I'm working tonight (support worker) but I must say I'm starting to get really bad FOMO seeing everyone get dressed up and going out. Anyone else in the same boat?! Let's share our boring NYE stories to give each-other some comfort 🤣

Also... so glad I won't be hanging tomorrow!

What the heck is FOMO?
I'm fed up of googling abbreviations.
Only Mumsnet use stupid ones.

It's like a clique..
We don't pay per letter texting these days.
Are people really too lazy to type correctly?

fomocrew · 31/12/2023 19:23

Fear of missing out. Thought everyone knew that 🤣

Even my 80 year old Mum knows what it means 😂

AhBiscuits · 31/12/2023 19:26

FOMO is widely used and did not originate on mumsnet.

In answer to the question, absolutely not. Can't think of anything worse than cramming into a packed pub or club. You can FOMO my cheeseboard, bubbles and TV 😄

Projectme · 31/12/2023 19:27

I'm sat on my sofa waiting in my comfies, for DD to get ready as I'm driving them to nearest town for their party. DH just taken DS and his friends to town too. So it's a sober one...First time ever tbh but I'm looking forward to no hangover tmrw!!

OldTinHat · 31/12/2023 19:28

Tbh, I think most people, like me, are tucked in at home, watching crap on the TV and waiting for the electric blanket to heat up!

No FOMO needed there!

Thanks for working this evening and doing what you do. It's so important to so many people.

I see it all the time but couldn't be bothered to work it out.

Now I know , thanks 😄

😂😂😂😂

None of these are Mumsnet specific and the DH/DS etc predate Mumsnet.

TheWizardHowl · 31/12/2023 19:29

I'm in PJs watching old episodes on Netflix. I had a glass of wine earlier that gave me a headache. 😂 Will probably be asleep before 10pm.

NewYearNewMeBullshit · 31/12/2023 19:30

No mate I'm at home drinking prosecco by myself and enjoying the peace.

It's called CGAF - Couldn't give a fuck 🍾

PJs, what are PJs??? I'm so fed up of Mumsnet acronyms...

😂😂😂😂

coffeestrongblacknosugar · 31/12/2023 19:30

we were going to NYE party, however, husband not well so we are at home. To be honest, I am exhausted and will probably not see 'the bells' cant even be bothered having a drink.

ANightmareBeforeChristmas · 31/12/2023 19:31

No, I have JOMO (joy of missing out).

I did my time stuffing myself into overpriced and overcrowded pubs on NYE when I was young. Always an anticlimax. Happy to be at home on the sofa tonight!

I cannot believe you used "it's" instead of "it is" and "I'm" instead of "I am"...

Are people really too lazy to type correctly????

InAMess2023 · 31/12/2023 19:31

Absolutely not. I'm wallowing in the JOMO. Had a lovely dinner, cracked open a bottle of expensive champagne and watching the sex and city movie. Already had a good cry that will probably start up again during this film!

CathyAnne91 · 31/12/2023 19:31

FOMO… what about ‘JOMO’ - the joy of missing out!? I’m currently under blankets, some fizz on the go curled up with my kindle.

I’m much happier with this set up!!

Appleass · 31/12/2023 19:32

Absolutely not ! Couldn't think of anything worse. Nibbles with me, Hubby and the dog, perfect !

MillenialAvocado · 31/12/2023 19:32

Currently lying next to my 2 year old in his bedroom, white noise on full blast, trying to drown out the sounds of a house party next door. NYE is pretty crap when you've got toddlers.

Canonlythinkofthisone · 31/12/2023 19:32

Just put the baby to bed. DH is at work all night.
If I see midnight, it's because the fireworks have woken DD 🤣🤣
Too old (and skint) to be out out these days.

I am about to bake a camembert and have a glass of wine though 🥳🥳

Dynamoat · 31/12/2023 19:33

No fomo here. Looking forward to 9pm bedtime. Already in pyjamas.

InAMess2023 · 31/12/2023 19:35

@CathyAnne91 literally cross posted re JOMO - same!

If it's Sex and the City 2 you'll be crying that you spent 2 hours of your life on it.

peppermintcrisp · 31/12/2023 19:35

What's NYE?

youveturnedupwelldone · 31/12/2023 19:35

NYE? Stop with the mumsnet jargon FGS!
