The abdominal surgery must have been pretty huge to expect a fortnight stay in hospital. I had a total gastrectomy and total vagotomy and only stayed ten days.

Part of me hopes she's having something fun, like a boob lift or a BBL.

gluggle · 18/01/2024 16:24

If like been suggested in the past she is bulimic, maybe some serious stomach problems have arisen.

Maybe that's the difference between private and NHS or royal treatment and the rest of us. Maybe they just get a little extra time and tlc?

But I think most people want to relax at home - and she must have a few to choose from.

AgathaX · 18/01/2024 16:29

She has clearly had a tummy tuck after her third and final child. Left long enough to not seem as sus. I can't believe no one seems to have figured that out

Thank goodness we've got you here to enlighten us all.

I think the poster was being ironic.

Perhaps you’re being ironic too (are you?)…

I think I’m losing the will to live.

They don't remove 'everything' for an ovarian cyst. My late mother had an ovary removed and then thirty years later had a hysterectomy.

No matter how much privilege there is in that family, the kids are still going to be anxious and fretting. I hope that all goes well.

A tummy tuck!? Doubt it. She’s amazingly slim and athletically built, doubt she has much tummy to tuck!

If she wears shape wear, how would we know how much of a tummy she has?

MrsSkylerWhite · 18/01/2024 16:31

People are chucked out too soon from NHS hospitals because their beds are desperately needed.
Rich folk in private facilities, not so much.

Wish her well.

AInightingale · 18/01/2024 16:32

She may just have an underlying health condition that makes recovery from an operation trickier. Private care - the future queen is in no danger of being turfed out of a hospital bed to free it up.

avocadotoaststoppedmebuyingahouse · 18/01/2024 16:33

When I saw this trending again today I thought she must have died!

I find it difficult not to speculate about that. Having suffered myself in the distant past, when I was very young, I hope this is not the case because as the illness progresses it is an absolute nightmare. On the surface no one would guess how ill you are because you put a smile on your face and are generally very agreeable. In my case even people I lived with had no idea until it got really out of hand and I told them. It is a serious mental illness that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

PuffinJilly · 18/01/2024 16:43

I don't know or care what's wrong with her, but of course she's going to spend a while in hospital, she's the mother of the future heirs and a future queen. The doctors aren't going to take the route of hoofing her out with a dressing change and an appointment with the district nurse.
If she was a mere mortal like the rest of us, she wouldn't have even had an operation, mainly because she'd still be on the phone at 8 every morning desperately trying to get a GP appointment just to get a referral to a specialist.

Don't really need to know HRH's prostate either

He isn't HRH any longer,

He's the King so he's HM.

How long her MIL was in for is not at all relevant.

It's very relevant for Royal Top Trumps!

Catherine beats Camilla.

How long was Sophie in for? Eugenie?

Who will win? 😱

But I think most people want to relax at home - and she must have a few to choose from.

She left hospital within hours of having Louis and Charlotte, and the next day after George. It's not like she's going home to a crowded council flat. She can have round the clock care at home if she wishes, so would only need to stay in hospital for specific procedures.

I think it was a mistake for KP to release any sort of timeline for Kate's hospital stay. The public doesn't really need to know, and it's just leading to the sort of speculation we've seen here and elsewhere.

No matter how much privilege there is in that family, the kids are still going to be anxious and fretting. I hope that all goes well.

I just want to point out that there are lots of different types of ovarian cysts and they come in different sizes.

Some people can have theirs monitored, some removed by laproscopy, but some will need a laparotomy which is a much bigger incision due to the size of the cyst.

Some people will lose an ovary, and some may have to have both ovaries, tubes and womb removed due to the cyst having worring features, which means there's a high risk of reoccurrence or cancer.

So just because your Aunty Mabel had hers removed in 1 hour and was home in time for Corrie and a nice fish supper, doesn't mean everyone who has an ovarian cyst will have the same treatment.

Like I said upthread with mine I was in hospital for 5 nights and was signed off work for 12 weeks. I lost an ovary, and the only reason they didn't remove my other one and my womb is because I wanted children. I had to be closely monitored for several years afterwards. Mine was a borderline ovarian cyst, which means there it was not cancer but not completely benign either.

Then there would be speculation every single day as to whether she was coming out today or tomorrow! Followed by further speculation that a simple appendectomy/hernia whatever had gone wrong.

3luckystars · 18/01/2024 16:57

I hope that hospital has an underground carpark so she can get out without anyone noticing. As if she hasn’t enough to be dealing with. I hope she will be ok.

Back in the 80s, it was normal to spend 2 weeks in NHS hospitals following caesarean section or hysterectomy, for example. The private sector hasn’t had to make swingeing cuts like the NHS has, hence…

Back in the 80s lots of people died from blood clots after surgery because we didn’t realise that prolonged immobility can be harmful! It’s now proven that mobilising people sooner after surgery is better for recovery.

Notmetoo · 18/01/2024 16:59

She is in a private hospital. Stays are likely to be longer

I guess so. But given that nobody knew when she entered the hospital, would anyone know when she leaves? I'm sure there is a private back door that could be used, although now that the media is onto it I guess they would have their eyes peeled for any convoys with flashing lights.
