DS being bullied for his coat! It’s not that weird is it?

DS turned 7 in dec and I brought him a new coat something different.He absolutely loved it and had lots of compliments from his friends at footie. But his school friends seem to pick up on everything and are so critical.

His school friends keep asking him why his coat is like that. It looks silly and it’s not a proper coat. He stopped wearing it for a little while and then wore it again on Friday and it’s the same stupid questions from them again.

He’s been odd all day today so withdrawn sitting in his room all day wouldn’t come to the park with me and his siblings. Refusing to get dresssed and sitting in his pyjamas and seems to get tearful really quickly.

I don’t know what to do!

@Calliopespa @Milange I'll have to give them another chance! It was adult tops and jumpers I tried (for myself), a while ago now. They may have improved, or just be better at certain items!
I'm making the most of the pre-school years where I choose most of their clothes, I know there's going to be a minefield of which clothes/brands are in, in years to come. Worrying, and very sad, that it can actually cause bullying though.

George is my favourite clothing range! I do buy from some good quality designer brands, but George is definitely my go-to for clothes. 😂

OP, I think it's a gorgeous coat.

But these 'friends' are being mean. If they are picking on your son and targeting his coat repeatedly then this is bullying.

Please contact the form teacher to explain. Make sure you use the word 'bullying' and explain who is doing it, how often and for how long. She should act immediately - hopefully she will speak to them individually (and also remind the whole class about being kind).

Tell DS to tell an adult if this happens again. And he can say to these boys 'stop being mean'.
