The abdominal surgery must have been pretty huge to expect a fortnight stay in hospital. I had a total gastrectomy and total vagotomy and only stayed ten days.

Don’t be ridiculous, they don’t “whip everything out” for an ovarian cyst 😂 Cystectomy is done laparoscopically, removing just the cyst, and you can go home the next day usually.

Well a friend had one, admittedly a few years back now and had the whole lot out.

caringcarer · 17/01/2024 18:07

I sincerely hope she makes a full recovery and is not in too much pain. I hope the newspapers leave her and her family alone.

My sister and a friend have both had an ovarian cyst removed. The surgeons were very careful to try to preserve as much as possible in case they wanted to have children.

poorbuthappy · 17/01/2024 18:10

All depends on size of cyst to be fair.

bookworm14 · 17/01/2024 18:10

Plenty of abdominal surgeries require a hospital stay of more than 10 days (e.g. Crohn’s/colitis surgery). I don’t know why everyone is so incredulous.

KimberleyClark · 17/01/2024 17:30

Perhaps she’s had an ovarian cyst. The treatment for those is usually to whip the whole lot out. I wish her a speedy recovery.

I had an ovarian cyst and an ovary removed. I went home later that day. Private, so they weren't rushing me out. I doubt it's just an ovarian cyst.

Sk8erboi · 17/01/2024 18:19

A statement from the palace said the princess "appreciates the interest this statement will generate" and stressed she wants her personal medical information to remain private.

Oh stop it! Leave her alone, she doesn't
need your speculation!

And yet here you are..

BashfulClam · 17/01/2024 18:27

She is The Princess of Wales and they will take no chances. They will keep her there to make sure she is healing etc before even thinking of letting her home.

Depends how big the cyst is - mine had destroyed the ovary.

Ponderingwindow · 17/01/2024 18:34

Omg, you do not need a hysterectomy for an ovarian cyst. I’ve had several, some even ruptured. The doctors managed to treat me in a way that preserved not just my fertility, but the natural hormones and organ function that the female body needs for optimal health. A hysterectomy and/or oophorectomy can be a life changing surgery for a woman who needs such an aggressive procedure, but it’s not one to be taken lightly,

Pochacco · 17/01/2024 18:36

I had an ovarian cyst removed and was in foe 5 nights. No key hole surgery for me, I have a vertical scar several inches. But mine was 30cm diameter.

For some ovarian cysts they may remove your ovaries and womb, if they look suspicious or borderline, especially if you've already completed your family.

It says up to 14 days, gives the woman some time to recover without being hounded by the press. She may leave after 48 hours or whatever. Her health isn't a public issue.

Don't reallly need to know HRH's prostate either

Well they aren't going to send her straight home like they would Joe bloggs are they, what ever it is she's had done

BitchBrigade · 18/01/2024 13:43

She has clearly had a tummy tuck after her third and final child. Left long enough to not seem as sus. I can't believe no one seems to have figured that out.

10 days post surgery is a moot point. Of course a member of the royal family with have the best treatment and 10 days off after major surgery. She isn't a pled like the rest of us women whos pain docs refuse to treat for decades before taking us seriously, nevermind free plastic surgery and a 10 day luxury stay

RomeoMcFlourish · 18/01/2024 13:49

A tummy tuck!? Doubt it. She’s amazingly slim and athletically built, doubt she has much tummy to tuck!

how is it "clearly" i mean you have no idea however much you think or say it.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 18/01/2024 14:33

Whatever it is I'm sure she wouldn't want to stay longer than necessary.

I don't understand all the frothing about it.

My friend was in a lot of pain from her cyst, plus she was nearly 50 anyway.

LaTricoteuseVieux · 18/01/2024 14:41

A tummy tuck?

There's speculation. Then there's stupidity.

Where exactly is this tummy that needs tucking?

LaTricoteuseVieux · 18/01/2024 14:44

Lampzade · 17/01/2024 16:15

Hysterectomy??

No one's in for ten days to a fortnight for a hysterectomy. The Queen was out in 4 days after one, then recuperated at home.

I think it was left at balmoral but she went and got it.....

I agree stupidity!
