to want to re-name our house Squirrels Leap?

My husband thinks I am, he says its twee! Our house is named after trees that no longer exist, and I want something nice. Am I being unreasonable? If so (and I probably am as he doesnt agree) then what can we call it?

do squirrels leap around your house ? sounds nice btw

MrsBadger · 17/03/2008 11:53

well, if you do, remember to put the apostrophe in when you get the sign made

OverMyDeadBody · 17/03/2008 11:54

It is twee though! I don't get why people give their houses twee cute fluffy bunny names, but if it's what you want that's fine. What suggestions does your DH have?

MamaG · 17/03/2008 11:54

I think thats cringy

OverMyDeadBody · 17/03/2008 11:54

lol MrsBadger!

Threadworm · 17/03/2008 11:55

Makes it sound like a place squirrels go to comit suicide.

windygalestoday · 17/03/2008 11:55

no offence but a bit naff and youll have hell of a time saying your addy on the fone

tinylady · 17/03/2008 11:55

I think Dunroamin is nice

BrothelSprouts · 17/03/2008 11:56

'Squirrels Boing and Have Been Known To Attack Bluetits' is technically more accurate.

TurkeyLurkey · 17/03/2008 11:57

LOL threadworm!

BrothelSprouts · 17/03/2008 11:57

Can't you just combine your name and that of your DH?

Unless you are called Squirrel, he is named Leap, and you have already done that.

stealthsquiggle · 17/03/2008 11:59

You have to have planning consent (yes, I know, nuts, isn't it?!) to change your house's name, assuming it is known by it's name, and doesn't have a number as well.

taipo · 17/03/2008 11:59

My parents had a sqirrel leap into their house while they were on holiday last year. Poor thing somehow got under the floorboards and by the time they got back was very much an ex squirrel complete with maggots pouring out from under the skirting boards. Dp's were traumatised for weeks, probably not as much as the squirrel though.

MrsBadger · 17/03/2008 12:00

oh if it has a number as well you're better off without a name

Threadworm · 17/03/2008 12:01

I've twice had squirrels fall from trees in front of my eyes. That's a bit useless isn't it?

stealthsquiggle · 17/03/2008 12:01

well yes, MrsB, but the OP might not see it that way

PortAndLemon · 17/03/2008 12:02

It is a bit twee. Squirrels Plummet would be less twee...

MamaG · 17/03/2008 12:03

rename it "The Olde Coaching Inne"

snowleopard · 17/03/2008 12:04

Sorry but if I went to a house called that I would have a hard time not snurking about it. It just makes me think of really comedic leaping about. Like you would be sitting in the front room and they would be constantly shooting past the window - "wheeeeeee!"

Mrs B maybe it is a descriptive name and it is just noun-verb - in which case it should be Squirrels Leap (as in Sh*t Happens)

tinylady · 17/03/2008 12:05

Yes, if it has a number why name it?

hecate · 17/03/2008 12:06

Well, since you asked (and thus not allowed to get the arse on), I think maybe you should think of something else.

MrsBadger · 17/03/2008 12:06

I take your point but think it unlikely...

stealthsquiggle · 17/03/2008 12:08

PMSL at SnowLeopard's image of squirrel cabaret

tinylady · 17/03/2008 12:08

lol snow leopard.Maybe they should just use shit happens then!

barbarianoftheuniverse · 17/03/2008 12:11

I think Squirrels: leap! would be better.

Mrs Badger there is a Badgers Rest near us. Constantly surrounded by obedient exhausted badgers flat on their backs, taking it easy.
