To wonder what happened to Janet and is she ok?

Trying to keep this concise and sort of lighthearted as it's weirding me out.

DH friend Dave was/is married to Janet. He met up with Dave for gigs etc as they have a shared music interest. Janet also went to gigs with them as did her best friend, Sally. I met Janet and Sally quite a few times and all very friendly.

Six months ago Dave and Janet suddenly split up due to his excessive drinking, apparently. He's now sober and came around last night, and introduced Sally as his girlfriend! We had a pleasant enough evening but I just wanted to ask 'where is Janet? Are you still friends with her Sally? Was this an affair? Does she know?

I know it's none of my business and DH doesn't know anything but it's like Janet never existed and that her and Sally were never bestfriends. Sally was talking away quite happily about their plans and future and they're moving in together, but no mention of Janet.

It's makes me want to shout JANET and see if she metaphorically appears.

She did exist as I met her!

Am I losing it? Is this weird? Should I ask?

Poor Janet. But she's better off without these pricks. With friends like Sally who needs enemies.

Don't worry about Janet, I'm sure she's just in her boundless void.

Very. But most of the men closest to me (friends, family, partner) would I am sure be asking about Janet to both the friend and more generally.

Janet is well out of it. Glad she's moved away. She'll no doubt have a much brighter future than Sally will have with Dave the raging alcoholic.

I would be so uncomfortable with the whole situation and I would try to reach out to Janet to see if she is doing ok.

So OP, your update is what you knew already, with some more detail. They split up because Dave is an alcoholic (which you knew); 6 months later he starts dating her friend Sally (crap but it was over with Dave & Janet & she's moved away).

It's all a bit rubbish for Janet but is a straightforward explanation - and sounds like she's made a very good decision & is fine.

It's a dick move, but did happen after the split & when she'd moved away! Not condoning it, it's crap, but it's not all that dramatic.
