Breaking news; UK signing off on air strikes against Yemen. Is this just going to get worse ?

Since having kids this honestly petrifies me. This world is a mess! I feel like it's one thing since another ever since Covid nothing has felt the same at all! Life before that almost feels completely different and a blur ! Anyone else?

Why would that make it the worst atrocity? Russia has illegally invaded Ukraine, it's not like illegal invasions are unusual?

Newchapterbeckons · 12/01/2024 21:01

Labours track record on illegal invasions and taking the country to war can hardly be trusted- and this latest update on the victims of the post office is shameful. Blair knew about that too.
And Who is Starmers mentor? Non other than the esteemed war criminal Tony Blair - I don’t suppose that will be added to the campaign material thouggh

Tony Blair in 1999

Tony Blair was warned Horizon IT system could be flawed, documents show

The then-PM was told IT system now at the centre of the Post Office scandal was "possibly unreliable".

Oh I see. You just hate Blair.

Newchapterbeckons · 12/01/2024 21:02

i have no respect for Starmer either - weak willlyed leadership - puppets without morals.

Dymaxion · 12/01/2024 21:03

Do you have no recollection of the international task force of naval ships assembled to combat Somali pirates which has been in constant operation since 2009?

Were they on Insta ?

Just asking for a friend

How did you feel about Jeremy Corbyn when he was Labour leader?

I agree Labour have a woeful history of pathetic leaders.

@EasternStandard

"I understand what you’re saying though and the thought of entering inflationary spiral is incredibly depressing. I hope it can be avoided in some way."

++++
It is definitely depressing and despite thinking through various scenarios I can't see a solution other than a serious full on bad ass escalation with Iran - which aside from being a massively bad idea it would never be supported in the West.

Amusingly it will be the usual useful idiots complaining about rises in heating costs and blaming the energy suppliers rather than the fact that the LNG tanker from Qatar can no longer reach the UK.

There are two great big dots with a dotted line and a previous round of what it’s like and still people won’t connect them

Outrage at trying to stop this, outrage at impact of not stopping it ad infinitum

Newchapterbeckons · 13/01/2024 05:45

It seems to boil down to this.

We are at war.

As unpalatable as it is to stare at the bare face of the fact, we are at war with Russia and that includes Iran and its other allies. This is just another development. Hamas is sponsored and supported by Iran. Iran is an ally of Russia.

The situation in Israel was not an accident or a coincidence but another effort to destabilise and divide the west, diverting resources from Ukraine to Israel and serving to disrupt the progress made between Saudi Arabia and Israel to agree a peace treaty.

It doesn’t look or feel like a ‘normal’ ground war because it’s not, it is being waged by stealth.

The Cold War restarted the day Russia invaded Ukraine. The quicker we accept this fact, the better prepared we will be mentally when it escalates.

Yes very scared, and angry that a few people get to decide the fate of others.

Yep but I’d change that to ‘Angry that a few men get to decide the fate of others’

Naddd · 13/01/2024 07:31

There is a easier and more humane response.

Stop arming israel, stop supporting genocide.

Its a sad indictment when our so called leaders cannot speak up against war crimes, over 10000 children and babies dead yet when it comes to ships, we must bomb them! .

You have all seen videos that have come out of Palestine yet most of you pretend you can't see.

What arrogance they have, the us and the uk backed by idiots like you for whom human life doesn't matter but cargo does.

You need to check your morals and ask yourselves whether if it were a white non-muslim civilian population that were being murdered, indiscriminately your response would be the same.

jasflowers · 13/01/2024 07:39

Newchapterbeckons · 12/01/2024 20:06

Yeah we saw perfect evidence of an illegal invasion by Blair. Labour are hardly a beacon of peace! I would say that was the worst atrocity in my living memory…

You ve not been paying attention then have you?

That war was led by the USA, and would have happened in any case, with or without UK very limited "help"

I would say that the destruction of Libya, mainly UK (and French) forces by Cameron was far worse in terms of the effects on Europe.

You'll have to link to the charges & conviction of Tony Blair?i believe he was never charged, let alone put in the 'dock.

Illegal War is just you view, nothing else.

However, this isn't Destruction Top Trumps, i was referring to the pp who was claiming various Russian invasions is all the fault of those nasty Germans...again!

What's going to happen to Israel f "we" stop arming them?

Your posts seems very high on emotion but low on common sense.

The cargo which you seem to despise so much is one sustaining life, or would you rather freeze this winter?

Do you have the same compassion and sympathy for the babies and children killed in Israel a few weeks ago?

TrashedSofa · 13/01/2024 09:17

I can't see that the UK provide enough arms to Israel for us to be able to use it as a lever on their actions.

Naddd · 13/01/2024 09:27

How many children and babies died? One baby and 36 children. 10000+ have been kiiled in Palestine.
Stop trying to justify the 100 days since 7th October.
Of course i have sympathy for those that died that does not justify what has happened since.

What annoys me is most people in this country do not support Israel’s actions since the Hamas attack . I certainly don’t but now it’s our country (in our name) is now in conflict with Yemen who is one of the few places who are trying to fight back against the annihilation that is going on in Gaza.
As the BBC news has just said ‘There are two ways at looking at this conflict’ but I can guess which way the UK’s media narrative will be.
As for the 2.5 billion pounds Sunak has just given in military aid to Ukraine. What a shame there isn’t the same sort of investment in peace.

Because our enemy's friend isn't necessarily our friend as well, if I understood your post correctly.

The Houthis are terrorising and kidnapping civilian trade ships. They are attacking warships as well, but that's OK with you because they are anti Israel?

As for the 2.5 billion for Ukraine, you are lamenting the lack of investment in peace while supporting attacks on civilian trade and warships by the Houthis? That's a very interesting take on things.

Are you suggesting we should support Houthi?

Do you know what they are doing?

kerstina · 13/01/2024 09:58

I don’t support Houthi but I don’t see anyone trying to really stop what is happening in Gaza .The UN are getting nowhere ?

Ginmonkeyagain · 13/01/2024 10:15

I don't think for one minute the Houthis give the slightest shit about ordinary Palestinians, they certainly care little for the welfare of their fellow Yemenis. They have just spotted an opportunity to leverage the current situation for their benefit
