.

My thoughts exactly.

Plus, OP - they are very minor Z list celebs and being ‘raging’ on their behalf is… well… unusual.
