The abdominal surgery must have been pretty huge to expect a fortnight stay in hospital. I had a total gastrectomy and total vagotomy and only stayed ten days.

People are chucked out too soon from NHS hospitals because their beds are desperately needed.
Rich folk in private facilities, not so much.

Wish her well.

I was in an nhs hospital for three weeks. One week to work out what was wrong with me then surgery then two weeks in hospital. Followed by three months off work

oh quite. My husband too. 10 days on AMU awaiting diagnosis. I was assuming though that this was planned surgery not requiring diagnosis. 3 weeks recovery is a long time in hospital.

She is in a private hospital. Stays are likely to be longer

Not at all. I’ve had significant gynae surgery twice privately (once at The London Clinic) and you’re out the next day if they can. Beds are at a premium, the surgeons want to move on to the next patient.

Don't really need to know HRH's prostate either

He isn't HRH any longer,

He's the King so he's HM.

Not my King.

IWroteTheOther51 · 18/01/2024 16:21

Part of me hopes she's having something fun, like a boob lift or a BBL.

No surgery is “fun” is it?

I’m thinking liver transplant

Goodness me. I am thinking that this is getting a bit much now. BP should not have said anything, unless they had to. Who would have noticed anyway.

@user1477255159 It is to do the role Charles did when he was Prince Of Wales. Charles was very active in overseeing the Duchy. William is not interested.

Well, apart from the money he gets from it.

Any chance you could enlighten us bots as to who these "sources" are?

Oh my goodness how many people have had a sense of humour bypass?!

Not my King.

Mine either!

Mumsnet is not a window on the world. That's reserved for (mostly) men who decide what we need to know and what we aren't told.

Speculation is inevitable where there is no relevant information given.

Oh heck, what could it be now? An overdose leading to stomach perforation, gynae, liver disease that led to abdominal issues, bowel, kidneys, spleen, pancreas, who knew there were so many organs in that region of the body.

So you see when we were told, we were told nothing. So speculation happens. It is quite normal and I have no issue with it. Blame the Royal PR machine or whoever drip feeds all the positives about them to us.

I suspect she was already home when the information was published.

Do let us know how yours goes.

Us plebs don’t need a personality. She’s the future queen. Diana would be disappointed.

Oh, I don't think @user1477255159 is joking, I really don't.

3luckystars · 18/01/2024 17:57

She should have just pretending she was going in for a visit and got caught up.

RosesAndHellebores · 18/01/2024 17:59

I hope she makes a full recovery. I imagine it's serious and that's why the King announced his enlarged prostate. As a deflection technique due to the seriousness.

What it highlights is that physical shit happens even if you are the future Queen.

Very much hoping all will be well.

RosesAndHellebores · 18/01/2024 18:00

I bet she giggled about the crab post. Bet that was Harry posting.

Betsyhilton · 18/01/2024 18:02

Sidebeforeself · 18/01/2024 15:16

Well I had seven legs removed and was only in for ten minutes so something must be really wrong with her. FFS ..how on earth is it relevant how long other people stayed in hospital for and, as far as we know, what could be wildly different procedures.

Kate - if you are reading this I hope it doesn’t hurst too much when you laugh at some of the stupid comments on here!

This.

It's the same on the Royal Family Forum. Everyone insisting that because their
Aunty Margaret was out digging the garden 10 minutes after her hysterectomy NO ONE could POSSIBLY need longer than that to recuperate.

LadyEloise1 · 18/01/2024 18:02

It's very strange that KP informed the world about POW's operation. Most of us wouldn't have noticed she was missing in action and presumed she was at home parenting.

TuxedoChimp · 18/01/2024 18:06

She's have surgery to complete her transformation into a full lizard 🦎

She is to be out of action for a while so lots of appointments including overseas trips have to be cancelled . I think people would have noticed.

And sooner or later, someone would have spotted William or another family member visiting her. And, even with confidentiality clauses in their contracts, people talk. It would be very hard to keep this secret for long.

How do you know that Diana would be disappointed? Diana would probably be happy that her son was happy. And for all we know Kate might be a hoot in private.

derxa · 18/01/2024 18:19

She's clearly had major surgery. Why anyone would make spiteful comments about that is beyond me.
