And if you have the heating on low overnight and if so what setting?

mottytotty · 03/01/2024 21:43

Heating off, i like it cold at bedtime.

tralalalalalalalal · 03/01/2024 21:47

If I could afford it I'd have the heating on constantly over night, also with the window open and the fan on. Defo my fave set up- slight breeze, fresh air, and heat 😍

justasking111 · 03/01/2024 21:48

Heating off in bedroom, duvet and comforter in the winter, small windows open. My nose gets cold sometimes but we sleep better. OH has night shirts these days in the winter.

HidingFromDD · 03/01/2024 21:49

Heating off. And generally 19 daytime max, sometimes bump it to 20 if it gets really cold outside. Can’t sleep in a hot room. I like a cold room and a warm bed. Wonder if it’s a generational thing as we didn’t have central heating as a child

Muchtoomuchtodo · 03/01/2024 21:52

Our thermostat is set at 15 degrees from 10pm to 5.30am

WingsofRain · 03/01/2024 21:52

We don’t have heating so our indoors temperature varies depending on what it is outside.

This morning it was 7C when I woke up, but it tends to fluctuate between 3 or 4C and around 10C in the winter. It’s rare for it to drop below freezing.

idontlikealdi · 03/01/2024 21:52

No idea we don't have a thermostat but I like a cold room and cosy duvet so never have heating on overnight.

Couchant · 03/01/2024 21:53

No heating overnight, window open at whatever temperature, unless it’s so windy internal doors are slamming and my hair blowing around . When I lived in the Swiss Alps, I kept it open at -17.

Pootlepattle · 03/01/2024 21:54

Have it cold with fresh air coming through, not heating even if it went below zero, wear lovely pyjamas and have two duvets and a bedspread so can regulate

im convinced that being cold but cosy helps with better sleep…this is for adults though different for kids, they have an ambient temperature

pangolina · 03/01/2024 21:55

Mine's about 15 I think. Heating comes on at 12 degrees (so doesn't come on, basically) and I have window open. I have a big duvet and blanket though as I like a cold room and warm bed.

Comefromaway · 03/01/2024 21:55

My heating is all run from a thermostat. After 11pm it’s set to only kick in if the temperature goes below 14 degrees.

BobnLen · 03/01/2024 21:55

We don't have the heating on unless it's really cold but I do have my electric blanket on

BigFatCat2024 · 03/01/2024 21:55

Whattobakeiwonder · 03/01/2024 21:01

Mine is always very cool, we sleep with the window open even if there's snow on the ground. Definitely not the sort of house who leave the heating on overnight 😉

This is us too. I have to be cold to sleep

RocksOn · 03/01/2024 21:55

We never have the heating on at night and our window is open all year round.

We can’t stand a warm bedroom. I maintain this is why we don’t get colds.

caringcarer · 03/01/2024 21:58

I always switch heating off overnight as asthmatic and can't breathe with heating on overnight. Heating goes off at about 11.30pm and back on at 7am

tillyandmilly · 03/01/2024 22:01

No heating on - wjbdow wide open - get very restless if over 18 degrees in room

We’re the same with no central heating. Currently it’s quite mild so sitting at around 9/10 degrees, but when we get a cold snap it drops to 3 or 4 degrees.

I’m always surprised on these threads that people say they don’t put the heating on at all at night. Does it not drop to similar temperatures? I can’t imagine choosing for it to be that chilly.

HideTheCroissants · 03/01/2024 22:09

From 8.30 pm the heating will only come on if the temp drops below 10 degrees (hardly ever). On a weekday the thermostat is set to 17.5 from 5.45 am to warm up for when we get up at 6.30.
I can’t bear being too warm.

odfod5 · 03/01/2024 22:10

21.5 overnight.

baileybrosbuildingandloan · 03/01/2024 22:10

16 but out house stays so warm that it never kicks in 😊

herewego2024 · 03/01/2024 22:11

When I go up it’ll be around 18/19 degrees, heating goes off at 10pm back on at 6am, it’s normally around 15/16 when I get up, I have window open a bit

DuesToTheDirt · 03/01/2024 22:11

We never have the heating on overnight. That's what duvets are for.

SweetPetrichor · 03/01/2024 22:13

Depends on the outside weather. Heating is off upstairs and I like the window open to sleep.

DelilahBucket · 03/01/2024 22:13

Depends how cold it is overnight. Heating goes off at 10 and doesn't come on until the morning, and only then if it's dropped below 17. The bedroom radiator is set at 2 so doesn't come on at all unless it's really cold. It isn't good to sleep in a warm room.

ManateeFair · 03/01/2024 22:13

I never have the heating on overnight. I think it’s set to kick in if the temperature drops below about 15C but it never does. I can’t stand being too warm at night.
