Ours is a on fire at the moment. Usually it's just dog poo and why is the helicopter out, and tourists parking in the pub car park to go for a walk and getting a ticket..

However in the last week or so it has popped off and I'm living for the drama 🤣 it's not even the local community groups,

It's beef between 2 niche (very niche) hobby pages where one is saying x will happen and the other is saying y will happen, then page 1 started posting passive aggressive comments on the page of page 2 and frankly it's incredible.

Any one else got something fun going on, on their Facebook groups?

Whose cat is this? Has anyone seen my cat? Whose cat is this? Has anyone seen my cat? Whose cat is this? Has anyone seen my cat?

Ours is about people moving the road closed signs on a flooded road. The flooded road is a major route to the next town and is completely flooded (road under water, surrounding fields all under water). The EA have closed the road and put barriers up. The detour is 1hr 30 minutes due to all the flooding of other roads. If you go down the shut road on a normal day it's 10 minutes.

People are moving the barriers and chancing it. The police are now doing regular checks on the barrier all day and night. Lots of "is __ road open?" And some "yes, Hun I drove over it 10 mins ago", and others "no the road is closed, if you drove through your insurance is invalid" and "no road closed, I tried 2 mins ago". No-one knows what's going on. School busses on 2 hour detours, different school bus companies doing different things - some running and some not. It is absolute carnage.

The mods are refusing posts about the road, which leads to posts about the fact that you cannot post about the road. It's a crazy cycle.

Village bottle bin has not been emptied
People are leaving bags full of empty bottles next to the full bins
Clearly the village had a very good Xmas!

Lol snap. It’s been emptied now, loads of complaints about the bags blowing around.

Also, parking inappropriately at school run time, how shite the GP is and some jokes about how MC the estate is by asking for free caviar on NYE. Some viewers very much missed the joke

Peccary · 08/01/2024 21:23

Business as usual this week- potholes, loose dogs and which is the best Chinese/Indian ?

Last week though, Rishi Sunak came to visit. Imagine the frothing....

Hooplahooping · 08/01/2024 21:27

this is my favourite thread for months. I’m not in any of our local fb groups and am clearly missing out. Pouring self a large glass of wine and joining three immediately!

Londonrach1 · 08/01/2024 21:29

Mostly the flooding and the roads and the fact that roadworks than be on a certain road has reappeared this morning after two weeks of not being there...it's the major road and no way around so cuts the town in half....

PianPianPiano · 08/01/2024 21:31

Bins fucking bins. Going to guess all the PPs who say the same are all from the same area, where seemingly nobody can cope with change. Including, as it turns out, the refuse collectors themselves. Eleventy billion posts a day about whether the bins have been collected; rants about the new blue bags and whether too light, close over enough, are big enough; rants about the food bins ("I don't gave any food waste, I've got a dog and a compost bin, what a waste if money!" Funnily enough Ken, the council don't know your individual circumstances. Just don't use it?!). Rants about the wind. Rants about having buy their own bin liners for the food bin. Threats to leave their rubbish outside the council offices. Rants about which political party is to blame. Rants because someone's aunt's dog sitter's cousin saw the bin men throwing all the recycling in with the general waste so it's all pointless anyway......

It's exhausting! Someone even does regular FB polls to see how many people have had their bins collected (and then is disappointed because it turns out lots of people have..).

gratefulforcousins · 08/01/2024 21:32

Someone asking for a telephone number for a local shop, me putting on a sarcastic link to the Google search coz she's always at it for attention then all her mates piling on calling me a bitch, it's so funny 😁

Theunamedcat · 08/01/2024 21:33

Is the bridge open?

Loads of annoyed frothing about flood defenses being worked on in winter (they had to stop work due to flooding which tbf is fucking bound to happen)

Irritation at the one way system

EveryOtherNameTaken · 08/01/2024 21:33

Loving this thread.

NotManyDaysTilChristmas · 08/01/2024 21:37

A few weeks ago a man escaped from a prison van and was in hiding in the local allotments, wearing grey jogging bottoms and no shirt! One woman said, good on him, not many do that, although her ex had apparently! They caught him, and the local fb group was like a live feed of the events!

Tatumm · 08/01/2024 21:38

My cat is missing…

My bin hasn’t been collected…

Has anyone seen the gritting lorry on x road tonight?

…It’s boring…

Evanesy · 08/01/2024 21:39

Two things:

Bins - collections last week should have been a day later due to the bank holiday but many streets had their bins collected on the original day, meaning that lots of people didn’t have their bins out.

Dogs on leashes - a local park / field / nature reserve now requires dogs to be on leashes. Huge uproar from dog owners.

Fionaville · 08/01/2024 21:39

Litter, shopping trollies being dumped in the river, youths generally looking shifty, dog owners not picking the dog poo up/having uncontrollable dogs off lead. Cars racing on the industrial estate.
Questions-
Where's my parcel/who's parcel is this?
Anybody know what time Asda opens?
Why is the police helicopter out?
What's the point of paying council tax?
Seasonal-
Grrr fireworks! My poor pet!
What day does X school go back in?
Why haven't the council cut the grass?

TitusMoan · 08/01/2024 21:39

The announcement of asylum seekers being housed at council’s expense in private housing. Hasn’t been nice to witness 300 people who’ve not even arrived yet be blamed for the mould in someone’s housing association property.

Wonderifitsme · 08/01/2024 21:40

The school car park (newly installed, one way system, much bigger). Loads of frothing about the new design, the traffic flow, how dangerous it is and ‘someone is going to get killed’.

all the cars are doing 2-5mph in a steady queue, it’s unlikely.

mindutopia · 08/01/2024 21:40

New parking meter installations and where has the Evri guy left the parcels today?

MoleseyMom · 08/01/2024 21:41

Coatscoatscoast · 08/01/2024 19:28

We have flooding locally so ours is high drama but justified for once!

Flooding here too. Plenty of associated drama which includes sewage, closed roads, parking, power cuts and flood tourists.......

8misskitty8 · 08/01/2024 21:41

We also have at least a couple of posts a week about one of the doctors surgery’s. MP’s are involved, Lots of posts about phones being engaged and screenshots of how long they have been on hold.

Posts about the rood flooding near the new builds.
Cycle/pedestrian pavements and who has right of way and cyclists taking over.

Londonrach1 · 08/01/2024 21:42

If yes the parking metres and the fact that you can't pay by coins.. tbh it's hell and killing the town with the parking app that no one wants or understands...

TruthRevolution · 08/01/2024 19:38

Sheds and outhouses being broken into, lost bank cards and cats.

Dodgy characters spotted on ring door bells.

Same, the groups are good for talking about local crime and warning people.

Lots of people give stuff away and ask for recommendations for tradespeople.

Tigresswoods · 08/01/2024 21:43

Cats. It's all these cats just out being cats. <clutches pearls> take them to the vet, check for a microchip! A cat has been found OUTSIDE ALONE & it appears to be STARVING!!!!

PossumintheHouse · 08/01/2024 21:43

There’s a bloke in ours that loses his ferrets every week. Every. Week. Asks where the ferrets are, usually somebody says there’s a ferret in their garden. That’s it. Until the next week.

Speedygonzales78 · 08/01/2024 21:44

Travellers in the sports centre carpark.
When do the bins get collected.
Fireworks being set off to signify drugs are ready.
When will the new Puregym open.
The council are bloodsucking money wasting bastards.
To name a few 🤣

movingtodevon1 · 08/01/2024 21:45

Loving all the easily identifiable bin posts from a certain Wiltshire town!..... To be fair the new blue recycling bag is crap though!
