Ours is a on fire at the moment. Usually it's just dog poo and why is the helicopter out, and tourists parking in the pub car park to go for a walk and getting a ticket..

However in the last week or so it has popped off and I'm living for the drama 🤣 it's not even the local community groups,

It's beef between 2 niche (very niche) hobby pages where one is saying x will happen and the other is saying y will happen, then page 1 started posting passive aggressive comments on the page of page 2 and frankly it's incredible.

Any one else got something fun going on, on their Facebook groups?

I feel very left out!
ours is rubbish, just lost cats and endless ‘can anyone recommend a tradesman?’ posts that are spammed by wives tagging in their husband’s business.

@Curlygirl06 you are also familiar with the feral youth of said 'W' Town then who are apparently all going to be descending on it to fight and cause trouble!

Don't forget they'll be drag racing round the car park, as you get 2 hours free in that one! Carnage, I tell you.

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 10/01/2024 11:48

@Curlygirl06 @Slaytoday

Ah maybe it's a different W - this one won't have a carpark and as the only pub in the town centre is a weatherspoons I don't think that counts as posh!!

Peccary · 10/01/2024 12:44

Ours are going to explode tonight, a TV drama was filmed here last year and it airs this evening.

As is usual this time of year, its a repeat of 'is x bridge open', complaints about people driving through flood water, complaining about people asking about roads being open (TBF, the twitter for the highways agency locally is very good on showing these, and there is a network of free to access webcams pointed at areas which flood so it is very easy to check yourself), complaining about people on the routes to avoid flooding, asking a week after flooding if routes are open. And making fun of the people who ignore all the road signs and drive into the flood water and destroy their car/van/bus in the process.
DH and I play flood bingo with the photos posted as there are a selection that must always be shown.

HoobleDooble · 10/01/2024 13:06

Pot Holes, some people have huge pot holes in the street, some streets have now had their pot holes filled causing jealous reactions from those who still haven't been filled, and those who have been filled are complaining about the quick shoddy job that's been done and are counting down the days until they can start reporting them to the council again.

fliptopbin · 10/01/2024 13:15

Our classic one in our village where absolutely nothing happens, was one night when some people noticed someone "acting suspiciously, looking through the bushes by the side of the path! This actually escalated to people suggesting calling 101 to log this suspicious behaviour. It really was the drama for the night!
Then the next morning, another message appeared. Somebody had found a bunch of keys in the very place where the man was rummaging. Hhhmmm, wonder whether there was a connection??? (Of course there was!)

We have a Wetherspoons in town as well, but the McDonald's is being built in a business park so lots of parking there for when it's open in the evening and the shops shut.

CreepyDibillo · 10/01/2024 19:24

The usual helicopter posts.
Whether any local nail techs can squeeze in a set of acrylics before the weekend.
Nobody can get an NHS dentist yet Grant Shapps (our MP) voted against increasing NHS dentistry appointments yesterday. There are always a lot of posts about him.

Horrace · 10/01/2024 19:35

We must all live in the same town/village

McDonald's maybe opening soon dragging the area down apparently

We're potentially getting a Lidl, which will (apparently) similarly drag the area down

A councillor was quoted to say that it's a disgrace that some people save up all their lives to be able to afford this area, then a Lidl opens (much shuddering and pearl clutching)

I mean, it's a decent area but not exactly exclusive or posh

People seem quite happy to shop at Lidl bit don't want one nearby. Now if Waitrose had applied for planning permission, I'm sure it would be a different story...

Theoldcuriosityshop · 10/01/2024 22:28

We had a 'BEWARE' post about a person in a black hoodie going round late at night peering over hedges, lurking near cars etc.
Following day an irate woman stated that the hooded person was her searching for her cat. I laughed for ages over that one.

The local litter pickers (who do a sterling job, big up the local litter pickers) left some bin bags stacked very neatly, to be collected by the council this morning, they've been instrumental in clearing up the remaining rubbish from recent bin strikes and have done a really good job, most residents are very grateful for their hard, voluntary work. Unfortunately (for them) they left the bags near someone's £1000 fence and the owner of said £1000 fence is now acting like the £1000 fence is going to immediately rot and fall over and that permission should have been sought from them to leave the bags, in the street, next to a public bin, that just so happens to be near their £1000 fence. They have made such a fuss that one of the local litter pickers has had to come back and move said bags so they are a few inches away from said £1000 fence.

It's not surprising, it's the same resident who started a campaign to have the LTN removed as they didn't like the planters being near their house (and £1000 fence) and then promptly lost all interest when the planters near their house were moved as part of an adjustment to the LTN.

Snowflakecookie1989 · 11/01/2024 11:38

Severe floods near me. A man was seen walking into the river a week ago. Police and helicopters etc. still not been found :(

ChangeNameNameChange · 11/01/2024 11:43

The phantom dog shit bag thrower. It's been going on for years.

I deleted facebook nearly 10 years ago but created an account under a fake name just to keep up with the local drama. I'd say people have too much time on their hands but I'm obviously not one to talk.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 11/01/2024 11:50

I don’t even need to look at Facebook to know that right this instant there’ll be a few posts about the quarry blast that has just happened.

“were the blast warnings posted to tell us about this one?”

“ooh that was a big one, even my cat/dog/horse/goldfish felt it”

“they’re getting bigger, felt that in xx street”

“obligatory photo of random superficial crack in plasterwork”

Deathbyathousandcats · 11/01/2024 15:21

People driving round slowly in vans, committing the crime of ‘looking Eastern European’

WiddlinDiddlin · 11/01/2024 15:34

Ours is v boring...

Is X roundabout closed (it sometimes floods, however now its a not very funny in-joke to check the status of the roundabout all year round).

So and so is back nicking bikes again.

Roadworks.

McDonalds milkshake machine.

It got terribly exciting a few months back when someones Nan complained that her darling GS had been refused service in McDonalds and he was having a hypo... but then she said he'd had to inject and couldn't get food fast enough and when queried why a diabetic would inject insulin during a HYPO... it all got a bit sticky...

Turned out Darling GS was a lying little toad and he'd actually been asked to put his shirt on in McDonalds rather than go topless (and sweaty) inside the store, and he'd made up some bullshit story to claim McD's staff were discriminating against him, but clearly doesn't quite understand it well enough (or Nan doesn't) to produce a believable tale!

Then theres the general moaning about too many coffee shops and charity shops and we want a Burger King or KFC.

8misskitty8 · 11/01/2024 20:07

Today a post with a photo of a beautiful cat. Poster found it in her garden and complained it scared away all the birds. Ranted that all ‘domestic cats’ should be indoors.
Comments have links to articles about cats spoiling local wildlife or about cats being free Roamers and posts telling the poster to Get a grip.
Also posts saying cats should have collars and others saying they shouldn’t due to them catching on things and harming cats.

Blingismything · 11/01/2024 20:21

We need new volunteers for the village community speedwatch. Full training given.

Identify this doorstep photo for missing parcels.

Have you been feeding my cat?

Is there a local wildlife hospital for this injured hedgehog/pigeon?

Gingerkittykat · 11/01/2024 23:27

Evri has delivered this parcel to my house, does anybody know who the parcel belongs to?

Evri parcel was delivered to this house (shows photo of somone's door), hoping to be reunited with their parcel.

G, Evri delivery man posts a big rant about how people shouldn't give him such low ratings as he has lost his bonus!

Beargrumps22 · 14/01/2024 14:39

TooFondOfBooks · 14/01/2024 15:31

@raspberrycheesecakes [N/S]Eastenders are more alike than the dividing river allows us to admit 😉 I hope your MP (& indeed mine) has a good team.

@AllTheChaos was pretty pleased myself 😉 our LTNs have quite a lot of support - the Borough has very low car ownership, lots of the traffic is people coming through here; & lots of roads [used to] get used as cut throughs, but there have been (understandable & justified) complaints about them just moving them the problem around, often to the most deprived parts of a deprived Borough with a few affluent patches. Guess where the problem’s directed away from? 🤨
