to want to re-name our house Squirrels Leap?

My husband thinks I am, he says its twee! Our house is named after trees that no longer exist, and I want something nice. Am I being unreasonable? If so (and I probably am as he doesnt agree) then what can we call it?

Your all quite right, I cant possibly call it anything to do with small furry critters, commiting suicide or not. DH quite likes the sound of Squirrels Plummet tho

What can we call it tho, our road already has Dunromin, Darrenshaz, and the council wont let us have Ye Olde Coaching Inn as we are next door to Ye Olde Poste Office! It may have to stay as The Laurels!

It already has a name, and have the correct form from the council, so am following proceeeeedure.

or how about "The Old Rectory"

Beauregard · 17/03/2008 12:13

What about "Windy End"

??

PortAndLemon · 17/03/2008 12:13

The Nettles? The Weeds?

Then you could save on gardening time and claim it was in the interests of authenticity...

TwoFirTreesToday · 17/03/2008 12:14

ooo nice, Weedy End

Yeswecutthesoddinglaurelsdown?

bran · 17/03/2008 12:16

Why not plant some laurels? Perhaps you could plant topiary one in the front garden that has been pruned into the shape of a squirrel.

Hassled · 17/03/2008 12:16

Casa Nostra

RustyBear · 17/03/2008 12:16

Resting on our Laurels?

stealthsquiggle · 17/03/2008 12:16

If you do go ahead I would be interested to hear how obstructive and obnoxious helpful your council are, as we are thinking of changing our house's name (to reverse change from sensible name to naff name by a previous owner!)

Can you find something which relates to the house/location's history?

snowleopard · 17/03/2008 12:16

Weedy End is great!

Or Bushy End so it still has a squirrel theme?

themildmanneredbunny · 17/03/2008 12:16

podmore's thatch

barbarianoftheuniverse · 17/03/2008 12:18

Call it 'The Laurels??'

TwoFirTreesToday · 17/03/2008 12:20

O your all so great, you are all giving me hope that we will find a name.

So far the council have been great, but all I did was enquire. They will tell Royal Mail and we will tell the Land Registry. They have to check their data base to see if it is too similar or already in use. I forgot to ask if they charge... hmm

how about "The Hardys"

MrsJohnCusack · 17/03/2008 12:24

I grew up opposite a small 70s development named 'The Squirrels' so I'm finding this all rather nostalgic

tinylady · 17/03/2008 12:27

Rusty bear- you made me lol

Beauregard · 17/03/2008 12:28

Going with the squirrel theme...."Dreys rest"

tinylady · 17/03/2008 12:33

tinylady · 17/03/2008 12:33

How about The Nut Buriers

DumbledoresGirl · 17/03/2008 12:35

Is this a pisstake? Surely you are not restricted in the name you can use by the number of houses in the locality that have the same name? What about all those SeaViews in every coastal settlement?

SoupDreggon · 17/03/2008 12:37

"Bushy End" [snurk]
