And if you have the heating on low overnight and if so what setting?

We have no heating but even when we did we never had the heating on in the bedroom.

No idea of what temperature it is but I take a hot water bottle to bed to warm up my toes.

No heating at all? Or no central heating? If no, how do you keep warm when it is truly cold? Is your home very very well insulated?

My DNana didn't have CH, just her big open fire in her living room. Nothing elsewhere, just heavy Blankets in the bedrooms to sleep at night. Ice forming on the inside of the windows. Was like thisuntil she died in 1999 aged 99.

LifeonMarsnotVenus · 03/01/2024 21:25

Heating off at night and temp between 10-14° as I leave the window open. I hate it when it goes over 17° in the summer months at night. Thankfully, we don't live in the UK so it doesn't get too hot here.

I prefer the daytime temp around 18-19°

23C

I never set the heating that high even in the day! And it feels too hot for us in here when it gets up to that sort of level in the summer. Neither of us like heat. Beach holidays are our idea of torture!

coldcallerbaiter · 03/01/2024 21:26

18-20 degrees

Mirrormeback · 03/01/2024 21:27

My hearing is set to 7 degrees overnight but the rooms are always far warmer than that because heating is set to 18/19 during the day in the winter.

twigolsenisabrat · 03/01/2024 21:28

Heating off overnight. Bedroom window open so around 13-14C overnight in winter-but have a good winter duvet which is toasty & warm.

Wehadabetamax · 03/01/2024 21:28

I don't know the actual temperature but the heating is off overnight and the window is open. For some reason I'm always cold during the day and boiling at night. I sleep so much better in a cold room.

I can't sleep in a cold room, same as a few others on the thread. I have had to when heating broke down last Christmas and it was awful. Very depressing. Draughty and cold. No thanks.

DappledThings · 03/01/2024 21:28

About 17 because it won't get colder despite window wide open and radiator off.

About 15 is my ideal.

PickledPurplePickle · 03/01/2024 21:29

We don't heat our bedroom, so it depends, tonight it is 15.8

VerbenaGirl · 03/01/2024 21:29

I once read that a cool room with a warm bed was best for a good night’s sleep - so I embrace that and it works for me. Heating is set to kick in if the temperature drops below 14 at night and then a spell at 17 when we get up.

yikesanotherbooboo · 03/01/2024 21:30

I don't know but no heating and window open 365 days a year. The house isn't particularly cold...the house we were in when DC1 was born was perishing .

It's really bad to wear socks to bed. Have a Google about it.

Just googled and it's only coming up with why it's good to wear socks in bed!

Kalevala · 03/01/2024 21:31

Probably 16 at the moment as it's a warm room. No heating overnight. It can drop lower but it's always warmer than downstairs.

MRSMTO · 03/01/2024 21:32

No idea! Never have any heating on overnight!

Redglitter · 03/01/2024 21:34

Heating is off. Window open

UnctuousUnicorns · 03/01/2024 21:34

Heating thermostat set to 10 degrees overnight. Window open unless there's driving rain blowing in. Hate a warm bedroom at night.

Catza · 03/01/2024 21:36

No heating at night. No idea what temperature it is but must be below 16 as the heating kicks in at 6am and it is set to turn on if the temperature is below 16.

Badgerandfox227 · 03/01/2024 21:36

Drops to about 14-16 at night. I sleep in bed socks, pjs, a hoody, and have a thick blanket. Kids all have extra blankets. Very cosy. We don’t have the heating on at night, I like it to be cooler.

ApolloandDaphne · 03/01/2024 21:37

Heating off at night. It makes a noise when it comes on and wakes me so I keep it off. It can be as low as 14 when I wake but it heats up quickly once the heating goes on.

BrightLightTonight · 03/01/2024 21:38

No heating, and normally window open, unless blowing a gale

ithinkthatmaybeimdreaming · 03/01/2024 21:38

I don't have any form of heating in my bedroom, and have no idea what the temperature is.

dudsville · 03/01/2024 21:38

I don't know the temp, but it's too cold for him and too warm for me! Our central heating is off unless the temp drops below 16, but the house usually keeps warm. I go to bed first, turn the radiator down and either open windows or leave them on that slightly open locked setting. Off to Google the socks thing as i do like to do this!

Sylver75 · 03/01/2024 21:40

I have no heating in the bedroom unless I stick an electric heater on. Very high ceilings too so if gets cold enough to see your breath. I have an electric blanket that I put on to preheat the bed and then it's fluffy socks, long nightie and sometimes a dressing gown under a duvet and blanket.

I agree with you about cold rooms , I just can’t do it- I was visiting some friends house for a few days recently and I was so worried about being cold in bed and made sure I brought a fleece to sleep in, but thankfully each room had its own temperature control so I was able to ensure it was warm enough for me overnight.

My room is currently at 23 degrees but I suspect it will go down rapidly once I turn the heating off at 11pm. It’s a new building but the main bedroom doesn’t seem too well insulated.
