And if you have the heating on low overnight and if so what setting?

OP posts:
Mynewnameis · 03/01/2024 20:59

17 degrees. I like it cold to sleep

Whattobakeiwonder · 03/01/2024 21:01

Mine is always very cool, we sleep with the window open even if there's snow on the ground. Definitely not the sort of house who leave the heating on overnight 😉

NahHumBrag · 03/01/2024 21:01

Heating is set to kick in if the temperature drops below 17 degrees and I sleep with the window open all year round.

MrsQTip · 03/01/2024 21:02

No heating on at night I did accidentally leave it on a few nights ago overnight and woke up in the small hours boiling hot and with a completely blocked nose and sore throat, I do have a splendid electric underblanket though and live in the south where we haven’t even had a proper frost yet. I get that some parts of UK are a lot colder than here.

LovedFedAndNoonesDead · 03/01/2024 21:03

14-17c depending on how cold it is outside and which way the wind is blowing on that particular day - tonight it’s around 15.8c. But then we don’t have any heating upstairs in our house (crappy rental where landlord does see it as a necessity!!) so we have a heated throw on the bed that we put on if it’s particularly cold; we all wear socks in bed and, at the moment, all sleep in one room.

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 03/01/2024 21:04

Heating off, only to kick in if drops below 14 degrees, bedroom is usually 15/15.5 degrees over night

cardibach · 03/01/2024 21:04

Heating off overnight (or to be precise, set to come on if it goes below 12 to basically ensure it never does). Bedroom windows open in day (closed at night) and no radiator on unless it’s really freezing. House set to 18 in the evenings. I like a cold bedroom and a thick duvet.

WhateverMate · 03/01/2024 21:04

Heating is off at night. No idea what the the temp is but I'm menopausal and always too hot!

Ohnotyoutoo · 03/01/2024 21:04

It's about 15-17 degrees at night for us, I think.

AhBiscuits · 03/01/2024 21:05

Probably about 18. No heating on but it's a fairly warm room at the top of the house.

sewingstockings · 03/01/2024 21:05

No heating on overnight. I was brought up with no central heating and heating overnight wasn’t a thing when my kids were little. So I have never done it. Central heating comes on half an hour before I get up. So it’s warm for me to shower.

TheWriteStuff · 03/01/2024 21:05

Ideally about 16c.

Lower than about 13c is too cold. Anything above 22c is too warm - but in winter when I have a big duvet, anything above 17c is too high.

DragonflyLady · 03/01/2024 21:06

We have storage heaters but not in the bedroom. Currently 20 degrees and have the window open.

Devilsmommy · 03/01/2024 21:06

Even though it makes me warm mines on all night at 22 because my toddlers room feels freezing if it's any lower and he will not keep a blanket on him no matter how cold he is🙄

mumsytoon · 03/01/2024 21:06

Ours is 21-22. Can't sleep in a freezing room.

Createausername1970 · 03/01/2024 21:07

Overnight heating is set to come on if the temperature falls below 10 degrees. It is set to come on during the day if it falls below 18.5.

I often sleep with the top window open a bit, even through the winter. We are lucky that our property is fairly new and very well insulated. Added to which the dog often sleeps on the bed and she radiates heat.

ThinWomansBrain · 03/01/2024 21:09

If it's really cold out, I'll leave the oil fired radiator on in the bedroom, but will often wake and flick it off if I'm too warm. Don't leave central heating on at night.

FlyingCherub · 03/01/2024 21:09

Heating goes off around 10pm, can't bear it on overnight. I sleep with the ensuite window open and my fan on otherwise I can't sleep.

DH has stropped off to the spare room where he sweats under a 15 tog duvet.

megletthesecond · 03/01/2024 21:10

Heating on all night. My bedroom settles at 21°. I can't sleep in the cold, tried and failed.

ntmdino · 03/01/2024 21:10

Heating's off overnight, and I'd guess it gets down to about 8-10C. We both like it cold, as does our Akita (for obvious reasons). Our Chihuahua nests under a pillow on our bed, and the Romanian rescue lived the first three months of his life in a forest, so he's just grateful it's not snowing on him.

Mumaway · 03/01/2024 21:10

Heating off 9pm to 6am, usually hovers around 15-16 degrees except when it's very cold outside and falls as low as 12. We have a 13tog duvet in the winter.

Zanatdy · 03/01/2024 21:11

No idea but never ever have the heating on overnight. It always goes off at 10pm. Now I’m living in a flat I’ve not had my heating on for 2wks and it’s 20 degrees. Dips to 19 sometimes but warms back up in the day

SnowsFalling · 03/01/2024 21:11

House at around 18 (so cooler than some).
Bedroom radiator set slightly lower.
Heating off around 8pm. Drops to 15 or 16 at 4am. Heating back on at 5.30 ready for me to get up at 6am at about 17C again.

steff13 · 03/01/2024 21:11

64°F at night.

mrsfollowill · 03/01/2024 21:12

Our heating is off at night- I like to be warm in the day but like a cool bedroom for sleep- Thermostat goes down to 10C (lowest setting it will go) it doesn't kick in overnight. Like fresh air so window often open a crack so long as not windy.
DH is a furnace and I'm peri so once we are in bed it's soon warm. Room is prob 12/13 c by the morning - bit less on a snowy/icy day.
