Do you wear underwear in bed?

I’m just curious to see what people do. I grew up with my mum telling us not to wear underwear in bed to let our bits and pieces ‘breathe’. I’m now a lot older and I still apply that to myself and my child, plus it’s so much comfier and I cannot think of anything worse than sleeping with underwear on.

So:
YABU: I do wear underwear in bed
YANBU: I don’t wear underwear in bed

I wear knickers and a tshirt or vest. I get too hot in any sort of pyjama bottoms.

SamW98 · 02/01/2024 23:36

I can’t sleep naked. I wear pyjamas in the winter and a vest and knickers in the summer.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/01/2024 23:36

Yes - pants and a nightshirt or one of DP’s t-shirts. If I don’t shower before bed I wear clean knickers to sleep in.

TeaGinandFags · 02/01/2024 23:41

I wear M&S cotton undies day and night as I find that the seam from the jammies chafes.

If weather hot, French nicks help with ventilation, especially during the day.

In the letting your bits breathe camp! I don’t wear anything to bed unless it’s freezing or I’m on. And then I hate it.

oneflewoverthe · 02/01/2024 23:44

I always wear pants to bed. My bits can breathe fine. I just find it more comfortable.

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 02/01/2024 23:50

No, I don't wear underwear in bed. Why would I.

ButteryBiscuitBaseBiscuitBase · 02/01/2024 23:52

Dh sleeps in his birthday suit; I wear undies, jogging bottoms and a vest.

LaughingCat · 02/01/2024 23:53

Wear knickers when I’m on but otherwise, nothing. I can’t stand wearing clothes in bed.

NickiHendrix · 02/01/2024 23:53

Are you West Indian by any chance? I feel like this is such a West Indian thing to say that you need to let your bits breathe😂

My mum and grandma say exactly the same thing. I’m lying in bed with just a vest on and nothing on below for that same reason! Sometimes if I’m really tired, I may have a nap in bed but keep my underwear on. Everytime I wake up, I feel so uncomfortable. I can’t quite explain it but I’m team no underwear

JamSandle · 02/01/2024 23:54

Sometimes I do (obviously if on my period etc) but I do prefer sleeping totally naked.

NoraWaves · 02/01/2024 23:56

I find it really uncomfortable wearing underwear to bed. I wear pjs though.

LemonLight · 02/01/2024 23:57

Unless I'm on my period, I don't like wearing clothes in bed. Even if it's cold, I just get a blanket or a 10000000 tog duvet 😂

Herbiebanannas · 03/01/2024 00:00

Never worn anything in bed as an adult, and never had a partner who has either other than hospital stays.

Jessforless · 03/01/2024 00:01

people always think I’m weird that I sleep in a bra… but I’ve never found it weird to sleep wearing underwear. I thought that was quite normal.

tadpolelove · 03/01/2024 00:01

No

@NoraWaves & others in the jammies without pants team.

id find that very uncomfortable as they ride up.

i go through phases. I prefer to sleep naked, but menopause has been a bit of a bitch and another health condition pokes its nose in and I've had discharge (& I don't like that truckling around the place & some slight incontinence which I hate marking the sheets (not enough to do more than just mark them (so far anyway!) & I just find pants contain it all, so I'm not washing a sheet every day or feeling damp/sticky.

i sometimes wear a t shirt depending on the weather.

Mackeroo · 03/01/2024 00:03

Another vote for letting bits breathe. I wear nightie....couldn't bear to go to bed encased in knickers.

Ohnotyoutoo · 03/01/2024 00:04

I hate the looseness of not wearing pants under leggings or PJ bottoms.

It's either naked or pants for me.

liveforsummer · 03/01/2024 00:04

Yes I do - the genitals don't have their own personal respiratory system and have no need to 'breathe' obviously cotton underwear is the best choice though

BeaLola · 03/01/2024 00:07

I sleep naked as does DH.

If DH is away I will tend to wear pajama bottoms and a tshirt /vest top to bed - hang up from being burgled whilst asleep

AlltheFs · 03/01/2024 00:08

I can’t sleep with no knickers, I wake up. But I also have a lot of natural lubrication and I’d need to change pyjamas or sheets every day.

I always wear 100% cotton though.

Added to that we have a downstairs bathroom in a cold cottage so it’s the sort of house where you need to wrap up warm!

Yes - fabric in to crevices that wearing pants prevents 😅

Fionaville · 03/01/2024 00:10

Only when I'm on my period and I hate it. My mum used to say the same about letting the air get down there of a night.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 03/01/2024 00:10

No - fresh air camp here.
