AIBU?

Oh the irony. This place is vile. Nearly every thread now is just a pile on tearing an OP apart, no matter the topic.

It’s getting out of hand. I started a post on here a while ago. As per, there were a number of PPs battling with one another in the thread, and some attacks at me (the OP wasn’t even about me). However, I wanted to thank a couple of posters for their considered perspectives - one in particular gave me a totally different POV. While I didn’t agree with her outlook, I really saw her point. I often think of what she wrote, and try to remember how she put it. The other suggested how to solve the problem - which is why I posted - and gave advice that worked and I have used again since.

By the time I finished drafting a reply (carefully, hoping not to provoke a pile-on) the thread had been deleted by MNHQ because they felt it had become unhelpful. I’m glad I had the chance to read the helpful PPs before it was pulled. Presuming it was all the nastiness. Waste of everyone’s time.

@AvonCallingBarksdale

There’s never any posts just stories and lots and lots of highlights where you see the people.

Yozzer87 · 02/01/2024 17:05

People aren't defined by what chat forum they are a member of. And so I don't really get why people slag off one versus the other. It's a bit sad and there's more to life. I reckon a lot of people are on several chat forums anyway.

Yorella · 02/01/2024 17:05

I like Tattle but the mods are rude and can't take any form of criticism whatsoever. IMO the MN mods are better.

OpalOrchid · 02/01/2024 17:05

Oh I was quoted on Tattle. Doesn't take much to wind them up does it 🤣

MaggieNextDoor · 02/01/2024 17:06

I can generate a code if anyone wants one and it won't be fake. I offered it to a poster a few days ago and they haven't used it, and it is time sensitive. But please don't sign up and cause havoc because I'll lose my own account. TIA

I expect a mod will be along soon on the MN thread to tell them all off.

Yeah I don't get this tribal thing, either. I always assume that if someone is an active user on one forum, they probably are across others as well, like I am.

They take the piss out of this site....so they come here for a laugh

Oh. How very kind and polite of them. Definitely not vile, butchery or up their own arses then....

I wouldn't do that if I were you, not if you want to keep your account. The mods explicitly said not to give codes out to MNers.

to be fair the few times ive read it ive thought they sounded like Jealous bullies, a lot of what they mentioned about people seem to be something you wouldn't think twice about if it had been a "normal" person but because theyre famous people find it okay to judge them on completely normal things for example there was one about a mum not doing her hair for the school run and just putting it in a bun... i literally do that normally every day, I didnt think people judged me for that!!! But OH if i had money or a youtube channel suddenly im not allowed to do that??

I've had warnings on tattle not to criticise the mods when I've done stuff like post very politely on their site thread asking if the ads could not take up half the page on a mobile phone. They pride themselves on not tone policing over there but that only applies to stuff they want to hear.

Itsbritneybitch22 · 02/01/2024 17:09

@MaggieNextDoor

Can I have a code please 😉

Gitfeatures · 02/01/2024 17:09

It can be entertaining to read, but it's a bit of an echo chamber and very self-congratulatory- differences of opinion are rapidly shut down, lots of unspoken rules and the mods are complete bellends.

What? The nice, kind posters on Tattle come over here to take the piss? Say it ain't so.

Yorella · 02/01/2024 17:10

It's not MN vs Tattle anyway, surely. Many of us are on both.

I will say one thing for Tattle, on MN you get away with being a lot more horrible to other posters.

itsmylife7 · 02/01/2024 17:10

I popped over there once. They appear to be obsessed with over here 🤔

Mywhoopdeedoo · 02/01/2024 17:12

Not obsessed, just take the piss

Yorella · 02/01/2024 17:14

I don't see how the Tattle thread about MN is any different to the multiple threads on MN repeating that all Tattle posters are vicious, nasty etc. You don't exactly have the moral high ground.

The fact of the matter is that lots of us are members of both and don't particularly have a preference for either. I prefer the gender critical discussions on Tattle but I prefer MN for some other stuff.

MaggieNextDoor · 02/01/2024 17:16

How will they know? Unless the poster announces their arrival from Mumsnet courtesy of me, will Tattle HQ be aware of my treachery?

OTH it's probably not the best idea, I was feeling full of New Year cheer, but I'll retract the offer forthwith.

Aliaolo · 02/01/2024 17:17

I have no problem with giving codes to MNers either, it's a silly rule. There must be many of us who are members of both and don't just make fun of others. Very frequent name changer on MN and infrequent Tattle poster so not concerned Tattle mods will find out I've given out codes (unless someone openly posts <MyTattleUsername> gave me a code!"). 😂

I imagine that's exactly what that particular poster will do.

VictorianChic · 02/01/2024 17:18

I quite like it. I find the posters funny and sharp on the whole.

The code thing is pretentious though. It’s just a bog standard social media site, get over yerselves Tattle! (aimed at Tattle mods not users).

Grimchmas · 02/01/2024 17:19

There's a lot of tribalism on different social media sites, isn't there.

The most I've seen of tattle is the almost endless threads about Jack Monroe. No matter if everything bad said about her is true (and I suspect a lot of it is), tattle seems to be a container for a lot of attacks on her.

OpalOrchid · 02/01/2024 17:19

If the owner of Tattle thinks it's all fine and dandy on there why is she so scared of opening up registration?
