Ours is a on fire at the moment. Usually it's just dog poo and why is the helicopter out, and tourists parking in the pub car park to go for a walk and getting a ticket..

However in the last week or so it has popped off and I'm living for the drama 🤣 it's not even the local community groups,

It's beef between 2 niche (very niche) hobby pages where one is saying x will happen and the other is saying y will happen, then page 1 started posting passive aggressive comments on the page of page 2 and frankly it's incredible.

Any one else got something fun going on, on their Facebook groups?

10 year old girl went missing from school just beside me. All over Facebook. An hour or so later she was found asleep in her class. So relieved she was found, but omg the panic her parents and the teacher must have felt

Winniespooh · 08/01/2024 20:50

Road works which may or may not have made the road worse. No one is sure.

Best primary schools - with no regards to admissions requirements in our very popular town. Cue bunfight when someone suggests you won't get in if you live far from x, y, or z school or won't get in if you're not baptised for a,b,c school.

The mad cat lady who, as soon as a lost cat is posted, is out with her chip scanner only to discover yet again that it's a cat from round the corner who likes to visit the park.

Eggsley · 08/01/2024 20:50

State of the doctors surgery - they never answer the phone and have admitted on the Facebook page that they turn the phones to silent so they don't hear them, which went down as well as you can imagine 🤦‍♀️ there's at least two posts a week on this.

New bypass - roads have been closed/opened on repeat for 18 months, traffic lights are stuck on red again in both directions, speed limit not right, diggers have had their windows smashed, the drama about the bypass is never ending. At least two posts a day on this.

There are youths in dark clothing cycling or riding around on e-scooters.

Potholes everywhere. Although the power of the village Facebook page did manage to get an entire road re-surfaced when everyone reported the same road online in the same evening - they had about 250 reports and re-surfaced the whole thing a week later. It's being debated which road to mass-report next.

IHaveAskedYouThriceNow · 08/01/2024 20:52

Mainly:
Poster 1: Can young lads driving tractors please slow down through the village and/or get off their phones whilst driving?
Poster 3,4,5,6,7etc: Fuck off ignorant townie

thenightsky · 08/01/2024 20:52

Straw on the pavements, roads and in the gutters, blocking the drains.

NoNotMyHair · 08/01/2024 20:53

Parking at the school, a dead deer , a dead fox, an upside down sheep ( call the shepherdess), holes in the road , DPD parcels at wrong doors and people putting photos of cuddly toys in the snow 😄

Jagley · 08/01/2024 20:53

No drama at the moment. It's normally 'what's that load plane that's been circling for ages' followed by someone's photos and exact flight path. We often get military planes practising near us.
'There's a cygnet missing from the park lake' it's normally found later. People treating the swans badly which is awful.

Spottymushroom · 08/01/2024 20:54

Ours is flooding. We got done snow today so people had to post incase the rest of us don’t have windows.

Canonlythinkofthisone · 08/01/2024 20:55

TruthRevolution · 08/01/2024 19:38

Sheds and outhouses being broken into, lost bank cards and cats.

Dodgy characters spotted on ring door bells.

You must live near me 🤣

WandaWonder · 08/01/2024 20:55

Lots of lost pets and lots of found pets, yet they don't connect the 2

NoNotMyHair · 08/01/2024 20:56

tillytoodles1 · 08/01/2024 19:27

I haven't looked for a few days, but a load of dead chickens has fallen out of a delivery van and been left in the road.

This wins the prize - any photos?😂

mondaytosunday · 08/01/2024 20:59

We have a street WhatsApp not FB group. At the moment it's the revised post holiday bin collection schedule, though earlier it was if 'Virgin is out at yous'. Someone gave away a dog ramp...
It's generally very helpful and informative, not much moaning at all.

notnowbernadette · 08/01/2024 21:00

Ours is the life and times of the police helicopter interspersed with missing parcels and the latest temporary traffic lights

CharlotteStreetW1 · 08/01/2024 21:02

It's actually been quite exciting lately...

  1. That the main driving thoroughfare and nail bar / charity shop / coffee shop / barber shopping Street is apparently going to be closed from today until November which, if true, would be a disaster.

  2. That a well known individual with learning difficulties has been keying loads of cars recently (true).

  3. That McDonald's is coming to town. This is also true and the town is torn!

GymBergerac · 08/01/2024 21:03

Ours tends to go in a cycle

Potholes
Dog crap
Are there any mobile hairdressers?
Is this your front door? It's not mine and my parcel has been delivered there..
Youths on the park
More potholes...

Repeat....

Twofurrycats · 08/01/2024 21:04

Lost cats, stray cats, ferrets found on streets (surprisingly often and not the same ferret).
There was a long one about who was at fault when the police hit a car. Someone turned the comments off before it got too out of hand.
Sunday mornings are great for tracking the local pub crawl when people's keys, bag, phone, coat turn up in different pubs.

You might want to direct them to this Cheshire tractor driver killed cyclist while looking at Snapchat
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-67384172
It was awful.

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 08/01/2024 21:07

McDonald's has submitted a planning application - the uproar! I reckon it's 90% against.

Tbf we already have a (very) large selection of fast food places including about 4 Indian restaurants that opened within a 7/8 minute walk of each other within the space of two weeks. 2 of them are 3 doors apart!

ASimpleLampoon · 08/01/2024 21:08

It's Fucking boring.

I only join because I work for a community group and I need to post the events.

dog poo, bins , 20 mph speed limit (Wales) , cycle paths, no cat can set a Fucking paw outside without being photographed and po sted as lost. (do paper collars really exist?
makes me want to stab my eyes out but nowhere near as batshit as NextDoor

Unwisebutnotillegal · 08/01/2024 21:11

Ours is really sad today as someone died in our local shop. Lovely tribute on the page as well as thanks to the shop staff and emergency services who clearly tried their best to save him. In a world that sometimes feels dark there are decent, kind and thoughtful people.

DisaL · 08/01/2024 21:11

Pork pies! An anonymous poster moaning about how awful his Christmas pork pie was. Hasn't named the butchers they bought it from so now everyone is naming their butcher and claiming they're the best.

Other than that it's lost cats that aren't lost, lost bank cards and lost phones. Its like living in the Bermuda triangle!

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 08/01/2024 21:12

Oh and we also have a very friendly cat that likes to wander. It often goes to sit at a table outside Costa (inside if it can get away with it), wanders round the park etc. It's been found in all sorts of places. Often gets taken to a random vet as lost.

So lots of posts of does anyone own this cat, problem is it's black with no real identifying feature so any lost / found black cat if presumed to be it.

LifeOfBriony · 08/01/2024 21:12

The local Church has a vacancy for a vicar (true).
A woman keeps posting that she is going to be the new vicar. Several helpful people have posted to point out the qualifications needed in order to be a vicar and the process to follow to apply for the vacancy. Others have posted to ridicule her.
Woman also regularly posts a picture of the curate “who looks a lovely lady” and asks if this is the new vicar. Others reply, explaining who the curate is.
Someone has asked her to stop repeating herself.
It’s a bit bonkers.

IcouldbutIdontwantto · 08/01/2024 21:13

Ours really isn't very exciting today - people promoting their businesses, others not looking at these posts and asking for people to recommend cleaners/gardeners etc mainly.

There was one post from someone a few days ago lamenting the closure of a pub and how sad it is that places like this can't survive, only for the staff to come on to say they're only shut for a few days for maintenance 😆

ButteryBiscuitBaseBiscuitBase · 08/01/2024 21:15

There was an incident on the tracks in the next village along and someone was hurt. People were speculating and family members and friends were understandably very annoyed about it.
