Ours is a on fire at the moment. Usually it's just dog poo and why is the helicopter out, and tourists parking in the pub car park to go for a walk and getting a ticket..

However in the last week or so it has popped off and I'm living for the drama 🤣 it's not even the local community groups,

It's beef between 2 niche (very niche) hobby pages where one is saying x will happen and the other is saying y will happen, then page 1 started posting passive aggressive comments on the page of page 2 and frankly it's incredible.

Any one else got something fun going on, on their Facebook groups?

Why is the helicopter up

Dog shit posts

Dogs off leads in parks

Who is this (probably perfectly innocent) man I saw walking g past my house on cctv? He looks dodgy (he doesn't!)

HaggisPakora · 08/01/2024 19:43

Ongoing roadworks on a local roundabout, which roads you can/cannot access change every couple of weeks and the latest change has caused tailbacks all day with lots of drivers cutting through residential streets. Reports of a man in one of the cut throughs standing in the middle of the street with his dog.

Nchanged89 · 08/01/2024 19:44

Rats in the Toby Carvery.

Starfish1021 · 08/01/2024 19:45

Cycles and mostly how annoying drivers find them. I’m probably more sensitive because I cycle. But my goodness it does seem to some extremely unpleasant comments.

PeopleAreWeird · 08/01/2024 19:46

Mostly complaining about Fireworks

Greenpolkadot · 08/01/2024 19:46

Pretty boring on ours at the moment.Mostly about dog shit and Avon.
A while back it was rife with the state of the general store and the rude woman in the post office.
I live in a village but the next town along tends to have much more going on .People are named and shamed and accused of roughing up others.making a noise in the street..pinching Halloween stuff and being rude in the butchers..

IncompleteSenten · 08/01/2024 19:47

The gate by the church is broken and apparently has been for a million years and sheep are getting through. Heads will roll.

sprigatito · 08/01/2024 19:47

ItsTheDramaaMick · 08/01/2024 19:25

@sprigatito 🤣 is that a low traffic neighbourhood?

Near us the council blockaded one of the biggest 'rat runs' onto the main road, made traffic so much worse, council said the residents of the road had asked for it. Made even funnier when one of the residents of the road posted on the facebook group he had reported the blockade to the police because it took him an
Hour longer to get to work 🤣🤣

Yep - low traffic neighbourhood. There's one particular Wat Tyler wannabe who has really come into his own since the barriers went in.

Last time I looked it was politics. Haven't looked for a bit though.

Politics were banned for ages, and then they decided to allow it again.
So that means we had the regular councillors taking credit for what "they" have done. Such as the pothole that's been causing issues for three years mended (nothing to do with the fact it probably, after 3 years, got to the top of the list), new shop moved into the shopping centre (I noted they didn't take credit for getting rid of the shop that moved out beforehand which I definitely preferred) and the woman who smiled and said hello to someone having a bad day (not even sure how they worked that one out)...

And so people were kicking off because the two main parties here are now not just posting "See this happened and it was all down to me" it's become "see this happened and it was all down to me, in comparison to the other party who would never have done this..."
People felt this was getting a bit silly, and suggested that doing this actually lost votes rather than helping anything. Some of the councillors tried to explain that they were just "raising awareness" which didn't go down too well.

I suspect shortly we'll be back to no politics again.

PeopleAreWeird · 08/01/2024 19:48

Potholes, flooding and Fireworks

Ohhhthedrama · 08/01/2024 19:52

SNOW!!! Are we going to get snow? Has it started? How long will it last? Will the schools close? Why aren't the schools closed already in anticipation?. Somebody save us from the snow!!( there is no snow)❄️❄️

frecklejuice · 08/01/2024 19:54

ULEZ here! We have the vigilante groups who are still defacing the cameras and then the others telling them that it's a waste of time and money because all they keep doing is repairing the defaced cameras!

We had someone offering empty beauty calendars for free if anyone wanted them for arts/crafts. Someone suggested giving to local nursery. Person agreed.
Someone else then posted wanting the collection address (rude imo) and when told sorry they are gone, posted that its meant to be first come first served.
Another person replied that it did go to the first person. Reply they got was ‘looks shite anyway’

Comedy gold!

Thisilldo · 08/01/2024 19:54

Mud on the green, technology is destroying our chocolate box village and shock horror it’s snowing in January😱which is going to cause mud on the green….

Rinse and repeat until you as bored as I am

PissOffJeffrey · 08/01/2024 19:54

Roadworks, temporary traffic lights & HS2 usually.

There's also been a LOT of new builds in the area in the last couple of years, which have brought a lot of new residents to the area. We also get lots of "new to the village, where's the nearest Lebanese restaurant?" About 60 miles away probably. Always stuns me how little research people do before moving long distances.

frecklejuice · 08/01/2024 19:59

And car thefts. For some reason car theft is rife around here at the moment and every morning another one has gone, you then get people telling the poor person whose car has gone that it's their fault for having an expensive car!!

Merrow · 08/01/2024 19:59

The new cycle lanes have the potential to lead to fistfights based on the comments I've seen. But the quality save is closing, which has unified everyone in grief

That's what these 2 pages are arguing about!! Wherever the snow might materialise, why one of the pages gets sponsored, why the other one thinks he's better at weather prediction 🤣

The most recent blow up was about the bits of fireworks that have fallen all over the town after new years.

"Who's paying to clean it all up?"
"No buggers cleaning it up, it'll just rot"
"One of em hit my car and dented it"
"It's not the fireworks, it's the idiots letting em off at all hours"
"We should be able to complain about the noise and have em arrested"

Arrested! I don't like fireworks, but arrested? That's a bit far..

"Oi, you, letting off a rocket.. get in the cells..."

ChristmasDoDos · 08/01/2024 20:05

On mine there's a drama where someone's dog has attacked and killed somebody's cat in front of their children. It's now turned into a proper witch hunt against the dog owner who, it seems, has form for their dog not being under control and is the sort that doesn't really believe in leads, and doesn't really believe that their dog has done much wrong. There was another incident a few months back involving the same dog chasing a different cat.

Looking at owners FB page there are pictures of the dog loose on the moor in the middle of a herd of ponies amongst other stupid stuff. Quite honestly the dog owners sound ije fecking idiots and I feel sorry for the family whose children saw their cat ripped to bits in front of them.

I fully expect the dog owner to be hounded out of the village (pardon the pun!!)

SausageRollsWithMustard · 08/01/2024 20:05

The page moderator banned anonymous posts, was roundly told off for doing so with a LOT of examples why people might want to post anonymously (to be an arsehole mainly). Anonymous posting allowed again.

Also lots of people wanting to move here, asking if anyone is thinking of selling their house.

Hipnotised · 08/01/2024 20:05

Floods and horses...

Flooded field, poster A says they've seen bedraggled horses without hay.

Person B sets up gofundme to feed horses.

Person C - owner of said horses - is very indignant indeed!

PippingHell · 08/01/2024 20:06

Mostly complaining about slow driving suspicious looking transit vans over the last mont. It's been pointed out we have had Christmas and the January sales and they are probably delivery drivers but because they "don't look local" people are up in arms calling for the police to increase patrols. The usual racist yokel crap really.

Coldinthecity · 08/01/2024 20:06

Cats, fireworks, parking fines, homelessness and cycle lanes.

There has been an influx of homeless people over the past
couple of years. People are so divided - some say give them help, they can’t help it. Others state they have housing or have refused housing offered and just want money for their next hit. This is discussed quite frequently.

There were new cycle lanes a while back which caused much upset. Poorly planned and expensive, there were posts whenever someone used one (which is very rare).

LakeTiticaca · 08/01/2024 20:10

Our usual ones are " whoever knocked my wing mirror off its all on dash cam and you've got 24 hours to come clean or police will be informed. " just send the ruddy footage to your insurance company!!
