The abdominal surgery must have been pretty huge to expect a fortnight stay in hospital. I had a total gastrectomy and total vagotomy and only stayed ten days.

What happened to all those parroting the BM's H & M must show us photos of their children cos they're tax payers funded and went over her RF leaked medical records? Double standards stink!

Am I the only one who's getting the unpleasant feeling on this, and the Royal Family thread, that some posters are desperately hoping it's nothing as unalarming as a hysterectomy? Of course it may not be a hysterectomy, but so many posters rushing on to poo poo the idea, insisting that anyone they know has been driving a tractor the day after having a hysterectomy, no way would you be in hospital for more than 1 hour after a hysterectomy, up to 14 days is definitely something serious because my Uncle Clive was only in for 2 days after a heart transplant etc etc etc. It's almost as if they'd be disappointed that this much loved daughter, mother , wife and sister isn't at death's door.

I don’t see people on here hoping it is something serious, but I do see people whose instincts are telling them that something more is going on. We are so conditioned to pay attention to them and to think of ourselves as being part of their family - to some extent (remember the late Queen was thought of as everyone’s grandmother). They can’t just suddenly decide that now we are not supposed to care. Of course we want to know what’s going on.

Actually, it is walnut shaped and sits on either side of the urethra. When one or both sides enlarge, the urethra is narrowed, making peeing difficult.
It is not ball shaped

Still a ball. When I examine a patient I'm not looking for a walnut

There was a young woman called dragon

when they said “not my king”
she started to sing*
And drank cool aid out of a flagon

*probably the royal anthem.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The not my King people are twats. As if their opinion is they only one that matters and the rest of us are morons for not agreeing with them.

They always know stuff all about world history and say ridiculous things like ‘we’d turn Buckingham Palace into a shelter for the homeless’ and other such pie in the sky guff that would never happen in a million years. If we abolished the monarchy it would be seconds before Buckingham Palace was sold and had been turned into a Starbucks and the profits had been passed on to Michelle Mone (or her like) for a pointless government contract. They idea that anyone on the street would see a penny is over idealistic student politics.

Never heard anyone say that tbh. I’ve heard lots of perfectly legitimate criticisms of how bloated, lazy and shady our royal family is compared to other European royals. Time to modernise and get off the gravy train if they want to survive going forward. Younger people don’t worship them.

Well, he is my King. I'm a subject and have no choice in the matter. I'd rather not be

You'll then be relieved to hear that Britons have not been 'subjects' for over 40 years now.

I did not know that! Middle aged British woman here. Did not know that had changed - thank you 🙏 🇬🇧

Hilarious 🤣. This thread is a scream. I had. a TAH, BSO, Omentectomy & cervix out 6 years ago. Hospital policy was discharge after 5 days then 3 months recovery

BestBadger · 18/01/2024 21:16

Well, he is my King. I'm a subject and have no choice in the matter. I'd rather not be and we'd clearly be much better off as a society if we didn't spend so much money maintaining the inequality, of which the Monarchy is part of.

We'd be healthier, better educated, have less crime etc. It also costs us £128 billion to maintain the inequality, that's without including the billions of pounds worth of assets held by our Royals.

If you can't see that going from one of the most equal of the world's richest countries to the second most unequal in 50 years and doubling child poverty in 40 years is dangerously unsustainable. Then you're the foolish one.

An unelected billionaire head of state for a crumbling increasingly unequal society, administered by a corrupt, authoritarian & incompetent government isn't going to last forever. You don't need to have studied history or politics to realise that.

Tell The Great British People to stop voting Tory. Would definitely help

MoneyMoneyMoneyy · 20/01/2024 07:29

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 18/01/2024 21:59

This exactly the kind of sound bite style shite I was talking about. There is no depth to this argument. Did the monarchy cause poverty? Or was is a combination of venal government and greedy corporations?

The reality of becoming a republic is not the magical sunlit upland you imagine it is. We’d still all be fucked. I can be certain that within five years all the assets would have mysteriously disappeared into government pockets (just like it did in the French Revolution) and we’d have won ourselves an extra bent politician as our head for state.

No thanks.

Thank you. I can’t even begin to describe how awful the first couple of weeks in HDU were. I had it for chronic pancreatitis so it has brought me some relief, but I’ll always be on some kind of strong pain killers. But it’s meant I’ve been able to eat relatively normal again without horrific pain. I struggle saying then words it was worth it as I genuinely felt like I’d have happily died during those first 2 weeks (massive complications) but it was, my life is much better 5yrs on. I’ve got such a neat scar that you’d never know what’s gone on inside there. All caused by a stray gallstone damaging the pancreatic duct. Lesson there to anyone putting off getting a gallbladder removal, get it done as those little stones have changed my life. Thank you for your message, not many understand how brutal a whipple is. I sincerely hope the Princess hasn’t had anything like that done.

Oh bless you ❤️

At 42 Kate is not young, she’s approaching middle age!

In the medical world she is classed as young.

What an amazing bedside manner you must have.

willWillSmithsmith · 20/01/2024 19:32

Unless you’re someone who suffers from that mental illness where you want to be ill no one wants to spend weeks in a hospital, even private. They’re not like hotels you’re ill, you’re vulnerable, you’re prodded and poked and given sleeping tablets when you’re already asleep etc. The only thing that I liked was I was guaranteed my own room. I was even given a curled up, dry sandwich when I asked about food. Luckily it was a short in-patient visit and I would always rather be home than a hospital to recuperate, no matter how luxurious it was. I’d bet PC would rather be home too.

Idontpostmuch · 20/01/2024 19:33

@IncompleteSenten Yes, we get kicked out of hospital earlier than we ought to due to lack of resources. When we're discharged after 3 days, that often means that ideally we should have been in for a week. However private hospitals are businesses and they sell as much time in hospital as they feasibly can. Therefore, if they say 10 to 14 days, a week might be all that's really needed.

Idontpostmuch · 20/01/2024 19:40

@Boomer55 Interesting that you say apparently a hysterectomy. It's never been revealed, unless I've missed it, and it would be impossible to miss.

Sir Keir is not going to save you and neither is your war-mongering New Labour hero Tony Blair, who managed to destabilise the entire world due to his illegal wars!

This is not true. Private hospitals make the most from operations, not someone being in a bed. For profit you want to do as many operations as possible rather than people taking up precious bed space when it is not medically necessary.

Other than William the other day, it’s a bit weird no one has been in to see her (that the press have reported - they’re camped outside aren’t they?)

Maybe she’s not where they said she is 🤷🏻‍♀️
