1. LUNCH. My GOD JUST HAVE A SANDWICH. Why can’t young people eat lunch food? Not pasta or bagels or cooked this or that
2. Inability to take the bins out
3. work calls that take up a whole room
4. GLASSES everywhere

I love them obviously. But they can go home now.

This!!! Not eating stuff that they used to eat! It’s like DD waits til I buy the Innocent Smoothie / hash browns / white bread (whatever!) that she likes. And then she doesn’t! Aaaghh!!

Mines gone back to uni today, now I'm going to miss all the cooking and pod casts while we are working 😭

...and they've gone.

House is very quiet. I don't miss the endless dishwasher loading and unloading, lack of glasses or constantly thinking about what to cook for dinner.

I will not miss being asked at 11pm every night what's on the breakfast menu. My breakfasts no longer have to have a theme, an aesthetic or a composition. Sticking two slices of bread in the toaster without much thought feels strangely liberating!

@SerenityNowInsanityLater Me too. Totally nuts! It's gone from 6 to only 3! DH has also gone back to work (abroad).

One left this morning. God I hate saying goodbye. It never gets easier. She's an absolute dote of a thing she is. She also hated leaving me cos I've been sick and am still in recovery so I know that wasn't easy for her.

I'm definitely not a young adult (late 30s) but I won't eat sandwiches regularly because I was tortured with them as a child. I had them every single day for every week and every year of my school life. They were soggy and warm and disgusting and tantamount to abuse. No, I'm not going to eat a fucking sandwich unless I have to 😂 they're also not very good nutritionally unless you make a big faff about it. I would rather cook something! Better yet, yesterday's dinner leftovers reheated.

I have sandwiches in work...no microwave or canteen. So a flask of coffee too.
Child A works from home..his home...so can have complex lunch. Child B makes assorted soups. Child C takes leftovers or has reps in who bring lunch or gets taken out to lunch.
But when they are here with me they seem to expect a range of high quality breakfast brunch and lunch items.
I miss them when they are gone.

I was having 12 friends to lunch on Sunday and at 12.10 my 20 year old came into the kitchen and started frying eggs and bacon. Seemed surprised when I objected.

The main difference would be ingriedients in bread and pasta. Have a look at the supermarket packet of bread. A loaf from the bakery will be hopefully somewhat better.
If I were to make a tuna sandwich, it would have mayo in. Pasta would not. I would have a lot more salad or greens/veg with a plate of pasta than in a sandwich. Obviously that would vary depending how each person would have made their sandwiches or pasta.

Apologies for not factoring in that you make shit sandwiches with shit bread.

My ds has a Russian friend who makes incredible sandwiches with about a dozen fillings.

I know what you mean. DD and her boyfriend stayed for a few nights last week and I dropped them at the station early Sunday morning. I drove past and waved but they didn't see me. I felt quite tearful that she's moving on in every area of her life but h support her every step of the way 💕

I just had a GRILLED veggie sausage sandwich with Dijon mustard - it was delicious, I ate it in the kitchen in silence. Birds were tweeting, sun came out. No noodles today, no sirree.
(The Ramen Queen is back tomororw so a brief respite from fried and steaming and fancy pants stuff.)

Mine is now back to sending me pictures of the food he's made 🤣

Ours was up at 3pm and breakfasted on super noodles before returning to the computer.

I had a sandwich of stilton bread from a farm ship with cold sirloin with black garlic, crumbled blue goat’s cheese and leftover salad from last night with French mayonnaise. So in our house at least it’s all gone the wrong way.
