To ask if anyone else has FOMO?!

I'm working tonight (support worker) but I must say I'm starting to get really bad FOMO seeing everyone get dressed up and going out. Anyone else in the same boat?! Let's share our boring NYE stories to give each-other some comfort 🤣

Also... so glad I won't be hanging tomorrow!

It's like a clique..

Nooooo. Very pleased to be in my pjs after a nice bath. Going to catch up on some crap telly with a glass (or more!) of something. Kids are all fast asleep. Happy days 😁

NY sucks imo. Love, love, love Christmas but NY dinner marks the end. I'm feeling quite ready to take down the decs on Tuesday and declutter the house, then hunker down to resurface in spring !!

Had a lovely roast earlier, cooked by DH as usual, and now counting down the minutes hours until we can climb into our new massive bed with its fabulous heavy, not-bloody-memory foam mattress. I am re-reading The Stand, and my kindle and my plush cool pillows are calling me.

No doubt some knobhead will let off a firework at midnight and make the dogs bark. We have lost all interest in forced jollity on NYE, getting through Christmas is bad enough.

There was an event I really wanted to go to but couldn’t find anyone to pal me along ( it was quite a niche event and everyone I know is spending NYE with family). So I dithered and by the time I decided ‘what the hell, I’ll go anyway, they’ll probably be someone there I know a bit’ the tickets were sold out.

So yea, quite FOMO and kicking myself for ruining a rare chance to get dressed up.

But have spent a nice eve with nice food and video with the kids, and now looking forward to an early night.

I honestly think I have JOMO. My friends take the piss that I decline every invitation I possibly can. It's extremely rare for us to get away with not being at a party on NYE - we are usually at friends' for 3 nights at this time of year. Much as I miss them, they are in Australia for a month.

We have declined every other invitation and we are happily wallowing in front of the fire with wine and zero chance of seeing in the NY.

I'm watching an old episode of Monarch of The Glen. DH is meant to be making a chilli but hasn't started yet. The cat is on edge due to fireworks. I'm bimbling off to get a glass of wine shortly.

I do we got invited out but I’m 38 weeks pregnant and not loving life atm so we’re giving NYE celebrations a miss this year!

JOMO and FOBI for sure 🤩 couldn't think of anything worse than going out tonight (or any other night, but NYE especially).

All the beige food, a few drinks and bed by 10 is perfect. Won't be partaking in the twee SM 'look what I achieved this year!' crap either, tomorrow will be no different.

Only FOMO I have is other posters saying that their children are already in bed asleep and they’ve retreated to the bath / sofa and I’m lying on the floor with 1 waiting for them to sleep and then the eldest is waiting with the Yoto on. Freedom beckons about 9pm!!

I'm not bored, I'm watching Fellow Travelers on Paramount+ at the moment and I will record Rick Astley tonight and the fireworks and watch them tomorrow. I haven't been out on NY for years

I do feel sorry for the op having to work tonight.

So many of us have JOMO but are at home, cosy in PJs with wine/cheese/chocolate/other tipple or snack of choice.

It's no fun having to go out to work when others are either glammed up to go out and enjoy themselves or snuggled up at home and enjoying themselves.

Thanks OP, and all the other care workers and everyone else who is having to work on NYE.

I do have it too OP I blame my DH he's in a band and always has a gig on NYE so I'm always stuck at home with the kids.
In reality I know we wouldn't be doing anything anyway but be nice to have the opportunity!
